Although I've been wrenchin' for 50+ years , this was the first Prius battery swap I've ever tackled and you made it a walk in the park! The only thing I'd add would be vacuum and clean all the surfaces before reinstalling the battery, panels, trim, etc. The fan and plenum on this car had 15 years worth of lint and pine needles it it. Thanks for a 5-star video!
You’re amazing, only issue i had was getting it all back in a replaced to realize I had to take out the computer from old battery and reinstall it in the new one, THANK YOU!
Are electrical linesman gloves overboard, more than is needed? Are any gloves needed? If some are suggested are they only needed for sharp edges? I have an '03 throwing a p3030.
Once you pull the service plug you don’t have to use gloves. You can test for voltage at the main battery terminals to ensure it’s safe to work on after removing the service plug.
Same chemistry and specs as original modules, the biggest advantage to the cylindrical is increased module cooling due to design and airflow through the modules. I see a ton of batteries fail due to middle of the pack deterioration, which is caused by excessive heat build up in the middle of the pack.
Apologies, it’s on the passenger side wall above the battery. 1 electrical harness and three 10mm mounting bolts. Then Phillips head screwdriver to open fan. If you have to flush face downward.
Thanks for your excellent video, i used lots of small zip lock bags to keep track of the different types of bolts and nuts. After 8-hrs of work i got the battery the new place. I had to install 3- new orange battery cables and move the front battery module from the old battery to the new battery. But you battery was great help. Dealer quoted $4800 for the job i did it for 2K. You save the widow 2.4K and she is most grateful for your video.

I've watched several of these but this is the one that is so clear it gives me confidence that I can do the job myself. Many thanks.
Much appreciated comment, thank you.
Awesome video, nice and detailed. How much does the labor cost for the replacement of one of these? I have a friend who needs to replace theirs.
Super vidéo passionnante ✨👍🏽
I was waiting for the most exciting part !!!! 😢you never start the vehicle!! How did you stat do you need a computer to reset all the car ?
No, the car will reset when you put the service plug back in and hook up 12v supply.
Great vid thank you
🙏

You’re welcome 😊
Can you post the replacement battery you are using in the video? Who makes the replacement battery?
We use a company called EnoCar and have worked with them for several years now.
Great vedio thanks
So this is the main battery for the car? Sorry I’m not very knowledgeable. I was told my Prius battery is dying and could cost 2-4K to replace.
It’s the traction battery, you also have a cranking battery in the back. Start there.
How does the aftermarket battery compare to the OEM Battery? Is it Lithium ? Warranty?

Should i change to the original computer after changing the battery?
Not necessarily if it isn’t bad
Do you have a video of replacing the cells with the "green" or "Orange" 14.4 volt blocks for the GenII?
Yes, check our videos
In a 2004 prius, its necessary change the origonal batteries??? 😅😅😅😅
I would imagine so, they age out after about 12 years.
You forgot to talk about how to clean the HV batter fan ?
Apologies, it’s on the passenger side wall above the battery. 1 electrical harness and three 10mm mounting bolts. Then Phillips head screwdriver to open fan. If you have to flush face downward.

What was the total time for this job?
We sell these rebuild kits for $2050 shipped.
So no safety tools needed?
I would use the tools you're comfortable using.
