Jay, I am surprised you did not mention the block jet gasket issue. I turned my wheels jetting with the JD jet kit on my '18. I ended with a Keihin carb through JD and it came with the jet kit. I Could have saved 80 bucks on a JD jet kit for the Mikuni, and many hours trying every single jet and needle setting, with trail testing to never get it to run right.
The problem with most peoples carbs is the jet block gasket, which is beneath the tamper proof screws and does not come as part of any carb rebuild kit, it's only a nitrole rubber gasket/o rings in one piece, doesn't last forever, you can try and tune and re jet all you want, but if your jet block (mid body gasket) is screwed, then you are wasting your time, I know of two guys who decided their carbs were no good, and they paid huge money for lectron carbs, all that was wrong with their carbs was a $15 gasket for the jet block, I know....I bought their carbs and they were perefctly fine after a new gasket.
I run a JD Jetting Kit on my TM EN 300 2Stroke. The Carburator is a Keihin PWK 38, did all the seals on the Carb and put the JD Kit in. Runs perfect since. >:) Great product i have to say, greets from Switzerland. :D Also check your Reed Valves, needed to change them too.
I bought the kit for my ‘19 ktm250sx. I did all the recommendations; 3rd clip, mj 430 pj32.5 and 1.5 air screw. It runs good but the spark plug is white(lean) still after a couple rides down the street.
Jay brings up a good point about the JD kits , If you go tuning with just your credit card, you can easily spend more than the cost of the kit ( 2 needles, 4 mains, 4 pilots would probably come close to $100), and still miss the mark. I've never tried one of these kits, but I have a couple riding buddies that use them and are satisfied.
You have to do the O-ring fix in the jet block on these carbs, any jetting is worthless unless you do that first. These carbs are awesome but come with a bad o-ring in the jet block from the factory. See my channel for the fix. Beautiful 125 in this video!
@@TepcoCycleRepair Mine was about 3hrs. I assume they had the tpi coming out and bought the cheapest carbs they could get, which I would guess we're a batch of old stock Mikuni's. The rubber looked like rubber off of one of my 30 year old bikes.

These mikunis are just wacky. Got a 2022 150sx with default factory jetting and it wouldn't idle unless I turned the air screw a quarter turn out. Friends 2019 125sx wouldt get into powerband in 1st, 2nd gear and very burbly, choked up once it got on pipe. Used jd jetting kit but it was still burbly but it was better than before. So he turned in the air screw more than the recommended 1.5 out and it ran way better then. We are very close to sea level.
Having the same issue with my 22 150, I was thinking about buying a Keihin carb or trying the jet block gasket. Also close to sea level at around 200ft elevation.

Motoseat can make up whatever you want-
