Hey man, thanks for the good lesson, even though I play metal, most of the time, it's really helping me to improve my playing, specially when I play some Latin music.
i have been experimenting with that and it works with every pop-brand stand (i got pearl, adams, hayman here) just take the tom with the tom holder from your kit and dismount (or just replace) the cymbal holder with the tom. i came to the conclusion that the basic set-up is more balanced, unless you're like a jazz drummer and whant your toms closer to your snare. but any big brand will do, that's because those brands use the same measurements and allow you to mount different sizes

I learned drumming by ear playing mostly death metal with the hi-hat locked down and as a result my left foot is basically gimped compared to the rest of my limbs...it's not even a close comparison. I now enjoy playing many styles, and I want to fix this....Any other lessons recommended to help me get my hi hat foot playing (especially in combination with grooves using my hands, opening/closing dynamics, etc...) up to speed?
