I got very lucky to get a pair of pioneer cs r700 for $50! From the original owner, in great condition and work perfectly. For the prince, I love them! I will hold onto them for a long time.
@@johnlandry9375 I got a pair of Realistic Optimus t-200 and Pioneer HPM-40 for $55, that I got to put some work into the cabinets. When I finish it I'll do that next. So you know the name and model of the poly caps I should use?
Hey nice video. They sound pretty damn good. I have to say the Pioneer DSS series, which came after the HPMs as part of the Elite line, are the best Pioneer speakers I've ever heard. The DSS-9 was top of the line. I'm lucky enough to own a pair of DSS-7s. Look them up!
I agree. Much better than the much over hyped HPM 100s. You can even see the superior construction if you open them up. The R700s employ a well engineered crossover unlike the HPM 100. The R700s are proper 3 way speakers whereas the HPM 100s are a two way with three overlapping tweeters. You can also hear the difference in the listening. The HPM with it's ragged response and gobs of ringing generates listener fatigue... no depth, no imaging. The R700s sound much smoother but also very lively and punchy... and only get better the longer you listen.

Very nice! Replace the crossover caps with poly caps and you'll be even happier.

I guess i should say the best vintage pioneer. I have no experience with the newer pioneer stuff.

Best Pioneer speakers are with no doubt the CS 3000A but also the rarest of them all
Maybe for that year. The Pioneer cs-603 sound way better than the cs-r700.
