Thanks for this video! I’m a solo traveler as well, and have been all over the world. I have a 24 hour layover in Amsterdam in 2 weeks. So excited!! Sometimes I get scared bc of transportation especially if I’m not driving myself. But I’m going to take the train like you did and go to the central area and get a hotel for the night. Thanks
Thanks for the tips. I was able to go walk around and have lunch in Amsterdam. I had a 5 hour layover. 15 minutes from gate to the train station. 20 minutes from Schiphol to Central Station. 10 minutes from Central Station to the narrow and colorful streets of Amsterdam. The fastest train is the Intercity not the Sprinter.
Perfect Video!!! I'm headed to South Africa in March with a 4 hour layover in Amsterdam. This is perfect. I'll probably do the exact same thing you did: Breakfast, Anne Frank's House, & back to airport. Thank you King. Great insight and motivation.
Ok I am not a social butterfly and I definitely consider myself an introvert, but I absolutely love solo travel because it pushes me outside of my comfort zone. It is so liberating! Also, thanks for the vlog. I have a 4 hour layover in Amsterdam this summer and I am debating on whether I should venture into the city center or if I should take advantage of my lounge access. Decisions decisions haha
Thanks for tuning in! I loved solo travel also. With a 4 hour layover I would definitely head out the airport. That gives in my opinion 2 hours in city centre to at least walk around and sightsee
I wonder if we have the same layover! lol. I have a 4 hour layover (CPH to AMS to BOS) and this has convinced me to get out of my comfort zone and do some quick sightseeing!
We read Anne Frank in school. Pretty cool yo see this brother exploring Amsterdam. I have a 21 hour layover in Amsterdam this Friday I was just wondering if I need a visa to leave the airport.
Did you try it? How was it? Any specific places worth visiting? I'm planning to book a flight that has a 10h layover in Amsterdam. Wondering if it'd be enough to take a quick look of the city.
We have a 5 hour layover but we are coming from the U.S. How long did it take you to get from the plane landing through customs to get out the terminal? Also, how much time did you budget to leave Amsterdam Central and make your connecting flight? Were you able to leave your checked bags? So many questions but I appreciate you taking the time to make this video.
Thank you for sharing. Did you have to pick-up your luggage before leaving the airport? It is a hassle when one has to re-check in luggage to take a connection flight.
How long does it take from plane to Amsterdam Central and back again? I'm doing a stopover in Schipol for 3 hour and 55 minutes and I'm going with my 73 year old mum. We are hoping just to get to Amsterdam Central and visit the public library next to the central train station and go back again. But I'm a bit worried about keeping time. I'm thinking at least an hour travel to and from the airport, and then maybe another hour through customs... etc. Was it a stressful race against time?
How long before your flight did you start heading back to the airport? I have a 3h45 layover in Amsterdam on Sunday and I’m debating risking it or not!!
@@ghostpepperfries9169 Yep! I did it, BUY YOUR TICKET AHEAD OF TIME ONLINE and you should be good :) I took the train in the wrong direction, almost went to Utrecht…… then I took the metro in the wrong direction, wasted all the time I gained from my plane landing earlier, and I still made it on the 2nd flight. Only had 20mins downtown (couldve had 40) but it was so worth it :)
I was wondering if you could help me out with the tickets, and travel info.. i have a 4hr layover and i would like to go explore, but i am worried about the transit time, and also getting back and going through security, i dont want to miss my flight.. What would you recommend and how did you make your layover so seamless- Thanks
Thanks for tuning into the video! Honestly it’s only seamless if you have checked bags and don’t have to worry about carrying luggage. I grabbed an electronic ticket right off line. Give yourself about an hour for roundtrip train ride back to the airport
Hi, im travelling from ireland to Bangkok and have a 7 hour wait in schipol before my flight to Thailand . My question is can I leave the airport and go to Amsterdam for a couple of hours?? Any help is greatly appreciated . Regards
Hey! So I actually didn’t need a visa to leave the airport believe it or not. I left and came right back on train with no problem. I would check their board of tourism though as policies can change
@@jaymeetsworld thank you for your response! My problem is I have Philippine passport but I think I need to call the embassy just to make things sure :)
@@jesylaranda9839 if you're a Canadian citizen u don't need a visa but if not then u will. I have an 8 hour lay over my little brother lives in Amsterdam I plan to do the same thing the guy in the video did.
In Amsterdam tomorrow only for a few hours, this video was perfect 🙏 love it 🔥
Glad it could help!

No problem! Yes the train was very accessible and reasonable price wise. It’s your best bet! Transit was very clean and efficient
Hey which site did you purchase the ticket on?
@@crystalgooding3145 Hey! Oh wow it was a few years ago. I remember just googling it while on the plane landing it was so quick to get.
Hi Tish,
I'm doing the same as you. How did your trip go, and can you recommend a hotel? Thanks!
Loved Amsterdam, you definitely played it close with the time. The Anne Frank house was one of the highlights for me as well.
i got a 5.5 layover, gonna do it too, thanks Jay

i also have a 3.5 hour layover next month, were there long lines at the security/passport check coming back to the airport?
Great video!
Thank you!!

Nope! No visa need my brotha. Do your thing and explore
I agree im a solo traveler as well. Hopefully ill be there on the 21 of July
I enjoy it so much, traveling is my drug
I have a 10 hour layover thanks for video, we are going to do the same.
I’m hoping you were able to do a lot more than I did! 10 hours is a great layover to have I love longer ones

Hi Sophia it didn’t take me long to get out the terminal. I budgeted an hour roundtrip via train. It’s about a half hour one way.
Yea I’m also curious to know how much time is needed when returning back to the airport. I hear going back through security takes some time.
Thank you for sharing. Did you have to pick-up your luggage before leaving the airport? It is a hassle when one has to re-check in luggage to take a connection flight.
Hi, nope my luggage stayed with the airline.
Great video. I was just curious if you had to show a brand new negative covid test to re-enter the airport?
Hi George. Nope! They didn’t. I had my vaccine card on me just in case but they did not ask for it.
I'm far from being a social butterfly, but i never have any issues traveling alone
Love your vid! Were you in a Schengen visa during that time?

I probably wouldn’t chance it with your mother that just adds to the time. But the train is 20 minutes one way
when you come back to the airport? do you have to go thru security again
thanks will be a great idea but its 2022 and is chaos at the airports in europe :S
We have a six and a half hour layover in Amsterdam in March. Is there anyplace to store carryon luggage safely?
Carryon luggage I am not sure if airports offer that type of assistance but I normally just carry a book bag and a check in any other luggage
Do you need transit visa to go outsied the airport?
Hey! Thanks for your comment. NOPE! I just kept my boarding pass with me and that’s all and they didn’t even ask for that either

No vaccine card needed (at the time July 2021)
Do they hold checked in luggage?
Yup they held my luggage while I was out and about
