This is easily the best documentary anywhere to ever explain who Sylvia Robinson was, an how revolutionary she was to the music industry! Thanks for another great lesson, JayQuan.
I REMEMBER BEING SHACKLED UP ON THE GREY GOOSE(L.A COUNTY JAIL BUS) AND PILLOW TALK CAME ON EVERYONE GOT QUIET YOU COULD HEAR A PIN DROP BUT IT WAS A CRAZY MOMENT ON OUR WAY TO JAIL THAT SONG GAVE US A LITTLE RELIEF AND EASED US
It's Good To Be the Queen was heard during the European beauty contest held in Istanbul in 1982. My uncle taped it off TV or somewhere else and years later I was blown away when I heard the tune while watching the contestants walking across the stage to the tune. Whoever included it in the playlist must have a great taste and it perfectly fitted with the format.
Hi there. All I can say is WOW!!! This is awesomeness at it's best! Plus, you have shared additional information about Sylvia Robinson that I did not know. Thank you so much for your commentary.

On top of all this incredible breakdown provided by Foundation ... Sylvia's 45rpm records are considered classic 'Lowrider Oldies' from this genre's beginnings as well as having the wisdom to bring the living legend Mr. George Kerr who is the Godfather of Sweet Soul ballads as well as the DNA creator of original tracks providing breaks for original Hip-Hop ... Unbelievable ... AND she was so Fine and classy and elegant ... AND ... she did all this while navigating the cold, gangster madness of the music business then .... Man!!! Thank you for this documentary ... yours are the very best and done True to Life
Slyvia was a theif that robbed her artist. Go and watch that Sugar Hill Gang documentary on Amazon called I WANT MY NAME BACK. Those Robinson son was a asshole fronting like he co-wrote the name Sugar Hill Gang. It's terrible.
Absolutely awesome! Thanks for once again showing us black Excellence. I've been a hip-hop head since I was 13 years old and never knew this. Thank you.
TY Foundation for highlighting Sylvia Robinson, an astute businesswoman, great songwriter & musician, & a beautiful woman...for understanding Hip Hop & paving the way for so many...#Respect
Yo thank you for this man you filled in a lot of blanks for me bro. Like how all the groups had “ Bands” when they started making records. Which I hated! BTW.... Sucker MCs was the first record that sounded like authentic street hip hop period! (Like when the music stopped before “ first come first served basis”). But I get it now. How Sylvia was about to go broke but had the presence of mind to keep her ear to the streets and come up with rap records. Of course she used bands what else was she supposed to do! I heard they were grimy but I’m sure the streets put a lot on that. I watched the whole rap evolution thing happen before my eyes. I knew fantastic and cold crush. Mainly Kev and Rob and Jerry D Lewis ( JDL). They hung out with each other. I will never cease to be amazed about what rap music has become. Thanks for setting the record straight my dude.
Damn. THANK you! This is the best vid on Sylvia Robinson I've ever seen. Bought an 8 track of "Pillow Talk" in 1979 at a dollar store for 69 cents and have been a fan ever since. Your research is fantastic and you are passionate about what you do. Blessings and continued success.
Great History Lesson for the beginning of Rap Music/ Hip Hop, And Important Information for future Generations to know about when it comes too Hip Hop!!! Thanks ''Jayquan'' You really be doing your homework, And making sure Important people like ''Sylvia Robinson'' is remembered, And not forgotten for her work she started all those years ago!!!👍

This is an absolute awesome documentary bro! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 thank you I appreciate it... I'm the first generation of hip-hop and lived through this era.... Being an MC! from Jersey City New Jersey..... there was always an underline Discord between New York MC'S and Jersey MC'S because of Sugar Hill records.... the New York MCs at those clubs never considered Sugarhill Gang as real hip hop... but she is an absolute genius... she is the blueprint and the founder of the business of hip-hop and how it's done... the culture owes her a lot but she's never mentioned

Jay it's funny, this woman is a trail blazer some would dare to say she is the spark to the series Empire. But if you talk to the Sugar Hill artist she had left millions and millions of dollars on the table ( and in her pocket) that most of her past artist will never, ever see.
ONE THING SYLVIA JUST COULD NOT SEE WAS...GANGSTA RAP AND THE HIP HOP CULTURE. HAD SHE SAW THAT (OR KNEW THAT THAT WAS THE AGENDA), SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN A QUEEN SOMEWHERE ELSE💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 THOSE TWO THINGS RUINED THE BLACK COMMUNITY IN AMERICA.
