    The pinked edges are totally irritating 😠
    On the fall wreath the background seems a little too dark, the wreath part doesn’t stand out,imho.

    Good evening Pat, from Sydney Australia, I enjoyed a coffee wwhile you were chatting. My tip when organising and using a jelly roll is to use a horizontal style tie rack. Some have 10 to 12 each side, perfect fot a roll of 20 or 22 strips.

    I used a lint roller on the first jellyroll I ever bought. It pulled out thousands threads from the edge of the fabric and caused horrendous fraying! Tip 1.1 - only use a lint roller on jellyrolls with pinked edges. Not all jellyrolls have pinked edges 😩

    Thank you for the tips. I always wondered if the tip was part of the 2 1/2 strip when sewing my 1/4" seam. What is the name of the quilt pattern behind you? I love it. Have a great weekend. Your hair looks so cute!

    Odd JR, cut and sew as directed by pattern, consider it a mystery quilt. If it turns out pretty, it’s a win. Turns out ugly, cut into large squares and use to practice FMC designs. That’s also a win.

    Another great video Pat. I have found the strips shrink slightly in length when I starch. I am going to make my Christmas quilt like the quilt behind you. I've had a layer cake for years in my stash. Please continue to show your quilts. They inspire me.

    I wore a sweater while quilting with a jelly roll. My first jelly roll and I didn't know about the pinked edges and fuzzies. I managed to remove the fuzzies...all over my sweater. My sweater looked like I had polka dots. I learned very quickly.

    I'm enjoying a cup of Hazelnut flavored coffee while watching your video.
    I love Bev's Christmas Adventure line so much, I bought enough fabric for a full quilt and a table runner. Just too cute. Couldn't resist! If I have scraps left over, I will make a smaller project or projects.

    I just had a major issue with strips being too wide. If they are 1/16 off, that becomes 1/8 inch off when you sew 2 strips together and the difference grows as you add more strips. If you then cross cut the strips into units, they might not fit together with other units that are turned a different direction. The first block I made was never going to lay flat. Put the whole project back in the box where it sat for six months until I came to grips with the fact that I was going to have to spend time with Jack and trim the pieces down. Also, one of the prints was a different size than all the other ones. Will never just dive into a jelly roll project again without measuring and trimming before I start cutting and sewing.

    The only reason I would precast is because of die bleed! What’s your advice on what fabric lines don’t bleed?

    • @PatSloan
      @PatSloan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      they only way you know if a fabric will bleed is to test it.

    I used to starch very lightly but one day, accidentally sprayed too much starch. The fabric was rather stiff but it was so much easier to work with and cuts were more accurate. So now I spray all my fabrics prior to cutting. I'm one of those who would rather cut my own. I had a layer cake where one fabric was slightly folded and I couldn't use that piece because I needed 5" squares. I'll follow Kimberly's advice on that and buy bigger. I think the tips are good for all fabric sizes.
