You got ripped off. That was not a NY strip steak. You got an old prime rib cut instead.
And condescending wait staff dude walks by, Danny asks about "NY strip", dude tries to correct him and say "it's a NY steak" as he never breaks stride. I hope someone from MGM senior management watches this, cuz somebody's ass is gonna be in a wringer over this embarrassing excuse of a $56 breakfast.
By the time you finish examining that steak, your entire expensive breakfast will be COLD!
That looked like an ribeye steak with char marks, but, no malliard reaction for the crust. The male server seemed to agree with you. The woman, I don't think she lied...but, I don't think she knows the difference between New York an ribeye.

Great breakfast of Champions! Another fine upload and, by the way, good camera work and editing. It looks like a thinly cut Prime Rib. The Maillard Reaction is the browning effect when grilled. It takes meats, biscuits, bread, marshmallows, etc., to that toasty umami flavor.
You are correct on the steak. Nice idea on the toast swap. Thank you for the video. I will be in Vegas in a few months and will not be dining here. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the great work.

Restaurant employees are arrested all the time for spitting in first responders and military personnel food. BTW just because u did a job for 25 years doesn't make one an expert in that job field.
Apparently, A "New York Steak" and a "New York Strip" are not the same at the MGM Grand... LOL. But it does look like a Rib Eye to me...

I much prefer a NY Strip over ribeye when I go buy the whole beef from costco, I buy the prime graded ones and the Primerib ones are just way too fatty..

Hey Danny, love your videos keep them coming. I spent a lot of years in the food business, and if a cut of beef is not in the Meat Buyers Guide it can be anything. NY Strip is in the Meat Buyers Guide. NY Steak is not. I think you hit it right that what you got was what was left over from last nights prime rib.

Go to the cafe at Palace station ! Order the same thing ! So much better !
Brass Fork is a really good restaurant! My cousin is a well known food critic and always eats there at Palace Station. It’s his favorite when in Vegas.
I used to eat brass fork all the time, it was a good alternative to their buffet back then.. sigh...

say what you want about the steak but that sure looks a lot bigger than 8 oz, I personally would have been thrilled with that even if 1/3 of it was gristle- also ribeye is a more expensive cut
There's a lot of people in the food service/restaurant business who will claim, "What's the difference?" There's also the oldie but goodie, "Eh? It's close enough!"

I definitely thought the avocado toast was over-priced. If I'm going to pay $16 for avocado toast, they better be well to deliver - no questions asked. And a scored steak - I don't think so. 👍 vid.

Bellagio steak and eggs at $33 was delicious and I did not mind the price as it was full value. Best meal I had in 7 days.
Very adaptive with using avocado with wheat toast to make your breakfast more enjoyable. True NY steak would be thicker with less fat. Again, I enjoyed your video!

Country scrambled are more the style of the egg and the method of which it was prepared, NOT the type of egg itself. Country scrambled are not whipped/stirred/mixed together as much as the standard scrambled egg. I am with you on that steak, it sure as heck looked ALOT like a RIB-EYE to me. There is NO WAY that hunk of meat was a NY Strip or NY Steak which I think are all the same just named different depending on where you are from. I do NOT think that it is like a Crab Rangoon vs. a Krab Rangoon with one made with real crab and the other with imitation crab. Thanks for the great vlog!

Looks like last night's leftover prime rib. Instead of giving you an 8 ounce NY strip steak they gave you a re-fired 16 ounces of prime rib figuring most would be happy with this substitute.
looks like they re fired a cut of prime rib with the cap and very expensive considering the quality or lack of great potatoes, maybe they have those in the catering pans for the breakfast rush, the toast looked okay though i am surprised the staff dont wear masks with the highway robbery prices underway for patrons

Used to be a great food, great value, 24-hour dining spot when it was the Studio Cafe. Haven’t eaten there since.
Pretty pricey breakfast when you consider the quality of food you received. That is most definitely prime rib. Strike that restaurant off my list.
New York strip Steaks are the wider portion of a T - Bone or Porterhouse. They can cut them very Thick but they are never that Wide.

What amazes me is that two employees heard you loud & clear question the cut… AND DID NOTHING! A good employee will listen to you & then go find out the correct answer. THAT … to me… is the real problem.

That definitely looks like a ribeye or prime rib. I’ve never seen a new your strip look like that & that’s all I ate for YEARS!! SMH I agree .. they tried to act like it’s you.. it’s not.
That looked like a very satisfying meal, at least at first glance. But, I'd say you were overcharged for the quality you received (in my personal opinion). Even if the steak flavor was okay, you should never have to question what the cut of the meat was, nor should you have to put the avocado onto a different slice of toast in order to be able to eat it. I don't even want to talk about the mediocre potatoes, let alone see them on my plate. However, both the orange juice and the eggs looked really good. Thanks for another great video Danny ... Ribeye steaks are typically more tender than ny striploins. I would be happy to get a ribeye like what you got.

The ribeye and the strip loin come off the same cow. One is just lower on the animal.
Terrible service and terrible food! I would have sent all of it back and walked out. Who’s she trying to fool? NY steak? She’s had that complaint before.
If that is a rib eye, it barely has any marbling in the steak, the rib eye steaks also usually a much thicker cut.
