I was leaving Holland in roughly 2004 to go back home to South Africa after working in Amsterdam for 2 years.. at Schiphol Airport I was told to take my hand luggage to be weighed but I had to leave my bag at the check in point.. I went and paid for “extra luggage” but when I returned to fetch my bag.. it, and the woman checking it in had magically disappeared… I never saw my bags again… total set up and easy jet took no responsibility for it whatsoever… thanks Holland! ❤🇳🇱🌷I’ll never forget that
@@alexandralucaciu2964 Thanks for asking! Everthing was fine! It was a bit crowded but I got through quickly. The egate was still closed so early in the morning, but everthing went smoothly☺️. Very true. Last year in June and in December, when I visited here, the immigration was always heavily crowded with travellers and also the staff there was too understaffed. Most passengers had panic attacks😥😥
I just arrived AMS for my flight to EWR. Efficient, very fast check-in UA, security, immigration in less than 20 mins. altogether! Super secure, maximum security for sure and the best efficiency I’ve seen after Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London, and Lisbon.
I had to fly out of there back to Canada at the beginning of August. I wish I had got to Schiphol Plaza half an hour beforehand so I could have got some Burger King before waiting in line.
I agree. Schiphol ist not as big as CDG or IST, but the airport is spread over a wide area. I once arrived at Gate B18 and had a connecting flight from Gate E9. that's over a mile to walk, and Schiphol has no moving walks. As far as changing planes is concerned, Schiphol is the most unpleasant experience I've ever made.
Did you drop bags in the drop off service, if yes how busy it was ? I’ll have a flight with Transavia to pisa and I want check how early go to the airport
This is the latest update on Amsterdam Airport th-cam.com/video/Gg6a3D2EQ8g/w-d-xo.html . I was just transiting through. I had my bags checked in already.
If you are traveling within the EU, 1.5 hours is more then enough. Its basically a 5min walk to ur plane after check in. If ur traveling internationally it will be 20-30min walk. International departures is HUGE.
Thanks for sharing! Very informative .. I am travelling to Amsterdam next month and I am wondering if US/Canadian citizens can use automated immigration control eGates when they exit the Netherlands (or other EU country) to non-EU country (like flying back to the US). I see conflicting info on whether US/Canadian citizens can use automated immigration control eGates from certain EU countries. Thanks.
I know you can use it if you're arriving into France/Netherlands and most western European countries. I don't know if you can when departing though. Only arriving and it helps and saves time
It's very busy because there aren't many workers and there are problems with the bagage. But every European airport has this problem right now. This situation comes from the Corona pandemic so Schiphol has to fire a lot of workers but they can't bring them back.
May I ask for Vaccinated Travelers, do they still ask for PCR test for I know it’s required for Non-Vax. Do u know if they have a place there that do the testing right in the airport ? Thnx a bunch 😊
I have visited Amsterdam more than 5 times after I shot this video and no one has asked me anything about vaccination. I believe it is being required before you board your flight to Amsterdam
If you are traveling through Amsterdam and Amsterdam is not your final stop that means you're already in transit I'm already at the airport....8m confused and I really need to know
Depending tue passport you carry and your nationality. Most african and third world countries will need a transit visa to pass through Amsterdam. You can check with the airline
Hey bro have you gotten to your destination , please how was the experience at the Schiphol airport did they request for transit Visa , because I transit on that airport on the 27th January, with Nigerian passport
Please I’m to travel from Nigeria to Vancouver next 2weeks and I have a stopover from Paris to Amsterdam before the flight is bound for Vancouver, please do I need a transit visa in Amsterdam???? Please i’d really appreciate a response. Thank you
Get your money back if possible or figure out a way to get a valid Schengen visa withing the time Frame you have. You can also get a France/Netherlands transit visa but i doubt if you have enough time. So Yes, you need a Schengen visa as you will be crossing two Schengen countries
You only need schengen for just 1 country since it covers you for 27 European countries. For first-time travelers to Europe, make sure you go directly to the country that issues your visa. This does not apply for frequent travelers to schengen countries
Still true in 2024. Missed my flight because there was a moment of silence for victims of world war 2. A moment that took in excess of 15 minutes. Still asked to be treated as priority boarding but no one could care. Only if I had watched this earlier
I recently entered Europe via Amsterdam, as a European citizen going to my homecountry. Even for a simple transfer, there was a long queue, only one immigration window was open, the officer was borderline agressive in their questionning eventhough I was going to my homecountry from a very normal place; the latter point was pretty consistent with the lack of manners at the security check too (did not say hello in any language, then use an unecessarily agressive tone to adress me). This airport is understaffed, which leads to very unpleasant interactions with the staff.
Bro i have a question. I will fly from munich to shiphol and then to lima. I have connect time 1 hour 20 Minutes? All Fights are togheter and with KLM. Can i do it ?
@@Aventus93 I will have only 50 min…. You’re completly fine with your layover. They have e-gates…so you don’t need to stand in line. I‘ll try that for the first time. We‘ll see.
@The9jaboy I did some research and hopefully with the connecting flight it's still applicable that I won't have to go through security and all the other steps. I feel more relaxed and also thank you for replying and putting me at ease!
@The9jaboy first flight is Atlanta to Amsterdam to luxembourg. Then second flight is the reverse route. First layover in Amsterdam is 3 hours. Second layover coming back is an hour or so

By al means. This was true during his visit. But things improved great since then. Be on time, but 4 hours is not needed anymore.
As a general rule i reach 3 hours early for international flights and 2 hours early for domestic flights
In only have about 50 minutes to transit. Now I am scared for Thursday.

You only go through Immigration or Customs if you are travelling to another country within the Schengen Area or on your return flight to Amsterdam.
You will go through both if Amsterdam is your first point on entry into the schengen zone, and you're going to another schengen country
