OMG, I'm out of it. I thought the diploma had fallen down despite the tape, until I realized you blurred your personal info! Great job, easily $150 for that custom frame!!!
I bought them at Michael's (in the US). Other craft or hobby stores may have them as well. I had to buy much more than I needed, but I have other projects coming. The store will often cut it for you.
Excellent work Robert! I really enjoyed the video. You have many of the same tools I do (the Craftsman steel router table, Harbor Freight clamps, Dewalt random orbital sander). Can you please share the color of the accent paint you used? I assume the base paint was a satin black. Why do you say not to use red oak? I have two graduates that would like frames for their diploma's. Had a real chuckle at the end because my daughter got her degree in Speech Language Disorders; she's an SLP! Thank-you for the great video!
Thank you. The black was semi gloss, but satin would be great. The red was Rustoleum Sunrise Red Gloss #7762. Red is my favorite color, red/black my favorite color combination, and those are my shop colors. If you look at past videos, you will see I disassembled both my table saw and drill press to repaint them. Ha yes, the old Craftsmen stuff was great. There is an old Craftsman router under that table as well. Of course, now i have two other routers, and one more on the way. The red oak is so hard, it took many minutes off camera to wiggle in the glazing points. Use something a bit softer; it won't take a beating up on the wall. Congratulation to your daughter and good luck with your frames.
Why go to all that trouble and not finish the frame, mitres and joins all have gaps in them, you never fix anything of value with masking tape and never on four sides, plus you need to seal the back.
Very nicely done! Solid work with tools affordable by mere mortals. Easy to reproduce.
Thank you. Glad you liked it.

Thanks.
Ha, my eyes play tricks on me too.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you.
Great work Robert! Thank you for sharing the video with us👌👍😎JP
Thanks JP
Your very welcome Robert! Have a great weekend!😎
What wood did you use? And what other kinds do you recommend for this type of work? Thank you!
I used red oak. It's too hard, and the grain shows through the paint. Poplar is probably the best choice. It is smoother and softer, and paints well.
Thank you
where i can find the mountboards ?
