You keep it REAL Klowny! You do it in real time and show real situations. As soon as my ignition seized, I thought, “I gotta find a Klowny video!” You are my go to for my 91 Camaro. Yes, a bit diff here but a lot of similar guts. Thanks for helping this gal out again! ❤️.
Awesome! Glad I was able to help you out again :)
I just did this on my 1990 Chevy pickup, now the key moves like new! I watched many TH-cam videos on this job beforehand, but your video was the best one, and the one I referred to during the job.
Glad i was able to help..dont forget to subscribe!
Just ordered a new lock cylinder for my 1971 Catalina. This video is a HUGE help! Thanks!

@@klowny1969 I did bud. I recently got a very special Chevy. And your vid helped me get the ignition out and swapped. In the pitch black. 😆 Tomorrow I can reassemble the wheel and drag it up to my house and begin the hardcore restoration. Now I have ignition keys. Next is the door keys...

Lol awesome! Good luck!
Thank you Klowny. Turns out i was missing the retainer clip on my steering column. No wonder it was so sloppy on my 79 Camaro. And thank you for mentioning the part number on the wheel compressor. Very helpful🤘🤡👍💣💥
Glad i was able to help you out!
Nice video and great job explaining the process. You definitely don’t want someone starting your car without the key. Especially here in New Jersey!
Hahaa yes..that definately wasnt a good thing..thanks for stopping by again!

At first the cylinder was moving back and forth but since I've pressed down on the tab the cylinder. Is locked and won't move at all now I'm wondering if I'm gonna have to drill?
Your vids help a lot of us shade tree mechanics. Great work...
Thank you sir!!
Another great Video ! Could you maybe do a video on how to install a push button start on a third gen camaro? It fits nice in the cigarette lighter hole. Thanks Klowny

Very well explained.

After unscrewing the screws for the signal thing there is still something blocking my ignition cylinder can someone help tell me what do I do
Any tips for getting those wires back on?
Do I need that tool to remove that inter ring
Do you need a key in the cylinder to get it out??? I didn’t see you use one so I hope I don’t, I’m trying to get a steering column for my 75 Malibu from a junkyard and want to keep my keys. Also can you turn the wheel after the cylinder has been removed??
I just poppet out the lock with my heavy duty screwdriver, nearly crushed my side window, 1974 El Camino.
Smashed in the new lock with an ax, backside of the ax of course, with a piece of wood between.
4-5 minutes work approximately, no damage not even marks on the steering column,
except from I nearly crushed the side window when the lock came out like a bullet.
Hello I have a question I have a 77 camaro that the ignition cylinder does not go all the way back to the position where I am able to remove the key it just stays on the 2nd off position where I can unlock the steering wheel to turn left and right. I can move the cylinder forward to turn on the fuel pump and even further to turn on the ignition. However the cylinder does let me turn all the way down to release the key I recently used this video as a guide to help me install a new cylinder which I did have success in changing the old ignition cylinder and putting in a new one with a new set of keys which came with it however the issue still remains which is that I cannot remove the keys because it stays on the 2nd off position which unlocks the steering wheel....any help would be appreciated thank you.
Good stuff sir

@klowny69 ignition went in fine but can’t get signals to connect if that makes sense ?
Hey Nice vid
But I’m trying to put the steering wheel back together but the pen tool keeps popping out the middle rod and I can’t put the snap ring on, any ideas?
Did you ever figure it out
Welcome back GUYS?!?
i decided to address my smaller audience
When this car was made ppl were using screw drivers and slide hammers to remove it.. LoL
lol yes they were
I always put bearing break in grease or some sort on the cylinder.

Can the ignition switch cause the car to not have no power even though there's no wire running to it ?
Have you looked at your cars wiring diagram?
one hint I can give you is when your taking the screws out of the turn signal assembly use magnetic screw driver I have lost many of yhem screws down inside the column.
Thanks for the tip..don't forget to subscribe
My ignition doesn't lock in place?
I followed you all the way but my plat had to screwed in the back it was said by you that it would just Pop out

Sorry to hear!!!
Rip the cylinder out with a dent puller
Yeah... So much of this is outside the tools I have. Stopping the watch and finding another that uses tools regular people have.
I think I used just one specialty tool
Thx U✓

No Brianna? Hope you guys haven't separated, it being Valentine's and all : )
she was in my kitchen making me a sandwich ;)
looks like you've done this 1 or two times before... ;-)
a few..yes lol
That is literally the same as a balancer puller
What a freaking pain in the whompus. Nice of GM to make a design that requires not one, but two separate proprietary tools just to get into the steering column
Lol yup..don't forget to subscribe
Should be easier for my 69 C-10, the ignition is in the dash, lol.
Oh yes definitely lol
