The “Jesus Christ looks like me” line is an inside joke. Someone said to Peter in the street “you look like Jesus Christ” so he said to them “Jesus Christ looks like me”.

Yes! I want to tell that story every time I see someone get bent out of shape over that lyric.
Very similar to the Beatles misunderstanding over a Jesus quote.

No hope = no fear."

Peter's entire musical career was sarcastically taking the piss. Like, Carnivore had songs on the same album that politically, philosophically, morality etc. wise took completely different stances. Even in the same songs he'd switch up the entire meaning of everything that came before it.

Peter knew their music was cheesy and that was their schtick. I got to meet the band after a concert one night and they were not acting like Vamps just real people who laughed and joked. But as a little goth girl in her 20's Jeeyaysus! I am short so I came just up to his elbow! Their stage show was completely dark and sexy. Yes it was Vampire themed and so very gothic. While they took the performance seriously, they didn't take Goth lifestyle like something real. They just catered to masochism and the whole Vampire fetish. Not to mention that their music was original and literally imposed an emotion of just... Darkness. The videos were part of the flavor of the genre though that is how we saw them first and learned who they were and what their performance was about. It is VERY important to note they were doing a JOB that catered to horney little goths and they poked fun at that in every interview they did. And I was okay with that. *laugh* cause DAyum. He was so haWt.

Peter Steele's voice is large like everything else about him. He stood 6'8" WITHOUT HIS BOOTS, he was almost 7 feet tall with shoes lol! He would bring a bottle of red wine to the stage , he had stage fright, the wine helped him too chill, also you always knew when it was the last song , at the end of it Peter would pull all of his bass strings out because he didn't believe in Encores.

When Autumn comes along each year I think of these guys and these songs with deep fondness. I even FB messaged Kenny Hickey (the guitarist and backing vocalist) to tell him after Pete died how much their music meant to me and he actually responded! I got to meet Peter and shake his hand and sit down with the band backstage after a show once in Austin TX. It was a surreal experience I will NEVER forget (I was completely gobsmacked). I'm SO glad after all these years that people are still discovering and rediscovering their music. RIP to the Greenman.

@@Torchbearer666 There was some overlap between the bands, I think it was a Type O drummer who went to join LoA, or maybe it was the other way around. Didn't know LoA were contributing to the choir, though.

@@thossi09 You're not wrong man. Sal, whose last record with TYpe O was BK, left after Peter broke up the band during this era. Once the record started flying off the shelves and getting great opening slots, Peter had no choice but to leave his job at the Parks Department and focus on the band full-on. At this point, Sal had already left and joined LOA and played on 5 of their 7 records. They contributed to the choir on this album and possibly others. The choir was usually miscellaneous friends that we're around at the time.

I'm totally new to your channel here today Gents. This was great, and I'm subscribing to your channel now! When this Album/CD came out in 1994 I was in my early 20's and had been heavily into a party scene. Two of my cousins worked at a strip club shaking their money maker and I'd go hang out there drinking for free and doing other tips that were given to them buy patrons. That is where I first heard this song, it was played by a little gal coworker of theirs who would dress up in this dononatrix style get up, including a whip as she got on stage. As for the song. It was quite interesting, hard and different than the metal I was used to. It prompted me to purchase the CD and it quickly became a favorite of mine. Every single song on it is quite a piece of art. Their remdition of Summer Breeze floored me.
Thankfully four year's later I reached a point where I got myself sober and continue on that path today, but Bloody Kisses is still high on my list of musical favorites. Peter Steele was a differently gifted genius and sorely missed!
    Ahh, the memories of yesterday!

Doom/ Goth metal Steele’s voice is so deep and dark it fits perfectly... I’m more of a classic metal guy but I love this band

Be my Druidess is a great track. Their album "October Rusr" has some real gems.
Do more Kyuss songs as well, if you're into grooves.

October Rust is the best headphone record since Pink Floyd hung it up.

Love these guys. Great attitude, never afraid of opening their mind to different styles of music, and more importantly, they try to UNDESTAND what's to like in it, even if they disagree. And it's not that easy to open yourself like this, and you can clearly see they don't to it "just for the show", they are passionate music lovers.
