What is also quite important here are the tax regulation for company cars in Germany, since this is where the big business happens. To only pay 0.5% tax on list price per month, the vehicle need to have a minimum electrical range of 60km. If not, you have to pay 1% tax on the list price and this makes a huge difference...
The G90 M5 is the first M5 in history to be slower than it's predecessor. If this new M5 lost about 1,000 lbs or was the same weight as the F90 M5 CS, it would be the greatest M5 of all time...
The heavy hybrid system works in an suv but does not work in a sports sedan. Bob lutz even said this when talking about the gm brand hybrids however this takes it to an unprecedented level of weight gain 😂
I love this agressive looks design,it is what i expect from the m5.💯🔥💪 however its crazy to say but 717hp its just simply not enough for its weight, 2.5t wtf?
@DennisDinges ye, you right. that is why the f90 withouth electric torgue was accelerate to 100km in 3.4sec and the new g90 is 3.5sec. The new gen. is slower coz of the weight. Its not BMW's fault but those Marxist idiots who making Legislation in Brussel and killing EU's car industry.🤢🤢
Could always get the M540i version if you want the AWD, lose the weight, have most of the looks and live with a straight six. Perhaps it’s the best 5 series of this current generation.
this is about 1000 lbs more than the e39 M5. that is a crazy statistic. hey i respect the engineering prowess and styling. its not something i would own, the mind boggles at the reliability or lack their of.
You better know how to handle this, it's a lot of mass if it lets go. Taking the gear lever out of the equation is not what I expect in this type of car.
I don’t care about the rest of the stuff… my question is why make it slower than the previous generation? …. U could have gotten 700hp from that v8 and get another 250hp from electric motors.. total output 950hp .. that’s what I was kinda expecting 😊….. like how did the Sf90 achieve its output
You will not daily commute an SF90 with your family on board lol. Its a completely different engineering project with very different engineering requirements. They don't want it to just make it a miserable tenth of a second faster from 0-60 compared to the predecessor. There are a lot more things to a car than that. This is not the Tesla (0 to 60) world lol
Chinese companies love these video's. The learn and are making notes. On their turn Chinese car manufactureres do not share anything about the tech and mechanisms they applied in their cars.
plug-in hybrid is such a lazy implementation. high performance cars like this need to be either strictly ICE or strictly EV, no in-between because plug-in hybrid's battery pack is so tiny that you'll run out of electric "juice" in a single 20-mile trip (discount that by half if any uphill climb is involved), then once the battery is depleted, you're essentially stuck with that dead weight until the next charge session.
1. A lot less ppl would buy an EV M5.. 2. The problem with non-electrified cars is that they will be banned in certain cities soon. So the ppl that would buy an M5 and live near or in these cities would step away from paying 110k on a super saloon that is not allowed to drive in those areas. Even the mighty bugatti mentioned this as a reason for electrification of their new Tourbullion. So if you want to point fingers point at the ones that make those rules.
@@NotMyAccount sales ban on ICE vehicles won't start until 2035, that's 11 years from now -- long after the end of this G90 generation's entire product cycle, so that is not a valid reason in my opinion, at least not immediately. Emission standards in EU, however, is probably the legit reason behind the hybrid implementation.
@@NotMyAccount i doubt that will ever happen (or could effectively be enforced) since the current source of funding for local infrastructures (roads/highways/bridges/maintenance, etc) comes from the gas tax, which relies on ICE vehicles.
Was the big front grill to “irritate” customers too last year. So you decided to increase the weight as a lci (life cycle impulse update) to “irritate” customers?😂
It is too heavy. And is mostly due to batteries. The electric and hybrid cars are all very heavy and do not understand why the need of so much horse powers? Especially in fully electric cars. Useless.
In this colour, it looks awesome and gangster. I love it
///M5 the ORIGINAL 4 Door Gangster!
I think Porsche did the better hybridization approach with non plugin hybrid and just 50kg added.
Thats a good point, I was thinking about that as well. Building a much heavier sports car doesnt make any sense.
Porsche - always better

..as it concerns the 911(sports car)! the Panamera is the same as the m5 logic :)
I’ll wait for the competition with 850hp. Which makes a lot more sense because at that point the weight doesn’t matter.

Slower on paper, you still need real drag race comparison to verify it.
Useless remark. It's about the feeling in the car. Plus you can drive this thing very economical
Dynamically? Does it hold up with 400KG increase in weight? Not sure if I’m convinced.

I love BMW M cars.
I'm curious how the handling will be compared to the f90 m5 comp and CS

A piece of art 👌
👀
Beautiful car.
How much would it cost to remove the hybrid system

You forget the extra torque that the electric motor delivers. Its huge

Will there be a CS version coming?
Eventually. Not soon though

There is no M540i though
It needs 300 more horsepower for that boat on wheels
Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but the G90 should be the most powerful BMW of all time right? I think the XM was number 1 until this release
BMW M are very thoughtful and extremely professional!

Lower center of gravity wider axle base. You need to listen

Because they are leaving room for the competition version will surely have over 850hp.

Gone are the days of beautiful BMW’s. That thing looks bloated and the grill with that gaudy glow. Looks like old Acura TL generation with wrx rear.

I'll take 2 of em 👍👍
So lemme get this straight: you gotta plug it in and fill it with fuel?

But that's the only way they score well for emissions

never on the road, just rendered videos, i guess you can't really drive this without a truck license.
this guys probably gonna get fired. heaviest thing on the road.
I didn't know jigsaw was an auto engineer.
Civil engineer?
A "little bit" heavier almost 500kg.....
The XM was a failure 😣 😢for BMW M NOW THIS NEW G90 M5 WILL BE NO DIFFERENT 😢HISTORY WILL PROUVE Me right
Mercedes messed up with that C63 amg.
I'm not saying it doesn't look good, but a curb weight equal to three MK1 Golf GTI's is just ridiculous.
It is heavy, no doubt about it
The m truck .
Lots of ugly angles of this car. That side profile is criminal
2.5 ton m5 vs 4-cyl c63
lol

Its a big step backward!
It doesn't work for me. I just want my V8 only. At least it's not a 4 cylinder. I'm keeping all my old cars now.
Good luck
I be like the look of the car 🚗, but the weight & slower than previous M5 isn’t good . Porsche added 50kg not 500kg 😳
Egg shape no more.. nice design.
Way to ruin a legend
As always im better than you,
I ordered one. I'll be the first one on Long Island New York to own one.
BMW engineering is so mid it’s crazy hahahahhahah
