Well done! Nice to see the budget japanese bikes getting some love. I bought my father Tim (he even looks like this guy) a cheap ttr250 3 years ago for Father's Day, trying to get him back on the trails with me and reinvigorate his love for two wheels again. It was the best money I've ever spent, he loves it, and now we spend more time than ever together; riding. Keep up the great work Barry, best channel on TH-cam!
Great bikes, I put 25,000+ miles on mine and the valves never budged. Never any mechanical issues, at all really. I don't know another single 250cc bike that's built as tough with fewer gremlins. Great little mountain goat of a bike, it needed a few more HP to lug around its weight, but it always got me through the trails and up whatever I was climbing. Shame they weren't more popular...getting plastics and other bits for it proved difficult.
I have a TTR-230 and its actually great. I used to hate that it felt like a small tractor but in really rough trails its unstoppable. The thing will never stall and requires no maintenance. Its honestly perfect at what its meant to do, which is be a reliable cheap trail bike. People try to take YZ450's in a hardcore trail and they get destroyed by everyone who isn't spending all their time kicking the bike to start due to a narrow power band.
look for a dt230 its the 2 stroke version of the ttr and is basically the cheap old version of the modern 2 stroke cross trainer. And who doesnt love the ting and feel of the 2 smokeers.
ttr-230 is awesome bike except on big loose sandy hill climbs that was the first time I really needed more power. Great bike to have if you have a girlfriend or friends who come riding sometimes. Low seat height for us shorties also makes it awesome in the winter to throw studs in your tires and ride all year. Cheap bike to buy used and sell used and probably come out even if you want to get into riding.
He was ripping pretty good on that thing! might only be 20hp but my friends 32hp WR250 just needed its ludicrously expensive 5 titanium valves replaced, I bet a TTR will last 50,000km instead of 5,000km before it needs valves, if ever
I bought one this year, an 04. I'm learning to ride on this, and It's my first bike. I know she's nothing compared to others, but it's mine. I've re-jetted the carb, updated maintenance items, and it's paid me back with 10 hours (so far) of reliability. I'm not embarassed by it.
I have a xt250 and i know its not the same as a TTR250 but its the only street legal bike of its kind you can buy now. Let me tell you my buddies who rides ktm 501 and 300 enduros always always ask if they can ride my bike 😂. The handling and the way it deliver power is perfect for trail and enduro riding, you really dont need anymore power than that tbh.
I lowered the seat height and suspension on mine (I'm ground clearance challenged) and like its performance with DOT knobbies for street use here in the mountains. It runs great all the way to 13,000 feet elevation, though it could stand a smaller countershaft sprocket for those extreme rocky sections of trail around here.
Alas Baz, done it now you have. A can of worms opened it is. Standard set now by you requires testing of DRZ400 and 250 in comparison to determine strength of sticker upgrade year by year. Does TTR250 get more bank for bung with better sticker than Suzuki?
These 4 stroke bikes are the reliable ones we rode in the 80s. Back in the day you couldn't kill a XR or XT or a TT. Best part is these bikes are funn as heck. Goon it all day and just put gas in it. 50 million km,s between rebuilds is nice too. Makes me want to buy a old xr400 for funn

Actually the bike seems to be pretty good. For sure it's not an extreme enduro bike, but for some light enduro stuff, and trail riding i think it is a good choice. Anyway it was a great video like!
a bit of revalving i think, connor. interestingly though, the forks are highly regarded by many and i heard about a very fast guy who even put TTR forks on his YZs for racing.
yz's and wr's having a lent back fork rake so putting ttr forks brings that steering angle in steeper making it more responsive in the tight stuff, but twitchy on the sand and at speed.

I'm just a casual trail rider, but finished 15th out of 35 riders in the last Hare Scramble on my TTR... beat quite a few bigger nicer bikes. Just a fun and comfortable ride, NOT for the mx track though, lol.

I've started teaching her on my yz125 and the issue there is as its a great bike it just demands an aggressiveness that I doubt she'd want to put into it. So maybe a used 200 2t wouldn't be a bad idea? I've never rode one so if anyone has any comments on that I'd appreciate the input.
Backyard Boosters - I think your wife would do fine on a TTR. They're really plush on the suspension, electric start, and tame on the power but still plenty for a moderate rider to have plenty of fun. This video is amazing 🤣. Trading in my 15 ktm 300 on one on Monday lol /s. Seriously though you're hilarious and I'm going to go for the paid content this week because of this.
Nope, unless you want to trim it down and have it look like shit…. what I did was buy the OEM Looking TTR graphics and then I added a FASTHOUSE sticker on the shroud which actually sits perfectly symmetrical on top of the white/blue graphics…it looked like it was meant to be there….I also added some DBK stickers in small strategic spots because i like their stuff….And a custom Fasthouse front number plate with my name on it…Looks like a fasthouse kit…but its not lol
I've got 3 xt350s n 2 xt250s and xr350 all old school n they are fucking awesome..paired with a set of nads of steel..I'm 60+ and still muscle them about no problem ..also have 2012 ktm sxf 250 husky 410 etc.ktm300exc n more ...anyone want a go for a ride???
not sure gilles but i have heard the WR250R is so heavy that other bikes tend to orbit around it... and some have even collapsed in on themselves to form black holes.
Seat like sofa suspension like a blow up doll but a very capable bike. The thing with Yamaha is they just seem to be stuck in the 80s and don't innovate there bikes any more, they could be so much more shame really
agreed, most of their bikes are very good solid platforms but they just don't bother dragging them into the 21st century. :( that was the main theme in our YZ250X non-review: th-cam.com/video/h4Gtt4FZtqQ/w-d-xo.html

Haha...that was good. Love the TTR.
Haha, not sure I would like to feature in one of your videos though....
Now what about the ttr225 mine is a beast when trailing
I see that Yamaha sells a ttr230. Is that still pretty much the same bike with a slightly smaller engine?
I don't know, we know very little about the dual sport bikes.
haha, very funny video! Made me laugh. Although I absolutely loved my ttr250 back in the day
This video is amazing 🤣. Trading in my 15 ktm 300 on one on Monday lol /s. Seriously though you're hilarious and I'm going to go for the paid content this week because of this.
yes, keep the kato for at least a few years and train hard in preparation for the TTR one day.... :)
Can I fit a TTR230 graphics kit on the 250? There are no kits that I like that are available. Seems to be like 2.
Kind of like me on my xt250 lol. No beta for me now going TTR! Lol
Buenas noches mí hermano querido. Me gusta esas motos Yamaha trr 250.también tengo una saludos desde Venezuela catuaro
SOLD.
I was 12 when I rode one and it has heaps of powerr
I own this bike as agift from my dad, its incredible !!!!
Worth keeping Moses... most manufacturers simply don't make bikes like this anymore. The original "trail bike"!
Your Dad knows what quality looks like
Pretty sure this guy is related to the hill climb guy in the original "moto xxx" movie
I'll keep my 125 two stroke thank you.
Nice blue XR
Lol that Canadian accent is mint!
he is not canadian bro...he is an auzzie...
I own a ttr250. way to much power, so I bought a wr250f way easier to control if your gonads are normal sized.
amazing bike
Very nice video ;)
I've got 3 xt350s n 2 xt250s and xr350 all old school n they are fucking awesome..paired with a set of nads of steel..I'm 60+ and still muscle them about no problem ..also have 2012 ktm sxf 250 husky 410 etc.ktm300exc n more ...anyone want a go for a ride???

Awe fuck I'm putting the 300 up for sale, I need all that tech, I hate it when my left nut hits the positive terminal
only plus side is electrocuting the pubes straighten them....
mine just get singed but I do get a lighting rod :D
The main reason you don't see these on a track is because they are a TRAIL BIKE...
ohhhhh fr?
Bryson Stamper yeah
What are (mechanically) weak spots of this bike?
The rider
Is that volcanic ash you’re riding on?
no just regular tasmanian dirt
👍🏻👍🏻
that bike will outlast any other trail bike and that is a fact..i can only compare it to the honda xr 250...
Yep don't need armor when you got body hair. Body hair is armor!
that's the spirit lol.
You fell on the head before making this video? :D
Certains disent qu'il est tombé dans la marmite, tête la première, quand il était petit
After watching that TTR Tim guy I feel compelled to ride the shiet outta my DT125RE now 😄
How is this lethal weapon fighting against that other beast WR250R ?
not sure gilles but i have heard the WR250R is so heavy that other bikes tend to orbit around it... and some have even collapsed in on themselves to form black holes.
@@crosstrainingenduro someone told me that the return from that black hole appeared like a WR250F, that one that sent me 6 months out of riding 😂😅
What year is this ttr?
Does anyone know what's the possibility of fitting a ttr250 engine on a xt225?
Why?
How does it compare to a Suzuki DR 200?
No idea, we've never ridden a DR200.
all the bike anyone could ever need
I have a 2009 klx250s Barry. Whatever you do, don't attempt to ride and review this killer machine. 😊
i doubt i'll ever be ready for the lean mean green machine 😢
@@crosstrainingenduro it takes a special sort of Gumby mate.
I'm pretty sure he'd beat me on my Husky TE250 on that thing. Sadly this is true.
But how?!!
You are but mere Mortals!!!
we paid a fortune for a handkerchief soaked in the sweat of graham jarvis.... the rider took several deep sniffs before even approaching the TTR.
So the video was about a ttr325.
yes but don't tell anyone
Tradies are the strongest people on earth
And I thought you were being mean towards the poor little XR200.....
where is the XD icon?
Seat like sofa suspension like a blow up doll but a very capable bike. The thing with Yamaha is they just seem to be stuck in the 80s and don't innovate there bikes any more, they could be so much more shame really
agreed, most of their bikes are very good solid platforms but they just don't bother dragging them into the 21st century. :( that was the main theme in our YZ250X non-review: th-cam.com/video/h4Gtt4FZtqQ/w-d-xo.html
Wow I'm honoured to have a text from you I really am. I have watched all your videos and you have taught me so much I thank you for that 👍. Yes and a good piss take to 😆 my mate had one and I had a go on it so know the bike well. Wicked videos keep them coming from a Welsh man in the U.K. 😜
i think this is going to be graeme jarvises next bike first thing he would do would be go up mt everest
wtf did I just watch? you owe me data mate!!!
absolutely owen... please refer to our double your money back refund guarantee
CROSS TRAINING ENDURO SKILLS. lol. Do we have to fill out paper work?
