First class video. I've only been to San Diego a couple of time but each time I thought the trolly service looked neat. Your video confirms it. The happiest frame came at the end: 'to be continued'.
Nice video! I used to live in San Diego 4 years ago which I'm moving back next month; this video makes me more anxious! Thanks for the upload, great work!
I know! I have always wanted to go to Australia...must be nice! Melbourne is my favourite of all of the cities though. I hear it has opposite seasons! Winter is Summer there! So cool. I wanna go there someday. Why don't we keep in touch and talk about australia? Lol. BTW...I saw the system and it's huge! I love the new Flexity Outlook tram
Compare with videos or photos of these cars in Mendoza, Argentina. Their light rail opened in 2012 with 31 cars fr San Diego, plus 4 as parts sources. One car is at the trolley museum in Rockhill, PA. Commenter said 2 are at Orange Empire. Knoxville, TN had plans for light rail using 18 of these cars but Tennessee officials moved to practically outlaw light rail development as they did with bus rapid transit in Nashville.
Just had a thought, have you ever looked at videos of the trolly service in Prague? I've been there a few times and travelled on their their trolly service. It's quite an experience. It's both above and below ground. Worth a look.
Rob Catt Thank you Rob. As always, your comments are much appreciated. I've heard about the tram system in Prague and if I ever go international, it is something that I would definitely like to visit.
OMG! I was on the one at 4:50! I Remember going down to Washington Street from San Ysidro Tijuana To Visit My Grandma In the area. I remember being on that trolley and it showed the same people out there that I saw! Lmfao!
Mike H It will be a bittersweet day in SD MTS history. I will really miss those cars, as I grew up with them. Nice seating and a neat car design. Gone but not forgotten I guess.
CoasterFan2105 S70 low floor cars are already being tested, and the Blue Line is the final stages of renovation which should end by June. It will be sad, but the first few days of S70 service on that line will be hectic, as people are going to have to get used to the S70's seating capacity.
1 they have incompatible electrical coupling connections 2 they're not U2As. They're purely SD-100s. Those were the earlier cars like what Sacramento has. These cars are the upgraded version with newer electronics although they share the same body design.
Orange Empire actually has two U2's now. It's nice to see more modern equipment being preserved.
San Diego still has their first, and plans to use it with PCCs on the Silver Line.

We have the U2's here in Alberta, Canada in both Edmonton and Calgary. However, they are slowly being changed.
the calgary ones unfortunately are been slowly been retired instead of being refurbished which sucks
They should put old ones on the middle of calga4y transit ctrains like for example "SD160-U2-SD160"
@@ItzKKPlaysYT Not compatible. U2s use older electrical system. Same reason they couldn't be coupled to the SD-100s in SD.
I love this. I love San Diego. Thanks for sharing.
Great video shot's of PCC 529! My favorite vintage trolley car! I have a friend that restored that car!
If you ever come to Australia be sure to visit Melbourne. It has the largest tram system in the world!

Great job. Seeing your videos makes me want to visit San Diego.

“Sometimes” it’s SCARY being filmed that you DON’T even notice until you back & catch it on TH-cam 😂!!!
The new MTS trolley light rail system Transit is so new we have that kind of one but I never seen that kind of different trolley.
7:10, that's a nice catch. 👍
Hello Mike i have been on sandeigo trolley before i like this video thanks for putting it !🚝🚆🚉🍓
Nothing better than hearing the Doppler effect when listening to trains.
That trolly is beautiful
Miss downtown San Diego 😢
Awesome!
2:16 never seen a 2 car train on the SD light rail. Nice catch.
In usa massacutes there green trains that are 2 cars
Happens all the time
@@blue9multimediagroupJust, not on the blue line
San Diego's blueline has an extension that goes up to UCSD- very good views of mission bay from the cars
5:25 that was a pretty nice horn action tbh
Good video, i like those LRV
U2's are going away next week, as the blue line will make it's transition to S70/SD100 service. Long live the U2's.

San Diego lost their trolleys sometime in the early 50's, but were smart enough to bring them back!
good video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice Video Mike
U2 cars seem to have disappeared from the blue line, as it is now S70 with SD100's in the middle of the 3 car trainset.
The last day I saw the U2's in service was last Tuesday. I think after that, they were completely replaced by the new S70 cars.
CONGRATULATIONS MILLION 125.244 ❤
+CoasterFan2105, Can You Upload "Train Driver" TH-cam Videos, Pretty Please ? :-D
There is 2 U2s at the trolley yard they are 1001 and 1050, and the 1050 paint looks faded
What if the train goes on a railroad crossing? As in coaster type?
Huh?
whats that noise at 0:50?
It's a canon demonstration on one of the "tall ships" in the San Diego bay.
CoasterFan2105 oh, was it really loud?
Not that loud.
CoasterFan2105 there must've been some insane echo right?
operate 24 hours?
There is a 4 hour or so window in the middle of the night when they don't run so that freight can run on the line.
I have been on that train
0:00 looks like fast diesel train????
How come they didn't mix the U2's with the SD100's but for the NEW S70's they couple the SD100's in a the middle??
I was told that it has to do with the couplings between the cars but that may be incorrect.
T Bone I think they are also called called U2A's
1 they have incompatible electrical coupling connections
2 they're not U2As. They're purely SD-100s. Those were the earlier cars like what Sacramento has. These cars are the upgraded version with newer electronics although they share the same body design.
