Another beautiful piece! I tend to like more wood and less resin in many turnings. This is a great example of balancing wood/resin to end up with a grand piece. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks David! I do like more wood and less resin, but for some reason with this one I kept wondering what might have been. So many pieces of wood I wish I could clone and try out different things!
Thanks man. I love seeing the tool through the wood like that, always trips me out. I haven't been on TH-cam much, but I saw you have some new videos out, so I'm definitely gonna catch up on those soon!

Looks very cool when you only part filled it with resin I was thinking OMG whats he doing but when it was finished I could see why very clever foresight great turn thanks for sharing
Man, that’s really neat. What kind of resin are you using? Is it a two part mix? And what kind of pigment are you adding? Beautiful. No need to reply. I see someone below asked the same thing. Thank you for sharing this with us.
@@CookWoodworks I took a segmented turning class like 10 years ago at local WoodCraft shop ... having never used a lathe ... it's pretty much all I know
Thank you! I forget the specific brand name, but there's a link to the one one I use in the description. It has a working time of about 30 minutes, and full hardness after 24 hours.
I kinda like the half resin fill + haf natural gap look/design. When I realized there was still a gap I thought the resin fell out, whew😵 I also like the pot belly or eggplant form ... it is pleasant looking and has a calming effect. Good experiment that turned out well IMHO. Keep them coming Drew! -Mike p.s. was it wet? let us know if it cracks at the pith. what specie?
Thanks Mike! The shape was partially determined because I used way too long of screws in the faceplate and had to keep the piece short haha. It was wet jacaranda, which I've had good luck with not cracking or warping. This one did move a little and the resin separated a bit at the top, but nothing too drastic.
You did it again WOW beautifully done love it when you turn logs that way
Thanks Raymond!

Very different but I really like it-great job
Great work not giving up on it. The unique shape came out awesome! Put a LED candle in there to artfully shine a light.
Thanks Tim! I actually wanted to try that with an LED, but I couldn't find my stash haha
Wow this is a long and not easy job. It turned out very beautifully.
Thank you! 😊
A very late 'Happy Easter' to you and thank you very much for sharing. It looks like a glorious Easter egg and it was great to watch you working.
Thanks for watching, happy Easter to you as well!
You’re one of the great I never miss the last second
Man that's a beautiful piece. Loved the shots while it was being hollowed where you can see the tool the majority of the way through.

Any idea what kind of wood it is?
This is more jacaranda. I have a big pile of it stashed away!

I was very unsure if it was the right choice, but I think it ended up not too bad. Thanks for watching!

Absolutely artistic piece. That looks like it belongs in a gallery on Rodeo Drive or Palm Beach. Keep up the great work.

Wow! Very cool.

Sweet!
I've mainly done segmented turnings for the last handful of years .. starting with something like that scares the absolute crap out of me
Segmented scares me, because I don’t have the patience or precision haha!
@@CookWoodworks I took a segmented turning class like 10 years ago at local WoodCraft shop ... having never used a lathe ... it's pretty much all I know
Great bowl, love the colors. What brand of resin do you use and what is hardening time?

Hi Drew, I love this piece and wouldn't change anything about it. What wood is it? Another great project. Stay safe. Cheers, Huw
Thanks as always Huw! This wood is jacaranda.

Tan hermoso, limpio y fresco. Hermosa creación tienes mucho talento. 🙂
Very nice! Subbed
I like this piece the way it is. I’m glad you didn’t use resin. It’s very nice. What kind of wood is it?
Thanks, I went back and forth for a while deciding! It is jacaranda wood from Southern California.
Stunning
Thank you!
Very nice!
Thanks as always Carol, hope you and your family are staying safe!
