Cool thing about the new TLR7x? You can run the light head from the rifle TLR-2RM on it. It just screws right on where the light head goes. Basically gives you TLR-1HL candela output with a little longer length, as the head output is 1k lumens with 20k candela. Obviously with reduced run time.
The video is a little misleading, people are purchasing the wrong product because of it. The TLR-7X does NOT come with the rechargeable battery unless you purchase the “USB” version, product number 69455. If you get the non-USB version, you’re only purchasing a light thats ‘compatible’ with the SL-B9 rechargeable battery.
Funny thing: I bought a TLR 7A from a Store online and they sent the TLR 7X… not sure if I over paid or under paid still looking at prices but I paid about 150 for it
The rechargable battery is a 3.7v battery, I believe. The tlr-7a is not rated for 3.7v, only the standard 3v cr123a. The rechargable battery could damage the electronics.
At approximately 7 minutes he says the only difference between the A and the X is the battery. From what I've read, the A is not designed for the rechargeable battery and could damage the electronics if one is used. No idea if that's actually true, just passing on what I've read.
Thanks for doing this video. Running a TRL-7A and wanted to see the difference. Didn’t want to have to buy more holsters for a light slightly different. May pick up some of those batteries and just swap them out occasionally. Although i don’t play with my gun light and haven’t replaced its battery in a long time
TLR-7A and 7X may have different electronics. If so performance and endurance may differ. You would need to do some more detailed and involved testing to be sure they are indeed the same.
I also got the first run of the tlr7 x and they didn’t come with a rechargeable just a regular battery and you have to buy the rechargeable separately.
Stream light said the new batteries will work in the old tlr 7a but the output isn't on par when you use it. Also I use surefire rechargeable batteries in my old tlr 7a but stream light doesn't recommend it and says it can damage the light. But i haven't had issues. That being said if i get any new tlr 7s no reason not to use the tlr 7as. Also apparently you can buy the rifle light lens and run it in the tlr X to get more output but holster fitment is gonna be a challenge.
And now the TLR 7 HLX which is better than all of then. I have no idea why they came out with the 7X - even with that rechargeable battery, it still has the same output as the 7A with a CR123.
Dude... your video is a life saver... I was just looking at alien gear holsters and was wondering what the differences were with the 7a series lights. Lol thanks man. You got a sub
Rechargeable Battery will damage the tlr-a electronics. Fully charged will damaged it . Constant surge of volts will over heat or damage it. Get 2 extra rechargeable batteries and save money not having to buy them constantly. It’s your money though.? I like to save.
Not sure if it is true when i was looking for surefire flashlights. The nock offs pop up and they had a warning saying the rechargeable 123 could start a fire in the lights not ment for them. Was on amzon.
TLR 7x is the same as the TLR 7A. So when you search holsters your looking for tlr7a. I feel like it has a little better overall support than the TLR 7 sub but it's close
Will the Tlr-7x fit on the p365x frame I have the x model and have been debating on a new light and looking between the tlr7sub or if it fits the tlr7x
Can you confirm if the TLR-7 Sub will fit on both a Glock 43x MOS (with the correct key supplied) AND a Ruger PC with standard forend and light rail under the barrel? I think the TLR-7 Sub will require the 1913 key for the Ruger PC, but there could be an issue with the sling swivel location too close to the light switches. I don't think the Sub comes with the various keys to interchange the light on other platforms, but the extra keys may be able to be purchased separately. Thanks
I'm not sure of anything... Just making the observations that I see. If you have other ideas please share... It's very likely the electronics are different
Looks like one of those holsters that have their own support belt for people that like to wear crappy clothes without a good belt. There is a system i think called the enigma. That lets people carry a gun in sweatpants and other clothing
@@OuterLimitless2 Thanks for responding back 👍! So the slide is the xl and the frame is a x macro? I have a stock xl and I want my slide to be flush with the frame…
BRILLIANT video on the X model. YOU were the ONLY one that FREAKING CLARIFIED everything FOR ME. Grateful
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Same here I really appreciate this video

Not 20,000 candela it's more like 10,0000
Good luck finding a holster for that
@@volbrenYT all you have to do is open the bottom of the holster already made for a TLR7. It’ll stick through it, but in a pinch it’ll work.
Tier one makes holsters for TLR 1 HL

Thanks for the breakdown. Wouldn’t hurt to pick up the 7X and keep a spare battery for when you want to charge.

That's what I've heard as well.

What is the useful battery life for each battery type? Ah rating? Wh rating? Voltage? Brightness? Cost? Number of recharges? Recharge time?
Thanks for doing this video. Running a TRL-7A and wanted to see the difference. Didn’t want to have to buy more holsters for a light slightly different.

i may be incorrect but the rechargeable battery does not run in the TLR-7A, only in the X model
Not sure if it's the case here. Most times, rechargeable lights use a different bulb so they don't burn out as easy.
Well done. Answered every question I had going into the video.
TLR-7A and 7X may have different electronics. If so performance and endurance may differ. You would need to do some more detailed and involved testing to be sure they are indeed the same.
Streamlight just added the capability of running a rechargeable battery. You can still run cr123 per usual in the x model
So what’s the difference between the Tlr-7 X Sub?
I also got the first run of the tlr7 x and they didn’t come with a rechargeable just a regular battery and you have to buy the rechargeable separately.
😆😆 Insane, With the new Sig Foxtrot 2R you get 2 rechargeable batteries in the box
The same thing happened to me, apparently you have to buy the light that says “tlr x usb” to get the battery.
When you buy the TLR7x you have to get the USB model comes with the cord and the rechargeable battery
Stream light said the new batteries will work in the old tlr 7a but the output isn't on par when you use it. Did they say how many linens it is in a 7a
@@Gpiforever1 they did not
I got a 7x from Amazon doesn’t say anything about being rechargable on the package and the battery is a normal 7a battery 🤷🏻♂️
Could be counterfeit packaging or equipment.
I've been using 3v rechargeable batteries in my 7sub and I've decided to go for it and move up to 3.7 full power rechargeable batteries in it
And now the TLR 7 HLX which is better than all of then. I have no idea why they came out with the 7X - even with that rechargeable battery, it still has the same output as the 7A with a CR123.

I recently ordered a sidecar from t rec arms for my macro with a sub, and it fits mint
X has 1000 lumens
A has 500 lumens.

Thanks for the explanation. Great job. I love that holsteryou showed. Is that a chest rig?
you failed to mention that the 7x hl is available as1000 lumens vs 500 for the other two
@@williamhicks-op3tm the HL-X didn't exist at the time so I didn't fail to mention anything. Thx

Who uses strobe? just curious because I never do and interested if it’s a feature people like
Nice video. I got the TLR-7x but it didn’t come with recharge battery. There are 2 versions of the x.
I feel like there's a slightly older version without the rechargeable battery...I agree with you. Thanks for watching!
Can you run a regular battery on the TLR7x? Which one easy to find holster? TLR7x or 7Sub?
TLR 7x is the same as the TLR 7A. So when you search holsters your looking for tlr7a. I feel like it has a little better overall support than the TLR 7 sub but it's close
I dunno about the regular battery... I'll have to test it
The tlr x uses regular batteries as well
My hellcat comp pro with tlr7 x doesnt fit my we the people holster but the 7sub does. Wish the x fit be nice to have more bat options for my edc

All extra keys are available and supplied for free by Streamlight support. They are very responsive...I suggest reaching out to them directly.
What is the purpose of the Sub vs the A? It seems like there’s no real world difference so why does it exist?
The sub is for smaller guns
My TLR 7X didn’t come with a rechargeable battery but I will be buying a rechargeable battery soon
Are you sure its the same electronics? Seems as though they may have changed the circuit to deal with the higher voltage.
I'm not sure of anything... Just making the observations that I see. If you have other ideas please share... It's very likely the electronics are different
My dude don't run alien gear other than that this video is amazing. Is that a cr 123?
