5:50 There's one aspect that many people forget about the very slow torpedoes on the Elbing - they're incredibly stealthy. The regular detection range of those torpedoes is so low that they're right upon you when you first see them, provided you're not having hydro running. Against anyone running hydro, they're very much worthless. You'll have ages to dodge them. Against unawares enemies, they'll need to react when the torpedoes are just a couple hundred meters away, which is not a lot of time.
I remember when I was hunting a sub in my Gaede. I was so focused on just killing the bastard that I didn't notice he wasn't fully submerged and I ran right over him in my mad charge to drop depth charges. He died and I lived, so I considered it a win, and I was so pleased to have so utterly disrespected a submarine captain by literally running him over in my surface ship.

I kind of value torpedo range much more than speed, especially in a destroyer, because the closer you are to the enemy, the higher the chance you will die, but both are important in the end...
Jutland and Daring are very good destroyers - you always fit a speed flag and spec them up with Swift in Silence. RDF is useful but it's also dangerous if you assume what it tells you is correct. Well played Bees though, some superb skills on display.
What is funny is that Jingles calls Torpedos bad, which go at least 10 knots faster than anything any Navy had in WW2. The Us developed the Mark 48 adcap after the russians fielded Submarienes that could go over 40 knots submerged. Even today most Torpedos do not exede speeds of 60 knots except Schkwal and that has only a pretty short range.

He played very well, but he makes a mistake at about 16:00 by turning right instead of just making a beeline toward A. Either way he caps B and kills the Napoli with his guns. But if he just heads straight to A he wins on points at the end. Still, you can't be too hard on the guy. Most players would not have done anywhere near as well as he did (probably myself included).
I ran into this player a couple of weeks ago. Checked - definitely not the battle I was in which is just as well. I gave them a plays well at the beginning of the game just for name as it was that sort of day. They earnt it later
I've played so many games like this in the Daring. It's such a good ship, but consistently not able to carry games because of the lack of speed. Of course, usually a kraken, or even just 3 kills, is enough to push your team into the win column. But when it isn't, it's incredibly frustrating. So it goes, I guess. This was a remarkable series of clutch play by Ohnonotthebees. I can only imagine the adrenaline rush squeezed between all those ships just below B cap. Usually when something like that happens to me, I get hydroed or radared, or my smoke ends at just the worst time with a spotter plane overhead, and I'm insta-killed. Oh the joys of being a DD player at tier 10!
If their is one thing i hope WG doesn't touch when it comes to sub balance, its the RPF skill, much as i hate the fact that as a sub you are detected by it unless at max depth, it works like that old system where you got close enough to sub to start tracing its location, and i kinda like that.
It's strange that subs go twice as fast as they originally did. Like balao goes in game submerged 17 knots but in reallity only 7. On surface in game 25 knots but normal 17 knots. Thats a big differents and there are ships that much slower then that. Like the Oklahoma that has only a top speed of 19,7 knots , even submerged a sub is almost as fast, therr are some differentses between them but if W.G. says they try to be as accurate as possible then don't give them such a speed buff that the ships aren't historically correct anymore .
Knew as soon as he went right around the island in the middle cap this was a loss as soon as he seen both ships running he should have been full speed to the other cap those couple of seconds of uncertainty by him cost him the W unfortunately great effort by him tho!
Even if he had Cunningham on it, it would have been enough. He provides a 8% speed increase if you get two flooding ribbons which he had right at the start...
Aight, not to shit on his performance, but i personally would´ve gone south of the B cap around the island instead of north, that would´ve probably meant that he would´ve been in the A cap at least 3 seconds earlier, that would´ve been a win and he would probably still have been in range for the kill on the Cruiser as well. There is only so much a single ship can do, so in that situation i would´ve focused on THE most useful thing i could´ve achieved instead of trying to do it all. Still very well played.
Their mistake was not going straight to A cap when he got B, he went the long way around the island, my first thought was "no, just go straight through and head to A" ...turns out that would have been just enough to win the game. Not sure what his thought process was at the time but oh well, gg
pretty sure the golden lion had lost sight of the napoli at the end-so going straight to A would have resulted in being short of the points for the Napoli kill. But considering the lack of what? 10 seconds in the end, those could have come from any giving point in the game. Thing is: you rarely expect to be in need of 10 secs at the end of a match ;)
Pretty sure all you need to do to avoid german 2ndaries is start turning to 1/3 either side once you see the shells fired and release the turn once 1/3 turn is achieved. Tier10 bbs would be lucky to hit you with their small guns.

I mean, it makes sense that you can't shoot at a submerged submarine; the shell would explode in the surface, and perhaps the shock wave wouldn't be powerful enough to cause damage if it's a DD gun. Maybe a BB's gun should be allowed to cause some damage with HE since it's got a lot of explosive mass. Tho I agree it's stupid that Damage Control removes Submarine sonar pings... like, what?
