Beastie Boys music is "THE" soundtrack to a generation's life.
Still is and always will be.
I feel that !!!!!
they were the Soundtrack to my 80's
I have no idea how I forgot about this song.
AD-ROCKs voice is everything
I completely agree! Ad Rock is my jam for days!
I've always preferd Mike's
I agree, but the beauty of the Boys IS that their style are individually so unique but they still blended perfectly.
I had seen them multiple times in the 1990s.
They always put on a good show and Ad-Rock was always on point.
mca
Still one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE BANDS. RIP MCA
this beer is raised to MCA
My all time favorite band....still makes me sad 😢
Fo reeeelz homes
I give thanks, for inspirations
2:00 when Mike D rhymes Commercial with COMMERCIAL, classic!!
Yeah he was supposed to say rehearsal the second time but messed it up. They liked it though
Too funny
When some dude randomly throws Adrock a basketball still gets me. You can see on MCA's face that shit wasn't planned. But Adrock just keeps going like it's nothing. Dope AF. RIPMCA
Good spot man - totally agree.
Shit is perfect, he mentions Clyde right then too AKA the man Walt Frazier
Clyde the glide drexler from the Portland trailblazers, name of his book as well.
I love how MCA sets the tone with his first verse, just kills it. Hell, this might be one of the best Beastie songs of them all.
"Everybody's rapping like it's a commercial, acting like life's a big commercial, so this is what I got to say to y'all: be true to yourself and you will never fall."
He was supposed to say "rehearsal" for the second instance of commercial but flubbed it. They just went ahead and kept it.
He's Mike Fuckin' D. He can rhyme commercial with commercial.
That hit me too..saw them on book tour few weeks ago in SF. What a class act. Still fun..chill..n flowin...RIP Mca!!
A real hiphop quoteable! 4 sure! ✌🤕🎤&💙bro
Thanks
Seriously what a group, I can't put in to words how unique these cats were, rip MCA 🙌🏻
I can.... sense of humour!
They were poopie
If you weren't around or growing up when Check Your Head came out, you really have no idea how impactful that album was.
Facts
I agree. I always say check your head is their best album. It was so original and fn good. They were in the zone when they made it. They were having fun and making great music.
Let’s hope some people bother to look at the roots.
Yessirrrrrrr
only 60s kids understand
Something I love about the Beastie Boys is that they made music because they wanted to. It's easy to see that they didn't give a shit about money or fame because, to them, it's just 3 friends making music for fun and the money and fame just happened to come with it. If they were nameless nobodies making $6 an hour at Walmart, they'd still be doing the same shit because they love the music and they love each other.
Where do people come up with things like this haha
@@ogamibirdflu5152 Maybe from the Beastie Boys book. Or the history they had with Def Jam, or just following the rest of mainstream music industry, or just listening to their albums and following the guys through the decades
Word .. thats how best music & artists were born
Yo $6 an hour was GOOD money in the 80s. Minimum was around $4
Naw, they were destined for stardom (with that talent) in a time when music needed something refreshing and new. They combine music, art, and film like masters of an alternate reality
Man... I just, I wish we had more music like this today. Beastie Boys were way, ahead of their time. Appreciate these three MC's so much. Thanks for passing the mic.
So ahead of there own time they got another chance in the year 3000
Just gotta look deeper, man.

These guys are dope enough Logic gave them a verse.
I used to rock this shit in my Walkman stoned af playing Mortal Kombat in the arcade
@Christina Azarian yeah, I can imagine that.

MCA rocking his Snowboard pants and Sorrels. You can even see his ski pass on his right leg pocket flapping in the wind What a beauty.
I cannot believe more people haven't LIKED this comment!!! ♥️♥️♥️
A phone call from Utah and I’m throwing a panic
My 14 year old daughter loves these guys. ADORES Mike D and has memorized so many lyrics. She actually reintroduced me to them.
That's tight!
@@prof3ssor178 she is vibing to "something's got to give" at this moment.
You're raising her right!
She should be listening to more contemporary music, like 'My Pal Foot Foot' by The Shaggs.
the Beastie Boys age like fine wine; shits still dope.
Track marks indeed!
He'll be layin down bars in heaven, RIP MCA
RIP, MCA.
still mowin down emcees at the pearly gates
God himself is hype by real hip hop
If you listen carefully, both MCA and BIZ MARKIE are laying down beats in Heaven.R.I.P to the both of them.
Hard to believe it's been so long ago now....I seen these guys for a $15 concert ticket
One of the best shows ever 🤘
❤ 😂 When? And Where?
The beat is out of this world
"One of Beastie Boys hardest song"🤷🏾♂️🔥🔥🔥🔥
For sure
I've seen skaters shred so bad ass to this song. It's like there's some energy in this song for them.
It's mandatory
I used to always listen to this when used to skate. Great memories😌

Back in the day, yes we did..funny that my brother and I were just discussing this.
Only the Beastie Boys sample Bad Brains!!!
I love this band, and I am so glad I got to see you guys live. You were pioneers and no one has touched you since.
R.I.P. MCA
beastie boys one of my favorite hip hop groups white boys. bad brains one of my favorite punk bands black dudes.
I got to see them live back in 85' for their License To Ill concert with Murphy's Law and Fishbone and what a show.
nobody now knows how to be cool.
Besties also had them on tour with them. I seen them play together in the late 90's in Sacramento. At least i think it was there. lol I was all fucked up in them days.

Damon Kelly i saw the open for Madonna, and they got booed
Well damn somebody gotta give love to my man Mike D! Always loved these guys, just iconic & genuine. RIP MCA, you are missed!
0:01 hug :3
2:34 hug :3
Knowing MCA passed on, it's dope seeing Ad Rock hug him in the beginning of the video!
This is TRUE old school.
lmao
It is they brought it back to the beginning when the gangster shit was banging
When Adrock spells his name and he’s wearing a different outfit for every letter 😂😂
One of the best things I ever saw
Thanks just noticed
Didn't know thanks.

This is the culture everyone should talk about
Beastie Boys didn't suck, they were amazing, people didn't like them cause they couldn't handle the level they were on… They changed the hip hop game with best intentions and succeeded RIP MCA.
I mean they bounced for 4 years at a time came back dropped a album and smashed like they never missed a beat! Their staying power was absence no-one can say that nowadays!
Dopest white boys to ever play the game.
@@mojaveranger9680 Legendary Game Changers For Sure 💯
And they were around in the early years already.
Whoever said they sucked?

"Everybody rappin like it's a commercial, acting like life is a big commercial" - Explains every single rapper out right now.
0:15 If you can feel what I’m feeling then it’s a musical masterpiece
1:26 I give thanks (thanks) for inspiration
2:00 Well, everybody’s rapping like it’s a commercial
straight up real hip hop.... destroys anything that is out right now...
Who else can rhyme "commercial" with "commercial" and still be dope as hell
HAHA i always thought the hook was "commercial acting like life is a big rehearsal"but it appears your right
Sam Schutte Lol. And then later they rhyme "A" with "A" when they say- "And now I'd like to pass the mic to the A....my name is M.C.A" Badasses!
It was suppose to be "commercial" and "rehearsal" but Mike D messed up and the Adam's wouldn't let him do another take. So they kept the two "commercial" in the mix.
Brad Query Well even though this was edited last year I have to say there are rappers who could easily destroy this better than beastie boys but this is a classic
a masterpiece... Beastie Boys forever
My goodness, what fun these young gentlemen were.
There will never be music like this again. We live in a different world where the definition of "Music " is not what we once knew. This needs to be cherish and shared for the world to hear.
Its alive, just not front page.
th-cam.com/video/WS2nS5PTuaY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KwBAPn21Vh_-2kxV
People often say Paul's Boutique is the best Beasties album but Check Your Head is the best imo. Love the instrumentation and the lyrics
This was when hip-hop emphasized the snare. Nowadays they have forgotten about the snare. Dat New York snare sound
me gusta saludes desde honduras.
No young deniro looked like him
These days it’s all about the auto tune
TheJofrica gots to have it bro
If anything, nowadays - the kick/bassdrum is overly emphasised
"be true to yourself and you will never fall" 🍀
you know what? the beastie boyz need to get that credit too for making NÜ METAL happen. just listen to their badass track gratitude.
[MCA]
If you can feel what I’m feeling then it's a musical masterpiece
If you can hear what I’m dealing with then that's cool at least
What's running through my mind comes through in my walk
True feelings are shown from the way that I talk
And this is me y'all, I emcee y'all
My name is MCA and I still do what I please
And now I’d like to introduce (what's up?)
I'll pass the mic to D for a fist full of truth
[Mike D]
The name is D, y'all and I don't play
And I can rock a block party 'til your hair turns grey
So, what you sayin'? I explode on site
I’m like Jimmy Walker I’m Dyn-o-mite
And now I’d like to pass the mic
To Adrock c'mon and do anything you like
[Adrock]
I’m the A-D-R-O-C-K
In the place with the bass I’m going all the way
I can't stop, y'all, tock tick, y'all
And if you think that you're slick you'll catch a brick, y'all
‘Cause I’mma turn it in and I’mma turn it out
But now I’ve got to pass the mic to Yauch
[MCA]
Well, on and on and on and on
I can't stop, y'all 'til the early morn’
So rock rock , y'all, tick tock, y'all
To the beat, y'all, c'mon and rock, y'all
[Adrock, MCA, & Mike D]
I give thanks for inspiration, it guides my mind along the way
A lot of people get jealous, they're talking about me
But that's just cause they haven't got a thing to say
[Mike D]
Well everybody rapping like it's a commercial
Actin' like life is a big rehearsal (he says commercial in the video but its an accident)
So this is what I’ve got to say to you all
Be true to yourself and you will never fall
And now I’d like to pass the mic to A
So what's your name, Yauch?
[MCA]
My name is MCA
I’ve been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul
And now I’d like to pass the mic (To who?)
To my brother Adrock c'mon and shine like a light
[Adrock]
Yes, yes, y'all and yes, yes, y'all
I’m always on time nevertheless, y'all
And that's right y'all, I shed light, y'all
I’ve got no time in my life to get uptight, y'all
So what you gonna say that I don't know already?
I’m like Clyde and I’m rockin' steady
But time flies when you're having fun
So Mike D? (That's me!) C'mon and get some
[Mike D]
M.I.K.E. to the D
You come and see me and you pay a fee
Do what I do professionally
To tell the truth I am exactly what I want to be
Now Ad-Rock (Huh?) and MCA (Yeah?)
Let's rock this joint in the old school way
[Adrock, MCA, & Mike D]
Well I’m on 'til the crack of dawn
Mowing down emcees like I’m mowing a lawn
I go off like nothing can faze me
You think we'll ever meet Stevie? one of these days, D
But I can stand my ground and I am down
To wax an emcee who acts like a clown
But for now, I’d like to ask you how
You like the feel of the bass in your face in the crowd
I refuse to read that. Their songs are best kept in our heads with the lyrics we think they say, even if we get a lot wrong.
"So rock rock, y'all, tick tock, y'all" Straight fire
COULDNT SAY IT ANY BETTER MYSELF!!! THE MEMORIES OF THE SUMMER OF 1992 ARE STILL IMPRINTED IN MY MIND FOREVER!!!!
This is the sound of generation X
Rest in peace MCA you f****** legend
You're right. I'm a "young millennial" - I bridge the gap between Millennials and Gen Z (I understand both, but am not really a part of either).
I graduated from HS right when MCA died. Sucks. Really got into the Beastie Boys in 2013. However, by then, MCA was gone and they had broken up.
That shot of Mike D with the king behind him is classic.
RIP Yauch. Loved that dude. Love all those guys. Genuine people.

To have been 20 years old when this came out, and already a fan since the beginning in my early teens, I feel truly blessed to have lived during their era, and to have just existed at the same time to experience them too. Cool stuff! The Beastie Boys were their own thing, a blend of punk with hip-hop and rap and rock and the sampling and old school MC style, just super grateful to be here now!
me too
This was the first song I put on after I found out that Yauch had passed. I was so mad and sad and overwhelmed. Much love to Beastie Boys, and you, if you're reading this. RIP MCA all day
2022, still timeless, beasties, ? Wer u new learners at? Wont no if rap hit ya,
I love those drums
Yes.
BE TRUE TO YOURSELF, AND YOU WILL NEVER FALL.
That snare is simply amazing
Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head are 2 amazing albums
"Mowing down MC's like I'm mowin a lawn....." (Rip MCA)
This is most definitely one of their best tracks, their interplay and lyrics have always been astounding, here they proven that and their inventiveness once again.
MCA hasn't fallen guys. He stayed true to himself. He wont be forgotten. BIP adam
I had the honor of watching them on numerous occasions. So musically talented, played their own instruments. Last time I saw them was at Langorado Fest at the Miccosukkee Reservation in the middle of nowhere, the fucking everglades. They torn it down boy, they played so many jams from Pauls Boutique, I lost my damm mind. Sickest BBoys show I was ever at. I actually had tickets to see them after that again but the tour was canceled bc Mike D for obvious reason now, couldnt make it. Rest In peace Mike D. All I can tell is that I remember rolling into Jr high with my friends older sister in the cutlass with fucking Brass Monkey jamming out the car. Good times man. I miss those days of my youth.
e quem não sente ?
Mike d is totally fine just old, but mca could be doing better
Fuck ya man 🤘🤘🤘 Miss those days as well
I was there too! They killed it. Blew my mind
@@bryanmartini6467 uh none of them are old you are old
The bass is stupid sick in this entire track...get a good pair of headphones and that LOOOOOOOOOOOOOW end will shake your appendix.
This was ... is .... and will ALWAYS be Awesome!! It brings back smells, feels, looks, and loves straight to my brain. It pours over me like a waterfall of wonderful memories that become so vivid, I'm really transcended to those exact times and places. This kind of DOPE is as close to a time machine as I'll ever see in my lifetime, and I'm super cool with that. I can only hope my children have just one single song in their lifetime that allows them to feel this. People have misused "Amazing" so often, but this is one of those times where it is completely appropriate. Thank you Beasties, without you, beautiful and rare things like this wouldn't have happened in my lifetime. How could one simple man like me ever repay that? Absolutely phenomenal!!
Very well said!
I feel blessed to be part of the generation who grew up with the Beastie Boys. MCA... may you rest like you lived, in peace.
Man so messed up, it seemed like they could or rocked shit another 20 years. Fuck cancer man. RIP MCA. Also to my Aunt Sue, Aunt T, Aunt Pat, and my Grandmom and everyone old, young, and in between taken by cancer.

These guys have to be the coolest people on TH-cam.
The coolest people before TH-cam.
They're the coolest people to ever live.

My favorite Beastie Boys Song. Be true to yourself and you will never fall.

This soundtrack has been in my head for 25 years, and I"m not complaining.
I miss the importance of their music in these crazy times. They helped me guide myself through this world since I was 15. Gratitude. 🙏
MCA’s voice destroys any voice of any other singer EVER.

Such a sexy, edgy voice.
Coolest voice ever
If only MCA had Eminem lyrics. I dislike Ems voice, but lyrics are 👽
@@radrcer cringe .. eminem is for 12 year olds
Whenever I see Adrock from this era it reminds me I really gotta step my knitwear game up
The vibe within them is just insane! Nobody else can handle the rope they have.
We all gotta return to b-boys now and again for what are now classic art videos (heralded by musicians from all genres.)
The Beasties are easily up there with NWA and Wu-Tang in terms of timeless classics. So, so far ahead of their time. And to anyone wondering just how switched on they were, listen to eminem and then listen to Beasties....he took so much of his flow switches and hidden bars from these guys. And that's not even mentioning just how insanely good the DJs were back then. This was the golden age, don't let it die.
The way Adam points at Adam at 0:30
Rest in Peace MCA ... Gone but never forgotten.
My fave b-boys jam of all. Fun but ominous.

2024 and it still sounds good as the day it came out!!
Im still in love with Ad-Rock ❤😅♡☆
This was only one of five songs I knew from them, but I heard this song at least 100 times. I feel really bad because two days ago, two days after he died, I heard this song and skipped it because I heard it so many times. I can't believe I didn't know he died until yesterday. I wished I never knew he died. Wow I hope they're all doing all right.
I know I'm a little behind but I still think it needs to be said: RIP Adam Yauch. Love their music and I hope it's always the best out there.
The g.o.a.t.,..P.E. D.M.C. and KRS 1.... the seeds which grew ny hip hop and I'm grateful
