Awww Thank you my sweet friend that is such a beautiful compliment! You truly have a beautiful spirit!!! (((Hugs))) and kisses from California ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️ Liz
Awww you are so sweet BethMendoza! I appreciate your kind words and encouragement. This was my first time planting paper whites so I was surprised when they came up so early. But now I am learning that paper whites actually bloom in December. What a surprise to me that’s for sure I guess we are always learning something new in the garden every day right. I wish you lots of success with your garden and thanks again for taking the time to visit me. ❤️😀Liz
That definitely is a happy place! My space is not much bigger as I am in a city neighborhood too but you sure have maximized the space! I don't think it's the size that matters but the way it's used. Many people have much more but don't feel blessed or happy with what they have. I love the quote: Grow where you are planted". Thanks for sharing all the lovely color you have in your zone! I can't wait for spring!
Oh my goodness lalaydade3364 I LOVE that quote, Grow where you are planted.” I have never heard that before that is actually very true. In other words, we are right where God wants us to be. Thank you for taking the time to visit me. I sincerely appreciate your kind words and encouragement. Yes I can’t wait for spring as well. To see what blessings God brings to my garden. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing weekend. ❤️👍😇 Liz
Awww Thank you so much for your kind words rookiegardeningjournal, I appreciate you taking the time to visit me and hope you have a wonderful day! 🌸😀Liz
Awww thank you Nell I am so glad you found that tip helpful. I had no idea either and those garden centers and nurseries sure will never tell us about that. I learned about that from watching other TH-cam videos. And there is so much more information about the tropical milk weed that I didn’t share. That is very good to know. Well, I appreciate you taking the time to visit me and hope you have an amazing weekend. ❤️❤️❤️Liz
Gosh, your December garden is so pretty! I e watched this video twice! Here I am waiting on spring. Maybe I’ll go outside and kick some leaves around this afternoon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful blooms!💚
Awww thank you so much Patty! I appreciate your kind words and encouragement. I love the idea of kicking leaves around, we all need a little fun! 💚 Liz
Aww the birds have left you a holly tree, I have had 2 over the years and I’ve put them against my fence to grow as a structure 😀 this year as flown by and your garden is still beautiful 🥰
Good morning Jasmine I love the way you put it so sweetly how the birds have left me a holly, as if it was a gift. I totally love that. Maybe I will try to dig it up and replant it somewhere else that is such a great idea. Thank you for your kind words Jasmine. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Happy New Year!!! 🌸💜😀Liz
Hi Liz - your garden is still looking so vibrant and happy even at the end of December. I've got self-seeded Nasturtiums for the first time - very exciting. If I can manage I'll plant some more seeds - herbs and flowers that like cooler weather for next year's spring garden. Happy New Year, and thanks for all the inspiration all year long!
Good morning Rose it's so nice to hear from you. Yay that is so exciting that your nasturtiums love your garden so much they came back on their own!!! From my experience, it seems like the cool season flowers That reseed are always the strongest and most prolific . I believe you will be happy once they start to bloom. And I’m sure you already know this, but I have learned that nasturtium do better if you do NOT fertilize them. Fertilizer gives nasturtiums a lot of leaves, but less flowers. (hope that helps if you didnt already know) Thanks for all your support this year Rose and I hope your Nasturtiums thrive! Happy New Year! ❤️❤️❤️ Liz
Im so happy I could help. I learned that the hard way. I had a big beautiful plant with lots of beautiful green leaves hardly any flowers. I learned about that from other TH-camr. Have a great day and happy gardening. 🧡🧡🧡 Liz
Love your garden! I’m pretty sure you’ve got an oak tree seedling there. Probably a squirrel buried an acorn. It happens to me a lot and I’m also in California zone 9b
Oh, that’s probably true! I’ve never seen a squirrel in my yard before but I’m sure they are lurking around somewhere! Thanks for stopping by rutabagastuff6953! 👍❤️😀 Liz
Hi Liz, It's wonderful that you still have so much color and green out in your garden...here mine is all sleeping - at this time of year I'm always wishing for more evergreen winter interest, I have some and little by little I'm working on adding more! I am grateful to have my little garden space too - it's good for my mind body and spirit ❤ 🎉 😊 Happy New Year ✨️
Good morning Andrea and thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes for sure. Evergreens do add some life and interest even when our gardens go to sleep in the winter. (maybe a camellia?) Our gardens are always a work in progress aren’t they? Hahaha It sounds like you have been blessed with a little garden space as well. It’s so nice to see you. Appreciate what you have. Thanks again for your lovely comment, I hope you have a happy new year! 🙏😇❤️👍Liz
Oh Liz,you are too funny! Gardening in the ghetto-I was cracking up. Love, love, love your sunflowers! So bright and cheerful. Now that Christmas is over, I am ready for spring. I know winter just started, but I am so looking forward to spring flowers. I hope you had a very merry Christmas and hope you have a happy new year ❤
Thank you so much, Ginger. I’m glad my video made you smile. Yes, I too am looking forward to spring. Isn’t it funny how in the summertime when temperatures are 115° I am praying for winter. Now I am anxious for the garden season to start. Hahaha I hope you have an amazing new year and thanks again for stopping by. 🥰❤️ Liz
Hey there Heidi thanks so much for subscribing! I am so glad you are enjoying my videos and I hope they give you some inspiration for your own garden. Does your garden in Southern California get sun, shade or both? I am happy to give you some suggestions depending on what type of sun exposure it gets. ❤️❤️❤️ Liz
Even though it's small you have lots of pretty plants and cute things, looks like its private also...my yard is big and private, my neighbors hardly ever go outside, I spend lots of time in my yard so I know.
Hey there Barbara so sweet of you to leave me this nice comment. I agree It is nice to have a yard where you can relax and enjoy nature. For the most part, I would say my garden is private. I get so lost in my own little world. I haven’t really noticed any neighbors lurking hahaha sounds like you are very lucky to have a little sanctuary of your own 😊 I appreciate you taking the time to visit me! 🥰❤️👍 Liz
Good Morning Liz! Enjoying your video with my morning coffee ☕️ ❤ I too have not planted my bulbs, still in my garage refrigerator😬 Your garden is so colorful, I LOVE IT so much! The yellow rose is beautiful 💛 I also appreciate how you kept on pushing through your video even with all of the background noise. I feel that every time our cameras come out so does the noise 😂 I added a pink jasmine last end of spring and I can’t wait to smell the blooms in the spring. Also, Garden Happy is a perfect name for your channel ☀️😍🌻🌻🌻 because I don’t think there is any way that someone can see your garden and not feel HAPPY 💛😁🥰
Oh Diane… your comments are always sweet and encouraging!!! My new year resolution is to get my bulbs in pots next week! Hahaha Thank you for taking the time to visit me. Lets meet up for coffee soon (maybe early spring) or sooner! I have some questions I want to ask you about wireless mics and how they work. Have a great day and thanks again for your comment. 😇🌸👍Liz
Thank you for reminding me to put my tulip bulbs in the refrigerator. And no i haven't planted any bulbs yet. You're ahead of me. Your garden looks so colorful and pretty! Hope you have a Happy & Blessed New Year!😊❤
Good morning Jerilynn… glad to know I’m not the only late bloomer (no pun intended) hahaha now that the holidays are over, and all the chaos has calmed down, I hope to get those bulbs in pots soon! Appreciate you taking the time to visit me and hope you have a blessed day! ❤️👍😇 Liz
What a delightful tour, Liz. Love your Kale, I always fail with it. Those little seedlings do look like my Larkspur so you are correct in that. Mine make it through the winter so yours should too. The bougainvillea is gorgeous, they won't live through the winter for me but I am trying one in the greenhouse in a pot. It has been so mild this year I don't know if it is a true test yet.
Hey there, Pam, thanks for the confirmation about the Larkspur. If it survives your winter, then I would imagine it will survive mine. I find that very exciting to know being that it did so well in my garden last year I am looking forward to more of their flowers. This was the first year. I grew kale and I absolutely love it. I’m wondering why it did not do well for you. Maybe it’s too cold where you are? Crazy how same Garden zones can be so different. Good luck with the Bougainvillea and your greenhouse. I will be anxious to see how it does for you. Thanks for stopping by and happy new year! 👍❤️😀 Liz
Good morning Shirley thank you for taking the time to visit me. It sounds like it is very cold in the UK ( Southport) i’m sure once all that I smelt in the sun rotates above our earth more, spring will be absolutely beautiful for all of us. Happy New Year and thanks again for the comment! ❤️👍😇 Liz
Your garden is still looking colorful and beautiful . I’m in Texas zone 9b and I still have color as well. I haven’t had much success with nasturtiums. Enjoy
Hi Myrah thank you for the compliment about my garden looking colorful. Since you are in Texas, I’m sure you still have a lot of color as well. Maybe the nasturtium is just a little bit too picky for your Texas heat. They definitely like the cooler weather in spring or late fall have you ever tried planting it in those cooler off-season? I appreciate you taking the time to visit me and hope you have an amazing rest of your day. 👍😀 Liz
Good morning Rikkeknudsen thank you for taking the time to comment! Wow I wonder how the heck that holly or mistletoe got there? Maybe a bird pooped out a seed! Hahaha I appreciate you taking the time to comment! ❤️👍😀 Liz
Wow Lorenecollier thanks for letting me know. This was my very first time I planting them and I had no idea! I learn something new every day that is for sure. Appreciate your comment. 👍❤️😃 Liz
Good morning RobinByrdSong4408 thank you for taking the time to visit me. I appreciate your kind words and I’m happy you think my garden is beautiful even this time of year. As far as my tires go, I really do not do anything special to prepare them for planting. Basically all I do is stack one tire on top of the other then fill with soil. Of course I don’t plant any food in them because I have been told that tires can be toxic, so I always grow plants in them that I don’t eat. I know some people drill drainage holes, and I have tried that in the past, but I could not get a clean hole drilled through because of the rubber and steal threads in some. Perhaps I will make a video that answers your question better in the future. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I hope you have an amazing new year. 👍👍👍 Liz
Awwww Thank you so much Shaliniprasad4535 for your kind words! I appreciate you taking the tine to visit me and hope you get some lovely rain soon! 🌧️🙏 Liz
Awww you are so sweet SoulOfCanada01! Thank you for your kind words and support! I appreciate you taking the time to visit me and wish you a happy new year as well my new friend. ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️ Liz
Oh my goodness, Karen, that would make for a very interesting video to give you a tour of my neighborhood. I might lose a few subscribers if I do that. Hahaha but at the same time now I’m thinking that would be fun. I appreciate you taking the time to comment Karen. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 😀😀😀Liz
Your backyard garden still looking awesome.i love those cabbages or kale.also is that a japanese maple tree in blue pot next to paper whites? That looks a holy.it will grow into a tree.love that.the snaps dragon came back in my garden atleast for 3years. I consider it short live perrenial. Having sunflower in winter is crazy amazing..😊thanks liz.❤❤❤happy new year in advance.🙏
Oh my goodness Faye you are so observant. Yes that is a Japanese maple tree in the little pot next to my paper whites. I picked that up at the garage sale for .50 cents! I’m looking forward to seeing how it does next year. I’ve had people tell me that mystery plant is a holly and some people said it’s a oak tree. Either way I don’t think there is room for it in the space. It’s in now so I will probably pull it. That’s awesome. That snapdragons came back in your garden for three years. I’m always learning something new in the garden every day that is for sure. Thanks for stopping by Faye. 😁❤️👍 Liz
@GardenHappy you can pot that up to give a way or plant swap(holy?) Aok tree has bigger leaf.i have 2 holy and it looks the same as yours.very glossy and thick leaves.
OK, thanks for letting me know. Maybe you are right I should try to dig that up and put that in a pot. Great idea and suggestion. Thank you for your help. ❤️👍😀 Liz
Hey there Kat honestly, I don’t do anything special to keep my concrete clean. Every once in a while, I hose it down but maybe it looks nice because it just got done raining. Thank you for taking the time to comment. 👍👍👍 Liz
I’m always so inspired by your garden. My space is small like yours. How did you come upon your lay out? I really want to reorganize my garden, but all the gardening books, show gardens much larger than mine. I love your wooden beds. I think I mentioned before, I also use unusual items as garden planters/beds.
Hi Tracy, I really enjoyed reading your comment about your garden. I did not have a plan for my garden when I started creating it. It just kind of happened as it grew. I started making borders, then I added the planter boxes and it all just kind of came together without any planning. I appreciate your kind words. Yes I think I remember you telling me about using unusual items as planters. I love that. I’m glad to know. I’m not the only one in the world. Hahaha thank you for taking the time to visit me. I hope you continue to enjoy your sweet little Garden in the new year. 🌸😀👍 Liz
Your backyard may be small…..gigantic in a Gardener’s eye! I’m in zone 9B also (Inland Empire). For the past couple of years by July everything is fried in my backyard. I’m going to review your past videos and see what is working for you and try. 😊
Good morning GiGiM-1114 , thank you for taking the time to comment. I totally understand about our gardens taking their toll in July. It is so dry and hot here in the central Valley where I am and my garden really struggled this year. However, I will tell you the one thing that worked very well for me this year was Vinca. it totally stood up to the heat and bloomed all summer long. I highly recommend trying that in your garden next year . I also planted more things like agave. I am trying to find ways to make it more resilient to the summer heat! If you have any suggestions for me, I would love to hear what works well for you. Thank you again for your kind words and encouragement 👍👍👍 Liz
Oh my goodness Anna you might be right!!! That makes perfect sense. Maybe a bird pooped out the seed. I live in Oakdale California, not too far from Redding. May be a few hours? I appreciate you taking the time to visit me this morning. Hope you have an amazing new year. ❤️👍😀 Liz

Your garden looks amazing! Thanks for the tips about the milkweed. I had no idea!

❤️👍😀 Liz
What do you do to keep your concrete clean and neat? Thank you
Hey there Kat honestly, I don’t do anything special to keep my concrete clean. Every once in a while, I hose it down but maybe it looks nice because it just got done raining. Thank you for taking the time to comment. 👍👍👍 Liz
Beautiful! ❤️🥰
Thank you very much WifetoJohn I am so glad you think so! 😊❤️ Happy New Year! Liz

Thank you for your comment @28tv ❤️❤️❤️ Liz
That was an oak tree. Some nice bird left it. I'm in Redding - are you anywhere near by?
Oh my goodness Anna you might be right!!! That makes perfect sense. Maybe a bird pooped out the seed. I live in Oakdale California, not too far from Redding. May be a few hours? I appreciate you taking the time to visit me this morning. Hope you have an amazing new year. ❤️👍😀 Liz
