    Thank you. A mechanic said it was my pump that was bad he wanted to charge me 450 to change my pump. Me knowing it was only an "O" ring cause I saw the small leak on the low pressure line. I purchase a universal O ring set of 13 pcs and a bottle of fluid $6 + $9 total spend $15 and 10 min to do. Thanks to your video I saved $435.

    I'm so glad a came across this video! I've been dealing with this issue for a year and I thought it was just the pump because our mechanic just said drive it. We tried replacing both orings but the one with 2 bolts was too small and fluid starting spewing out so we put the original one back on. But this fixed the noise I was having on my 05. Thanks man!

    This us exactly what my 1995 Honda Accord EX does and it's leaking on top where high pressure line connects to the power steering pump. There was are in the pump reservoir. So, I'm going to try replacing both to see if it resolves the problem.

    I don’t know too much about cars, but I have a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L and my car sounds like this. Just started recently. But it’s loud and annoying lol. I keep hearing about an O ring. Just don’t know if I need to do it or my mechanic lol

    I get this noise after driving and for 20mins, not on cold starts, after driving the fluid becomes aerated in reservoir, I'm hopping it's the o rings..

    • @tongo117

      Don't need to drain.. Only a small amount of fluid leaks out while you are changing the o-rings..

    Does it matter what color the o rings are? Just seen some universal ones at autozone and they All comes in black since they dont sell the original honda ones.

    • @tongo117
      @tongo117  ปีที่แล้ว

      Color shouldn't matter as long as the new o rings are the same size..

    • @migelgutierrez9927
      @migelgutierrez9927 ปีที่แล้ว

      I purchased the autozone universal set worked great, but the ring should be a SLIGHT smaller than the old one in the line so it fit snug on the connector.

    other than noise, air leaking in can damage the car if not fixed?

      I would think long term it could damage the power steering pump..

    Does air have to be bled out of the system after replacing o-rings? Does air get pulled into the system when it is disconnected and opened up?

    • @tongo117
      @tongo117  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some air likely gets in but that air should work its way out through the fluid reservoir.. aka a few bubbles in the reservoir..

    • @joerevere937
      @joerevere937 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tongo117: Do you have to let the car run with the lid off the reservoir while turning the wheels side to side to allow the air to escape? Or does the air escape the system somehow while operating normally?

    • @tongo117
      @tongo117  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've changed out o-rings in this car twice now and neither time bled the system.. If a small amount of air did get in it must have worked its way out through normal driving.. Now, should I have bled the system each time? Probably yes.. Lots of videos showing how to do that which does involve turning the wheel completely left/right with the front wheels off the ground..

      Jack up the front end and turn the wheel lock to lock with it off a few times then do it running. Only read up on it yesterday so may not be the best way but its something.

      I've replaced my o-rings twice in the 18 years I've owned this car and had no leak either time.. But, I imagine a leak is possible.. What can also happen is that so much air leaks into the pump that the fluid in the reservoir bubbles up and overflows..
