Can This Tire Survive 100 Holes?(GoPro Inside a CAR TIRE )

  • In this video, I mount a GoPro camera inside a car tire and drive the car around to see what it looks like inside a wheel with a tire that has 100 repair plugs in it.
    I test how Safe it is to Drive With a Plugged Tire, and when I say Plugged Tire, I mean 100 Plugs In A Tire. The result was pretty awesome; I found out that even if you put 100 Plugs In A Tire, nothing happens (in my case). In the first part of the video, I used the Goodyear Eagle Touring tire, and I found out that the rubber was strong because it was a run-flat tire. When I drove over 100 nails, the tire was intact, and none went through the tire.
    In the second part of the video, I used a 7-year-old tire from Hankook winter i-cept rs2 because winter tires are softer than summer tires.
    The plug is supposed to be a temporary fix, not a permanent solution to repair the hole in your tire. While driving with a plugged tire is safe, it is only safe to do so for a short time!

    I have used lots of plugs in my tires over the years. I’ve even put them in the shoulder, and the sidewall (gasp). What I have learned is, that an exterior installed plug (not patch plug) will last the lifetime of the tire. Problems arise if the tires you want to patch are old and dry. Plugs exert force on the surrounding rubber, and old dry tires will split there and leak again.

    As a tire tech I would honestly replace the tire at that point but this is a good video showing how good plugs can hold in. Sidewalls are a no go point for me even if the tread is brand new with about 20-60 miles on it(which some customers have warranty on their tire ajd some dont) I help people stay safe on the road from blowouts to full on tire ripped off type of stuff by putting a bew tire on.

    • @reallifeengineer7214
      @reallifeengineer7214 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alhambra792 Many bad things can happen in the long run. Just to name a few:
      Increased wear on the suspension in that corner. (Shocks/struts)
      Increased wear on the wheel bearing in that corner. (Inside of wheel bearing doesn’t move relative to the hub/axle. So the heavy spot on the tire translates to that same spot in the wheel bearing press hard against the ball bearings. It’ll wear down that ONE SPOT on the inner race quicker than how the rest of the inner race wears.
      Having just replaced a wheel bearing myself within the last month, trust me, you don’t want to be in that situation where you’re getting quotes from shops or doing it yourself. 😅
      Rebalancing tires is cheap, in the grand scheme of things.
      If one is lucky, a new set of tires only need initial balancing when mounting.
      But, sometimes tires need a rebalance at roughly halfway through their useable tread life.

    I always keep a tire plug set with me. It's saved me hundreds of dollars and the trouble and/or expense of having to get towed or waiting for someone to come save me. I've never had a plug leak even after several years. Even when my buddy was stranded with a hole in his sidewall. I put 2 plugs in the sidewall thinking it would only be temporary but it held for about a year when he replaced the tire because it was bald. I always use rubber cement instead of the grease. It makes a much better bond.

      i think the problem that you will not be able to fill the tyre with air as tyre edge stick tightly to rim inside edge

  • @FK-em3gw

    used a few plugs over the last few years until replacement - mine get replaced every 6 months due to mileage - plugged a 15mm bolt puncture once too - do it right and it will be fine. I would never plug and drive till replacement in the shoulder edges though

  • @youknoweverything7643
    @youknoweverything7643 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fyi you don't have to trim the plugs they will trim off after you drive it for a half a block lol. Now I know if I ever make a break from the cops and get away and they spiked my tires I can plug them up and be good to go with a hundred plus plugs in one tire. And all that work to turn it inside out just for us was appreciated it looked super cool man

    I always considered that type of plug temporary. Any time i used them I always had the tyre patch repaired as soon as i could.

    I’ve been using plugs for years . Once put 7 in a large tractor tire .
    I have never , ever , ever gone to a tire shop for a patch .
    I’ve lost ONE PLUG after putting in a rear tire of a corvette zo6 without cutting it flush with tire . About 1 week into burnouts I pulled the plug .
    Point is… plugs work .
    I use a 5/16 drill to reem on 10 ply truck tires or you can hardly get them in .
    I’m 6’4 , 250lbs . Just try it !

    I've had the pleasure of having my belly split open and I could see my intestines. The video from inside the tire looks eerily similar. My intestine was moving like a worm that just swallowed something huge and couldn't get it down. The ER just stuffed gauze into the hole and didn't even sew it up. It closed on its own... kinda like one of those tire patch ropes.

    说明, 用这种所谓的应急补胎方式, 是完全没有问题的, 可能比拆下来补疤,还要更好, 对轮胎的使用寿命更长。橡胶虽然会老化, 但是也仅限于外层被阳光和雨水接触的地方, 内部的橡胶, 还是一如既往的保持新鲜。
