Thanks for the video. While I have no interest in clearing my tail lights, its the only video I could find that showed how to remove them. Someone had hit my wife's car and had cracked the housing. That said, your comment at 5:21 "This one was a little tricky" is a huge understatement. Anyone with mid sized hands or larger is going to have a nightmare getting that nut off and then back on. The whole job took me 45 minutes, at least 40 of those were on that once single bolt. You need to get a 8 inch extension for the 10 mm and screw it in / out by hand.
For me lying on my back , not lifted , couldn’t get it . Didn’t have the 8” extension though . So close , got cramps ( I’m 70 ) but hands cramp up . Changed lens though to LED

Really interesting that you switched to 2010 taillights! I have a 2010 and have never been fond of the newer model taillights. I always thought they looked "older" even though they were newer. The clear light mods look great!
Thanks weekend warrior. I felt the clear headlights and tail lights had their moment in the early 2000's. That time has come and gone. If i had to do it again, i'd go with the more smokier red on the new 2020's sports trim. But nonetheless, the red ones i currently have do turn heads. I see other GX's drive next to me to stare because after they look at my tail lights, they expected to see a different front grille than my current one.
Appreciate the comment Dope, reason why i switched out to clear bottom housing is because i replaced my tail lights with the red sports trim ones as shown in my other video. Too much red didn’t look right. 😃
If these are sealed like the headlights are, you should be able to pop them in the oven for like 10 minutes at 250 to get the OEM adhesive melted enough to just separate the pieces cleanly instead of doing any cutting/sanding on the plastic. Resealing would be the same process, assemble together, hold with a clamp, melt in oven, and let cool while clamped.

@@edfairley8347 yes I’ve looked into this Ed. There are fairly intelligent engineers at Toyota that enables all their engines to surpass 300k miles and beyond if properly maintained. I’ve gone thru so many gimmicks in my lifetime to know that a$200 adapter is not going to matter by the time you sell your car and move onto another 300k + Lexus/Toyota. My opinion.
After removing the red filter, it is pretty shining. I wonder if it could cause problem during night when the super shine reflectors reflact the headlight from the car behind you. It'll be like two bright lights on your lower rear bumper.
Then people are also going to have remove their chrome bumpers, exhaust tips, emblems, license plate frames, trims, etc. My point is, the tiny chrome pieces behind the plastic lens doesn’t have the surface area and projected angularity to cause world destruction. It’s not shiny as you think. 😀
@@GXBOB Dude, I was not captious but for safty purpose. The shining chrome thing is designed to reflect as much light as possible to make the tiny bulb work the best, it's different from all the rest chrome trims. Believe it or not, there is some products sold in China work the same way to let the driver hang on the rear window to go againt any car using highbeam behind.

I don't know....it was a bit of an inconvenience but i can't say that my hands are small.

Double backup lights maybe a good idea. Easy to tap in, more light in the back, better visibility in night.
The reverse light I’m currently using is led with a projector lens. Super bright enough.

Not the same. The tail lights are not held in with glue.

I think it also depends on the exterior color of your truck too. Clear does look really nice on Black exterior.

By the way, i also removed the chrome housing on the inside. Only thing left is a black housing with minor chrome. (=
