I was struggling so much with putting my own design on a mockup. Watched this video and I figured out how to do it within 5 minutes. A thousand thanks for this content! ☺
i'm lost at the 'save the .psb' and it's supposed to automatically update the design of the mock up? it doesn't happen for me. So i still don't understand how to actually replace the design in the mock up with my own
@@GDHT I solved the issue actually. At first I was 'saving under', and that's why it wasn't working. But the I tried to simply to simply 'save', and it worked ! Thank you for replying
Hello, there are other mock ups that has this cube/3d instead of smart object thumbnail on the side. I don't know how to explain, but the one on the part where we double click and save. It's not a smart object. Please help.
Not sure if you figured it out, but you have to use a clipping mask. Click on the 3d layer, then add a new layer. Paste your graphic within the new layer, then right-click on that layer and click create clipping mask. It took me forever to figure out so I just wanted to help.
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. Do you know if it is possible to for example, resize the dimensions of the tin? So if I wanted it to be taller? Thank you
You're welcome - I'm glad it was helpful! You could technically stretch it, but I don't think that would look nice. You would just need to copy and paste parts of the tin to make it look like it's taller...it's a bit complicated if there's a pattern, etc, though.
Can you please teach us how to create our own mockup templates using the 3D layers ? I have purchased some from creative market. Basically they provide you a psd file, with 3d layers that you can apply your designs on. I have been wondering how to make a template like that and haven't been able to find a tutorial on youtube!!
hello Anne, great tut! except there's one thing i need to clarify: does the image have to be copied from AI directly or can it be, for example, a jpeg on the desktop of your computer?
Hi Anne, i would like to know how do you create a smart object that can be linked to multiple layer? Like i have 10 tins and a smart object that contains the artwork and changing a “master” smart object like what you do in the tutorial will also change those 10 tins. Thanks beforehand
Yes - if you use copies of the same smart object (option or alt dragging your smart object layer) to put them on the different tins, updating one will update all. They have to all be in the same file, though. A good way to do this is to use Artboards in Photoshop, so they will sort of have their own 'document' within the file.

QUICK and to the point!!!
Thank you!!
When I double click on smart object it won't be open layer for psb, why ? Is there any icon able/disable to activate I should click?
It sounds like a glitch - maybe try restarting the program.

Can you help me with this on an iPad. I have no clue
I'm not very familiar with Photoshop for ipad unfortunately...I'm not sure it has that capability.
is it okay to use a design that is not from adobe illustrator? i just need to put my made designs on the mockup.
Yes, you can create a Photoshop smart object too!
thanks for the tutorial, i loved it
You're welcome 😊
Will this work on the free version of Photoshop?
I wasn't aware that there's a free version of Photoshop! Do you mean Elements?
how did you delete the placeholder?
You can select that layer in the Layers panel and delete it.
Awesome! Thanks for the great tutorial.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm designing in Corel x7, do video instructions still apply?
No, it would be different in that program. I used Corel about 15 years ago, but not lately. I remember it being quite a bit different.
Awesome. I'm designing a beer label for a friend and would love to show the design on a can. Thanks Anne.
Awesome! I think beer labels are probably the most fun thing to design. Good luck!

It's a bit of a longer process - I might make a class on how to do that (but it'll most likely be on Skillshare).

hello Anne, great tut! except there's one thing i need to clarify: does the image have to be copied from AI directly or can it be, for example, a jpeg on the desktop of your computer?
I think you could do a JPEG - but it might have a white background you'd need to remove.
