    Very good tutorial. Easy to understand and to listen to. Thank you. I’ve had this die and haven’t used yet.

    I'm so glad I watched this. I learned a lot, but one of the things that really surprised me was that I had no idea that little place at the end of the die was for another die. Now I can't wait to see what I have that fits. Also, I like that you videoed this in landscape mode. It shows things so much better than the narrow vertical option. I appreciate all of your videos!

      Oh so glad you watched then :-) It will hold a lot of the Movers and Shapers in the tray- a fun touch on the flap!

    I'm enjoying this die. As a note, Sizzix has a 4.5 inch square die (quilting) which is perfect for covering the mini composition books. Another way to use a die to make the process fast. I'm working on gratitude journals for our Bible group.

    Hi, I just purchased the switch machine, I believe it has a 9" opening. What size is cutting pad, and extended plates. I'm having trouble finding what I need on the site. Also do I need a crease pad for the switch. Thanks

    • @EileenHull
      @EileenHull  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kim yes the switch has a 9 inch opening the cutting pad and extended plates come with the machine but you can also use the ones that you have from your big shot or other Sizzix machines to cut with on the switch. It does have deep pressure so you may need a crease pad for the switch. You can use one that you have and just cover the scorelines. Also here are some tips: Why are the score lines on my ScoreBoards journal die cutting through?
      There are a few reasons why this could be happening…
      1. ScoreBoards dies are designed to cut and score materials up to 1/16” of an inch. Make sure to check the thickness of your material is within the specifications for the die.
      2. The Big Shot Plus and the Foldaway have a deeper pressure than the Big Shot. This can be a plus if you are embossing because you get a nice deep impression, but could cut a little deeper or even through score lines.
      If/when this happens, don’t panic! :-) First of all, I recommend using a piece of scrap to test the die with first before cutting into your “good” material. Lay the scrap over the score lines and run through the machine. If the scorelines have cut through, try using a crease pad instead of instead of your top acrylic cutting pad. The crease pad gives a gentler cut and may do the trick. Still happening? Try taking a piece of cereal box, leather or thick felt and place right on top of the score blades, then layer on your material and cutting pads. The extra layer of material in between the cutting blades and your “good” material acts as a buffer and absorbs the cut!

    I have a big shot and the big shot pro. The Big Shot pro recommends using one extended crease pad and one extended clear plate for score boards. Is that your sandwich when you use the BS Pro?

    • @EileenHull
      @EileenHull  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't use my Pro that much but when I do yes, that is the sandwich that I use...

    The die cut through my leather near the end flap part...can you give me advice on how to prevent that?

    • @EileenHull
      @EileenHull  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vanessa- that happens sometimes as the leather is different thicknesses and the die is meant to cut and score specific depths. First I recommend you test the spine with a scrap before using your good stuff. When this happens, some people like to use the crease pad which provides a gentler cut. My workaround is to take a piece of thick felt, cardboard or leather and place it on the scoring lines between the cutting blade and material you are cutting. That way the scrap absorbs or buffers the cut and does not cut through your material. Let me know if that works! Also you might want to join the Eileen Hull Fan Club Facebook group for lots of other ideas. Let me know how it goes OK? Thanks and have fun!

    Do I need the mover and shaker accessory?

    • @EileenHull
      @EileenHull  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you could use a mover and shaper in the magnetic tray if you wanted but it is not necessary. If you don’t put a mover and shaped, the flap will cut solid.

    Hi, do you have the Sizzix Big Shot Pro? What are your thoughts about this model

    • @EileenHull
      @EileenHull  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have a Big Shot Pro- I like it because I can cut any Sizzix die on it. The only thing is it takes up a lot of space and is pretty heavy.

    can u do a tutorial on one with material please

  • @MB-in9eu

    FYI I just figured out and cut out the die using one directional patterned paper, making my own patterned paper for testing using flower stamps. I cut with the CLOSED end (the front end) of the die on the right. BOTH the inside and the outside designs must be adhered RIGHT side up on both sides of the cutting material, but placed on the die with the design UPSIDE DOWN. After running through the machine, using my left hand I slipped it under the paper on the RIGHT end of the die -WITHOUT turning over the paper. Holding the paper I turned the paper 180 degrees to the left - to the opposite end of the die. Pattern should now be RIGHT SIDE UP! FOLDED in the LEFT end for my front, and FOLDED in the RIGHT end for my flap. OR After cutting you could just flip it over toward you and the FRONT will be on the right end. Either way works. 😉 Hope this helps someone.
