I am 22 but was planning to move in with my ex partner at 20 and I am so happy I did not. My mom told me to hold on for at least 4 years to observe and listen to the person he was and luckily I saw true colors around our 2nd year dating and I found myself collecting red flags so by almost 4 years I decided to end the relationship because it became toxic is so many ways and I felt like he was not genuinely happy or supportive of me pursing higher education.
You made the right decision! Your partner should be supportive of your future endeavors, especially your pursuit for higher education. Partners that aren't supportive of upwards mobility is a huge red flag.

I finally got the courage to leave a very toxic and narcissistic relationship after 4 years. My mental health was on its last string. The night before I left I remember wishing that I had a gun just so I could end it and begging god to just not let me wake up the next morning. I have my 3 kids but felt like they were better off without me. Then the next morning he continued his blaming games for anything and everything and I was just done. Watching Jeannie go through her divorce and her self care really helped me through my issues. Watching her on the real made me want to get up in the morning and take care of my appearance and watching hello hunnay helped me enroll into therapy. I have no need or want to rush into a relationship and just focus on myself and my kids. I'm not sure what my ex did that made me snap into reality but I'm glad he did. #NoRegrets

My God I’m trying really hard to leave this lying, blaming game and narcosis of a man alone. Ive been dealing with him for 2 years and he’s relentless though! He’s determined to not let go. We was best friends for over 15 years so o thought. This man n te my past and be began to take me through the same things as before. As this point I really don’t understand how I can still have feelings for a man who is verbally abusive. I have reached out for therapy. I’m just trying to move on from this man. I will forever regret my decision getting involved with him. I’m so tired mentally, I just want peace!!!

I know there are different ways people go in relationships but I think it's very important to move in together before you marry the person. This way you can see how they really are on a daily basis. My perspective probably comes from what my mom always told me, which is you really get to know someone when you live with them and according to her you should live together at least a year before marrying them. That's what she did with her ex and it turned out he wasn't the person she knew him as

I wish I could’ve seen this post on time. I have always wanted someone strong and motivational and secure like y’all to answer this question I have...I have never had a relationship, never had someone be interested in having a relationship with me and of course, as much as I wish it didn’t, it has affected my self-esteem throughout the years. I grew up with a gorgeous best friend, the one all the boys had a crush on, always getting attention, gifts, etc. I never experienced that, and now at almost 27, I still haven’t. I can’t help but wonder what is wrong with me? I know that’s such a damaging question and I know my worth shouldn’t have anything to do with anyone else’s opinion of me, but most people don’t know what it feels like to never get approached, never get looked at, never be flirted with, never have even touched a guy! So I have to wonder sometimes if it is me 😔 I love you Jeannie, I’ve always admired your confidence and openness, so I thought I’d give it a shot and express this to you and Mama Mai who I also love!
