Love your technique, I have always wanted to get into and explore the book binding /junk journal world. And you made it seem so easy, and clear to grasp the steps, I think I will attempted to do one! TFS! Great work!👍🏻💕
This is the best tutorial I have seen on how to sew in signatures. I haven't done this before and have been too nervous to try it, you are clear and detailed enough to make me feel i could try it now. Many thanks xx
I have not had the courage to sew in signature with the phamplet stitch until now thanks to your wonderful easy to follow instructions, thank you very much , I love rebooking books with new insides
This tutorial was just great, you're such an easy teacher to listen to. I love how you explain each step thoroughly with attention to detail. Your journal cover is so pretty as well. I loved watching this 'how to'. TFS
Great tutorial. This was so very helpful. Haven’t made a binding yet and this made it so easy to understand how to do it. Thanks a lot. Happy Week! 🌸🦋🌸
Hey Marina another fantastic tutorial - thanks so much for explaining the process so well! I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to incorporate this hidden signature spine in a cover with ridges and curved spine - you know the sort that covered vintage books? Thanks for your time.
Hi Marina, new subbie here. Thank you for all the amazing tutorials, they are the best. I am working my way through all your videos and are in awe of your talent. 💕💕💕
Hi Marina. I dont have either of those. I know you said I could use card stock, I just have to score it. Where you marked your lines is that where I would score it? I've been looking for a tutorial that does this type of binding for awhile now. I personally like making signatures when I make my Junk journals. Not that Ive made so many. Im on my second one lol. I messed up my binding on my first one so I had to use my bind it all. Not a fan of using my bind it all on my junk journals. Thank you so much for making this tutorial!!
Hello, Trish! Great Questions! You would score up to the length and width of your actual spine! For example, if your spine is 2x9 (like mine) You want to may sure the center of your cardstock has the span of about 2 inches so that it lines properly with your actual spine! If your spine is 3x8 then you would want to make sure there was a center space of 3 inches with at least 1 inch (or more if you want)scored flaps on each side. So your total measurement for that piece would be 5x8. I messed up my very first 3 journals. I had no clue how to do a spine at all. I have learned a lot since then. Lol I hope that answer was helpful and made sense. Let me know if you need any more help.
Hey Marina - My journal is 10 x 8 3/4 and my spine is 10" L x 2" in wide . (A big journal) So with those spine measurements I add 2 inches to the spine ? My other question is that I only have 81/2 x 11 inch paper folded in half, so the length of the papers will be too small to be even with my spine. :-( So where can I get paper that's the length of my spine? Its not going to look right with all that space :-( And I already put music paper on the outside already . I want to use this cover for this journal. It looks like Iam going to have to cut it shorter on the sides in order for the pages to be even :-( Help! Any advice would be great. Thanks for the tutorial . You made it easy for me to follow :-) PS : Your probably too young to know who this singer is, but I am making a Barry Manilow junk journal :-) He's the guy in my pic on the left :-) Love his music
Marianna Osinski Hello, and happy 4th of July! Great questions! First answer: Yes! If your spine is 2x10 then you want to make sure the one you're sewing your signatures into is at least 4x10 or 5x10 so there are wings. The wings make the attachment much more secure. Second answer: Yes! the paper I use is 11x17 HP printer paper. I've added the link to the description box in case the one I post here doesn't work. I really like this paper but you have to be careful when you coffee dye it, if you bake them with your oven. They will stick together. To fix this all you need to do is place a sheet of (baking) parchment paper between eat page. Tips if you cannot order from Amazon: -I've also used easel roll paper and cut them down to the Individual sizes that I need for larger journals. -Cut hinge pieces at 1x10 score at 1/2 inch (center of cut strip) Then glue one 8.5x11 piece of paper to each side of scored strip. Fold in half and you'll have larger pages. (Measure and cut as needed.)
Marianna Osinski Oh, here's the link for the larger paper. If for some reason it doesn't work then there is one in the description box. I hope this was helpful! Please, let me know if you need anymore tips! www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IDS9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NkcxzbAJPYXGP
Thank you so much !! So I can order the 11 x 17 paper and cut the paper to t he sizes you listed . Yes I have parchment paper and I can order from Amazon :-) Happy 4th of July to you too :-)

Thank you so much!
How do I space the signatures evenly with the spine of my book? I have 6 signatures and I want them to be divided within a 1 inch space.
Does it matter the order that you attach your signatures? I noticed you started with the middle one.

It's hard to hear what ur saying with the background music.. your video is really good on teaching I just can not hear you... :(
This is an outstanding tutorial! The background music covered your speaking too much.
I love your video, but I can't hear you because the music covers your voice.
Technique and video great, just hate having to listen to music
Thank you! You don't have to listen. You can press mute or turn the volume down. 🥰
I really enjoyed watching this, however once the video reaches 9:30 I can't hear your voice anymore :(
I love this technique! Your music is too loud - can’t hear what you are saying
I have checked many woodworking plan sites. I think the instructions from Stodoys plans are the best.
Lose the music
Or...you can just adjust your volume. 😊
