    I have been asked this question numerous times, so let me address it as a whole. It is safe for the ac to be wet when it rains. The ac it self pulls moisture out the air, removes humidity, and turns it into water that is dispensed around where the outside fan spins. The water benefits the ac by the fan sloshing it around. It makes the unit run bettter overall if some water is being sloshed around and being dispersed on the condenser. One thing I will note is that if it rains heavily and it’s in the ac’s direction too much water might build up and cause the fan motor to bog when starting up so if it becomes a problem you might want to turn off the unit until it stops raining to not stress the fan motor. Also I recommend taking off the whole metal casing and washing the inside of the ac every 2 years. Another thing is you want to make sure the ac is angled slightly downwards just a tad bit down the back end that’s out the window so it can properly collect and not too much build up on the hottest days when it has to pull a ton of humid water out the air.

    TIP: immediately after unboxing, and before installing the other parts, plug it in and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes to make sure it actually works. This way if you have to take it back to the store, you don't have a lot of pieces to take back off and repack. I learned this the hard way.

    You’re the first video that came up when I came home with my a/c. I have central air, but they put the 1000# or more unit in our attic!!! Really! I didn’t realize that when I bought the house, because so couldn’t pay attention with my two kids at inspection. So it’s like going into hell changing the filters and for some reason, they’re always dirty. I imagine sue to my dogs and cats hair. It’s so hot up there you start to pass out without an ice towel wrapped around your head. Anyhow you’re video is great! I love how you show us as you go. You don’t edit the parts out where you’re trying to figure out how to place the bracket. It helps me to see how to not make that mistake. I also love how easy you’re to listen to. You’d make a great teacher with how simple you tak about everything. I had to do my own thing since my window shuts horizontally and is kind of narrow (just 2 extra inches on either side after the conditioner is put), but it was good to know how the whole thing is supposed to be put together. I'm still missing the sun shade. Did you ever put some shade above the conditioner to protect it from the sun?

However, the dimensions of this unit is 16 inches, so if I don't add the side panels, it will fit. Is there any reason why this can't work? Also, my window is a horizontal sliding window. What would be the best way to secure this unit in my window? Thanks for your help.

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When they say minimum 23 inches that means with both side panels installed and collapsed completely towards the unit and even having only one would be too wide for your window. You must install it with no side panels and find a way to fill in the remaining inch gap whether it piece a piece of wood, insulation or what ever you can improvise with.

    • @topfin8441

      This ac was not designed to be put in that style of window. The only way it would work is if you built a wooden frame around the ac and put it in the window but it would be a whole wooden ply board it would look kinda ugly but that’s really the only way you can put that ac in that window. You can cut a whole that fits the unit in a piece of board and make sure the board fits in the window. Other than that the only other option would be to buy a portable ac which is double the price and not as good but the tube and frame would fit in the window and close.

    Quick question how do you deal with rain with this AC?

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Is it possible to install this type of ac to a casement window?

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry for the late reply, but it depends. It will need special installation and people cut a hole in a board that would fit that kind of window and put the ac in the middle of the board and seal it and put it in the window. In my opinion that is ugly, and not sure if you can make the window open all the way so the ac can stick out or not. In that case, people tend to turn to portable ac for those kinds of windows. They are double the price, bulky, and don’t work as good as a window ac, gut they are better than nothing in that kind of situation.

    How do you set Constant Fan?

    • @wralford
      @wralford ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, the manual says that when set in Coor or Dry mode, by default the unit is set at Econ, which means the fan is automatically turned off once the compressor cycles off.
      Turning off the Econ mode will keep the fan on.

    How long is the cord? Thanks

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The window ac should be about 5 feet or less from the outlet in window. When you plug it in the outlet, only have the ac plug dedicated to the outlet, don’t add another electronic. Do not use extension cords like the orange ones. They sell a special ac extension cord that can be purchased separately if more length is needed.

    Do you keep it on fehrenheit or Celsius ?

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You keep it on based what your country uses. in America it’s Fahrenheit. Only 2 counties in the world use Fahrenheit. All others use Celsius. Unless you like to use Celsius anyways

    How do u drain the water thoroughly

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You don’t need to unless the machine is making so much water that it’s stopping or bogging the fan motor making it slow the water actually helps the unit run better but if it bogs or slows down you might have to drill a tiny small drain hole on the bottom of the ac in a very careful spot as not to hit any of the ac internals while drilling the hole

      Maybe the AC unit that you have is too small for the square footage of the space that you want to cool.

    Does it have a drain hole

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No and it Doesn’t need one anyways the water helps the ac but if it gets too much water and the fan starts to slow down then you would have to create your own drain hole on the bottom by drilling a hole in the bottom pan but you gotta be careful.

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You have to improvise your own way such as build a frame to mount the ac as it was only designed for windows that open top to bottom. Or you can use a portable ac with the big tube thar will fit the window and bulky unit but it’s twice the price

    What If you have sliding windows

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to build a frame for the ac that would hold the ac in the window because this ac is not meant for those kinds of windows or you have to use a portable air conditioner which I consider worse and more expensive

    Can you turn these on when it rains?

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and the water that gets in the machine actually is helpful in cooling, but too much rain will cause the fan to bog and have a hard time rotating outside, so if that happens I would turn off the machine until the rain stops. That is in a very heavy rain storm that blows onto the unit, but like a normal shower or rain should be fine and water is good for the machine.

    Is this even legal mr what you are doing? What in the world do i do if HOA fines me for doing this what you are showing can this get me in trouble with HOA??? By the way i like whole head of hair you have i use to have whole head of hair like yours decades ago & happen to be I was caught up in a severe blizzard wind storm in the Midwest many years ago & literally ripped my hair & scalp back that caused much all my hair loss i will never forget that horrific day it happened.

    • @topfin8441
      @topfin8441  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It is your responsibility as an individual living in your HOA community to contact them and ask on their policies on window air conditioners. My hoa did not allow it, and I took it out in the end since receiving a letter in the mail. I actually contacted them my self and they said they did not allow it but I still put it up until I got the letter 3-4 months later. The next year, I moved out of that neighborhood and moved into a new construction house 2 floors that has dual thermostats. Since the move I have never complained about it ever being hot. That being said I still have the unit and my bedroom is in my backyard the window and no one can see if I set it up. And legal is a bit of a stretch of a term because it’s not a law to not have a window ac in ur window, it is a bullshit covenant rule that the hoa put out and enforced by fining you and putting a lien on your home if you want to move out if they want to take it that far. You agreed to those rules when joining your neighborhood and signing up for your homeowners association. I personally did not chose to live in an hoa community as I was 16-17 at time of filming but I would like to move out soon if possible on a single wide mobile home in my early 20s buy one and buy the land and put it on there 10 mins away from my house far way from any neighbors, neighborhoods, or hoas especially. thank for you the compliment and I am very sorry to hear about what happened to your scalp back then.
