What are the transistor values... I have one but all the values are rubbed off. 😢
Currently rebuilding a set of these old gals
I've had many receivers go through my hands including a Pioneer 1980. The one regret I had was selling the Realistic 2100D. It's just that the Sony Str 7045 beat it out in terms of musicality just by a smidge. I still regret selling it.
Hello John, i was just watching your video on these Martin Logans. I picked up a pair locally $325 in very good condition. Mine are all black, not wood grain as yours are. I absolutely love them. I do add vintage super tweeters attached to the top of them. I use them on just about every speaker i own. But anyway i see you also have the MK speakers 3 tweeters, 3 woofers per speaker. What do you think of them? I ened up with only one MK that uses 1 of those tweeters and woofers. I must say i am very impressed with it. Great clarity and fidelity. So i can only imagine the x3 in a box is even better! Like you I also do vintage stereo repair. I actually use to run a HiFi repair shop in a high end audio store in the mid to late 80's... We were a Magnapan dealer / service center and the sound of these Martin Logans, reminds me of the Magnapan's...
I bought a used pair of ns777's for 100 bucks. Decent speaker for 100 bucks lol Powering them with a Denon x2400.
I’ve owned a pair. They would have some potential if the cabinets weren’t so crappy. The particleboard wood is too thin and it buzzes like crazy. The crossover also leaves much to be desired. Best thing you could do with those is to build new cabinets out of 3/4” MDF and add some internal bracing. Then line the inner walls with some egg crate foam. Even listening to this video I can hear the coloration. I own a pair of Mach Three and they are better sounding. Same woofer but a bigger cabinet and better crossover. I’ve owned a pair of Mach One also. Not impressed with those. Cabinets are too small and the bass suffers. Yes I know about the mod that adds the volume behind the midrange and even doing that there still isn’t enough volume.
👍👍👍
I remember Megadeath Countdown to extinction shook the house in 1992 with my dads Optimus Mach 2s and yes, I still have them. Burned up two receivers rocking out! The first was Radio Shacks realistic, then an RCA a few years later. Today I have a Yamaha I bought maybe 15 or so years ago. I've always loved those speakers.
i HAVE A PAIR OF OPTIMUS MACH 2s. my foam is toast too. My dad bought them in 1990ish...
fix them ull be glad u did
There's absolutely no way that all the capacitors in the crossovers are still in spec.
Previous owner replaced with poly.
I have whole set of OM7 they sound kicking with S220HS 2.1 Channel Bluetooth Power Amplifier Board. Sound great. Do you know the watts on each speakers
I have a pair of these they are my workshop speaker
I have the same speakers in mint condition since the last 44 years. They sound as amazing as they did 44 years back.❤
I have owned them for 5 years and I am very satisfied! Can you tell me what year they have been produced and are they being produced now? This is probably the longest-lived acoustics on the assembly line!
@@Nick-i-for in my honest opinion and after some years of reflection, these speakers are awful.
@@johnlandry9375 Everything is learned in comparison. Their sound is much more expensive than their price.
@@johnlandry9375how about for home theater?
Beautiful pair of speakers they fantastic and are very cheap considering their quality
Alguém pode informar potência das caixas ???
sel top amigo, qual altura das f30??
I got very lucky to get a pair of pioneer cs r700 for $50! From the original owner, in great condition and work perfectly. For the prince, I love them! I will hold onto them for a long time.
Very nice! Replace the crossover caps with poly caps and you'll be even happier.
@@johnlandry9375 I got a pair of Realistic Optimus t-200 and Pioneer HPM-40 for $55, that I got to put some work into the cabinets. When I finish it I'll do that next. So you know the name and model of the poly caps I should use?
Those speakers looks amazing
Found a pair mach 2 at goodwill 30 bucks for the pair I need to reform the woofers .
What did you have to fix it because I have one just like it
Just bought a pair for $20, new foams on order.
Radio Shack sold those tweeters separately. "Dual Radial Super Horn Tweeter" catalog number 40-1377 for $16.95 each in 1989.
Pretty cool! Honestly I'm pretty floored at how good some old speakers sound with modern gear and source material. There's a distinct sound character I recognize from my younger years hearing those, especially with the Michael Jackson tune. The high res music revealed a little buzz I'm thinking on the right speaker, a little in the country and it really seemed to jump out with the female vocalist right before lunch time. Cool old speakers though and they're in phenomenal condition. Tandy actually made some really nice cabinets and hit a few home runs. The main difference between the Mach one and Mach two, (and i think they had a short run of Mach) threes... maybe? Not sure on that, but the Mach one is a MTW sealed design. They offer a more mellow and smooth sound without drawing much attention to which driver is doing what. More of a thinly veiled quality with a less concussive bass punch. The Mach twos are a TMW ported design with a tweeter which offers a bit of a vertical and forward soundscape. Th1e bass is a little blah, but a more efficient design than the original. The Mach two could easily DJ a house party or play classical jazz and orchestral, but overall sound quality was very good. I want a pair!
Thanks. Probably something in the room buzzing I suspect. The guy I sold them to is very happy. I'm really not a fan of the Mach 1 after rebuilding them. Overall the pioneer CS-r series speaker is more limited in output capability, especially bass, but I'm still floored by the phenomenal imagery and detail of those horns.
Sorry I'm not convinced with that choice of track, some kind of bass line would have been a better demo for us all.
What receiver you running them on
Too much interconnection and switchgear
My eyes tell me that they should sound bad. the cones look like they're made of plastic which makes my brain think would make them sound dull in terms of texture in the low and midrange.and im allergic to things blocking the tweeters. i've been collecting the old NS s-34 for a while to make a budget dolby atmos setup where every speaker is the same. so i removed the plastic pieces infront of the tweeters and they sound so much better. and then calibration on top of that makes them even better. also took them to a friends music studio which has good acoustic treatment and that ofc made them sound even better still. well above their current price used. But funny thing is that they go much better with a sony receiver rather than a yamaha one. the yamaha receivers all sound a bit dark and dull to me. Onkyo is a decent match with those as well. . But since they are a bit hard to come by i have had my eyes on these for a while but never bought a pair to try just because they have those plastic looking transparent cones making me quite skeptic of them. People keep saying they are great but people are still selling them used all over which makes me even more of a skeptic. Too bad the video has too much room sound making it hard to tell how they actually sound. Zzz

Hi, are these sp-9001s or sp-9000s?
Mids seem to be of balance and reduced!
They lack mid bass
I just got some of these second hand and they don't sound very good! I wonder if maybe my amp is not good enough (Aiyima A07). I've switched back to my Sony SS-DX50 and it sounds clear and full. Sounds kind of low quality through the 777s! I'm wondering if it might sound better if I had a 'real' amp. Happy with my smaller speakers though, sounds so much clearer and sharper.
Going to go and pick some of these up in an hour! Someone is moving house so got it for an outrageously good price!
My boss had a pair of these exact Bose 701, sitting in his attic, for at least eight years ( that I know of). He was gonna' throw them out to the curb, for trash pick up. He asked me if I wanted them. I took 'em. They sit in my living room: hooked up to my Cambridge Audio AXR100 stereo receiver. Honestly, they sound great. Very forgiving of all the ( not so greatly recorded) 60's, 70's, 80's and 90' music I love. Very enjoyable to listen to, with no irritation to my ears. But high quality ( " audiophile standard " ) recordings sound great. Bass is good. Even bluray movies or streaming movies: sound great. The dialogue is much better, than it was prior to the 701. The only thing I want to try: is to switch the left and right speakers positions; so the midrange drivers are angled to the front listening position. Just curious if I hear any improvement or difference. Otherwise, they are perfect for the livingroom high traffic area. And especially for free. Thank you, Boss!!
Had this till it died around 2000. A True Beast
According to my cs-r700 user manual, FB stands for free beating.
I still own the STA200D that is was before the STA 2100D it work Perfectly as Yesterday. Got Turn Table on it. Double Cassette Tape, CD Player I even Hookup to my Laptop for Quality Sound from TH-cam CD's etc..Oh, Still have My Match one Speakers. I had it since 1980. Of course I have to change the Turn Table for a New one and a New Double Cassette Tape Deck that was it.
Jaw drop. Holy Grail.
If you really want to here how good the Bass response is on these baby's , listen to the drum solo at the end of " Wish you were here" from Alice coopers Go to hell album. It will blow your socks off. Play it loud. Let me know when you do, I would be interested in your thoughts. I had a set of Mach 1 's with a set of optimus 3way 75 watts sitting on top. Total of 12 speakers , it really separated the sound. I only sold them as they took up too much room.
Bonjour, j'ai le même amplificateur, j'ai viré les transistors et j'ai mis 2 TDA 7293 + j'ai remplacé le pot de volume, ça marche nickel.
