All of the Pearl Harbor ships that sank are so sad these ships seem like they went down like the ward in a kamakazi and Monaghan in a typhoon. Revenge? Coincidence? Conspiracy? Probably not just a coincidence most likely 😂

This was probably my favorite episode so far! It was just incredible to see both air strikes and the epic surface engagement, your own and the enemy's retaliatory strike. It really feels like things are spicing up in the theatre, and the loss of 2 carriers will be a devastating blow to the japanese war effort. I wonder, if you should continue to push the initiative, and strike at some of their main bases in the region, (perhaps even a raid on Rabaul? although that might be stretching it...) maybe use this time to consolidate your position in the solomon islands and capture Guadalcanal once and for all. Anyway, this is one of my favourite series on youtube, So keep up the great work!
If you try tô bombard raubaul, your bombardment fleet will be torn apart by the many airfields in the Islands(even a night Raid is rought cause in the Morning you Will still in range of heavy bombers, and unfortunaly, rabaul cannot be taken by imvasion

Air combat is one aspect I really wish they improved on in this game. Some improvements to AI, like maneuvering to avoid mid-air collisions. Also at least some type of ability to choose combat tactics. Problem here was a bunch of P-38 trying to low altitude turn-fight a bunch of Zeros. I think they would have taken similar losses doing that in real life. It would be nice if you could tell the P-38 to energy fight, dive in doing quick passes, then using their superior speed to fly away putting distance between them and the enemy, before climbing and looping back to do diving attacks again. It seems like something that certainly could be added to the game if they wanted to. Even just a simple button you could press telling your aircraft to energy fight or turn fight that changed AI engagement behavior would be very nice.
@@crusader318 P-38s were extremely successful when the right tactics were used, almost unbeatable. They were fast, and using energy fighting tactics could slaughter Zeros. In the Pacific theater they were incredibly successful.
I heard that 3 Lightnings tried that stunt to protect a B-17 at the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. All 4 planes got shot down, even as other P-38s successfully defeated Zeros with their energy dive strategy and superior speed.

First off, the P-38 was very successful, so I'm not sure what you mean "weren't as successful as possible" The P-38 was well armed, not so well armored, and was one of the fastest military aircraft in the world when it was introduced. It was faster than anything the Germans or Japanese had. It had extraordinary performance, extraordinary climb rate, and its engines were so powerful it could easily fly long distances on only one, which was a great safety feature for long flights over ocean. The P-38 was one of the worlds most advanced and expensive aircraft at the time, comparable to something like the F-22. The P-38 absolutely did not "turn horribly" and was not at all "unmaneuverable" In general it would be safe to say it didn't turn as well as most single engine fighters, certainly the Japanese ones which were renown for being the best turn fighters in the world. I think we often forget just how good the A6M Zero was early on in the war, it was a really fantastic fighter. Also some very talented pilots operating outside of normal procedure claimed with flaps down and by having asymmetrical engine thrust the P-38 was actually capable of turns as well or even better than any single engine fighter. With American pilots claiming to have outmaneuvered Zeros with this tactic, throttling one engine down, and the opposite engine to 100% in a turn. In reality however America had many rookie pilots who could not perform such complex combat techniques however the plane itself was capable of it. At the end of the war the P-38 shot down nearly 6,000 enemy aircraft and produced many of Americas Aces. It was one of the most expensive, high tech and successful aircraft of WW2. Very underappreciated.

That alone should tell how successful the airframe was. The P-40 which was designed and accepted around the same time (approx. 3 months between each frames first flight) was discontinued in 1944, while the P-38 had orders cancelled at the end of hostillities.

All hands scrambled to action, but it was too late to get out of range. Already the big guns of the American battleship belched fire and smoke as her guns roared, eager to avenge her fallen sisters at Pearl Harbor._
Man those pre engagement air battles were pretty tense. The scene of those B17 pilots braving a sky full of flak and zeros for the slim chance to score a hit on that battleship was poetic. Glad to see the air war rear its head at long last. Excellent work Wolfpack, this series is like crack
That was the most exciting mission yet. Some wonderful cinematic scenes! I hope they can find ways to improve the AI in the game so that the player doesn't end up sinking 10 ships for every one that he loses, regardless of which side he plays. Visually speaking, this game is topnotch.
The episode had so many fantastic things in it. Both aerial assaults on the task force were awesome in different ways. And getting to see a battleship actually get to dish it out to the enemy was great.

Honestly, that was one of my favorite air assaults through this entire game. The bombers closing in while the P-38's did a massive dogfight with zero's to keep them safe. Top 3 experience by far
When a ship capsizes that fast, most of the crew goes with it. Maybe 10% survive. Sad to consider. Especially knowing 70+% of a ships crew is under 20 years old.
Your ship accuracy improved during the encounter. The visuals are fabulous! It seems as if one player should manage tactical battle, and another on navigation. Excellent performance! Admiral Wolfpack!
That surface battle sounds similar to the results I had. I engaged a Hiyo, Kongo, Big CA, Cl and 5 DD with Colorado, 2 New Orleans, Atlanta, and 3 DD. Sank all but one enemy DD for 3 of my DD.
That air strike was awesome. Probably my favorite moment of both WotS series so far. The dogfight was visually spectacular and the bomber attack (while probably a little too powerful) was so satisfying. We need more dogfights. So much fun to watch.

Man that taskforce gave em a beating they won't forget!!! I truly believe if it wasn't for your torpedo's early on causing all the enemy ships to go into crazy evasive maneuvers they might have been able to get more guns to bare on your ships...the Ward definitely is the saving grace for the taskforce...it ran a screening smokescreen the whole time it was getting pummeled (posthumous medal of honor at the very least) Such an intense fight! Keep em coming!!!!

That air strike is movie worthy for cinematic view watching the bombers on the deck appraoch target under flack while high above fighters duked it out.
21:43 USS San Diego is hit by a kamikaze. This is similar to what happened to her in my campaign, but the bomb it dropped hit her too. Sandy didn’t survive the attack, and died defending USS Enterprise and USS Saratoga.
@20:25... Many of the old 4 stacker DDs had been modified with better ASW weapons throughout the war; including Hedgehogs. When she was sunk in late '44, Ward did have them. Exactly when she got it, I don't know. Put your slow ships in the rear. Also, remember, the bigger the gun, the longer the range! Lead with Destroyers, and follow in order... Light Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers, and Battleships in the rear.
Definitely my favorite chapter in this series. You striked the enemy quite hard with air attacks, suffered heavily, especially to air-to-air combat, they struck back with air attacks of their own equally quite hard as well, again, with heavy losses, then the climatic surface battle. Very action pack, the AI really stepped up their game in this battle, which I'll personally name "The battle of the Torres Islands". Many of the ships in TF 12 need R&R, especially Salt Lake City and Mississippi because I'm pretty sure the latter is missing the forward magazine. Evasive maneuvers and breaking the formations could've helped lighten the damage, but the actions of such leads to mixed results in my experience, but mostly positive. Another thing to note, the hits you called "minimal" aren't minimal because many of the compartments (above and below deck) with destroyed and blacked out, not sure if you know that or not.
I'm halfway through this video and before I finish it I just wanted to say something but first; spoiler alert I was really sad to see USS Hull go under, she's been through so many engagements so far and made it out. Gave me actual chills ;-;
I really think you should get a Bogue class escort carrier, it will have minimal striking power, but it's Fighters will be able to keep your ships safe, and you could escort it with to Atlantas for surface engagements (while your boge runs away) anti-submarine Warfare Duty
Just my recommendation get the Navada class battleship and get the Nevada because it survive too nukes ‘s so probably do good for the series just an idea though

I think the correct word for what Wolfpack was when he saw how close he was to the enemy carrier group would be "flabbergasted"
Man that taskforce gave em a beating they won't forget!!! I truly believe if it wasn't for your torpedo's early on causing all the enemy ships to go into crazy evasive maneuvers they might have been able to get more guns to bare on your ships...the Ward definitely is the saving grace for the taskforce...it ran a screening smokescreen the whole time it was getting pummeled (posthumous medal of honor at the very least)

This Episode had both aerial fighter/bomber engagements for the first time, this was amazing.
21:43 USS San Diego is hit by a kamikaze. This is similar to what happened to her in my campaign, but the bomb it dropped hit her too. Sandy didn’t survive the attack, and died defending USS Enterprise and USS Saratoga.

Many of the old 4 stacker DDs had been modified with better ASW weapons throughout the war; including Hedgehogs. When she was sunk in late '44, Ward did have them. Exactly when she got it, I don't know.
Put your slow ships in the rear. Also, remember, the bigger the gun, the longer the range! Lead with Destroyers, and follow in order... Light Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers, and Battleships in the rear.

Definitely my favorite chapter in this series. You striked the enemy quite hard with air attacks, suffered heavily, especially to air-to-air combat, they struck back with air attacks of their own equally quite hard as well, again, with heavy losses, then the climatic surface battle. Very action pack, the AI really stepped up their game in this battle, which I'll personally name "The battle of the Torres Islands". Many of the ships in TF 12 need R&R, especially Salt Lake City and Mississippi because I'm pretty sure the latter is missing the forward magazine.
Evasive maneuvers and breaking the formations could've helped lighten the damage, but the actions of such leads to mixed results in my experience, but mostly positive. Another thing to note, the hits you called "minimal" aren't minimal because many of the compartments (above and below deck) with destroyed and blacked out, not sure if you know that or not.

I was really sad to see USS Hull go under, she's been through so many engagements so far and made it out. Gave me actual chills ;-;
I really think you should get a Bogue class escort carrier, it will have minimal striking power, but it's Fighters will be able to keep your ships safe, and you could escort it with to Atlantas for surface engagements (while your boge runs away) anti-submarine Warfare Duty

Just my recommendation get the Navada class battleship and get the Nevada because it survive too nukes ‘s so probably do good for the series just an idea though
