- Come with us as we find Thunder Eggs containing agate, blue chalcedony, quartz, rippling rhyolites and more. The steep climb up the Steens in Eastern Oregon provided incredible scenery and vistas, the perfect backdrop for a rockhound adventure. Of course we cut the Thunder Eggs at the end so you can see the spoils of the journey!

I sure love watching all of you young people. I am too old and disabled to get out anymore 😮. But, all of my rockhounders like you help so I don’t miss it quite as much
We love taking you along for a fun ride, cool hike, and plenty of rocks. Thanks so much for watching, Becky, cheers!
That was full of wonderful eggs! Beauty in each one is so different. Thanks for sharing karen and id caption "nose lickin good eggs!"
Thanks, Lisa! I'd have gone there if there weren't rocks but those rocks are lovely, so worth it! I'd agree Ochi found em rock licken good!
Thanks so much. I love watching rockhounding. To see the earth's inner beauty was 👏 amazing. Thumbs-up 😊😮.
This was such a fun adventure, glad you could come along virtually! The amount of earth's inner beauty showing here is amazing and we didn't even scratch the surface, more of that to come. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Looks like a beautiful hike, but a long one too. It is absolutely gorgeous up there! That is the fun of cutting open thunder eggs, you don't know what could be hiding inside. You guys definitely got a bunch of terrific eggs that are polish worthy! Looking forward to seeing that video. I'm glad you guys and the pups all had a great day. Thanks for sharing Karen!✌️🤠🤘
Yes it was an amazing hike and long for how many actual miles it was. That climbing and descending really puts you in touch with some muscle groups, lol. That surprise element is definitely one of the charms of thundereggs, just can't get enough! It'll be fun to polish these, the maroons, purples, blues and greens are among my favorites in all of Oregon. Thanks again for watching!
Absolutely eye candy!! What an incredible place to explore! I felt like I was there with you. Thank you for sharing your adventures! Learning so many things from your videos.. appreciated!
Glad you enjoyed it! This place really is incredible, well worth the long drive, and we're happy to bring you along, lol! Thanks so much for watching, cheers!
Loved the hike and all the thunder eggs! The last one with the blue heart had little dog paws around the edges. At least that’s what I saw!
Oh! I love that it has dog paws on it too, I see what you're saying! That's so cool! I can't wait to polish that one up, it sure is special. Thanks for watching and rock on!
Such a pretty area to hike around.
Those are some lovely eggs.
Some of the most beautiful country, IMO, we 'accidentally' get stuck back there a fair amount, lol. It was interesting how similar some of the eggs looked to those you had from clear over in Madras. Makes you wonder how far a mountain can chuck an egg! Thanks for watching!
Really cool!!
Thank you, Ivan!
Very nice scenery and very nice rocks. Looks like you had a ball. Thx for the share and stay safe and rock on.
That place is always amazing to visit, always a ball to be had. Thanks for coming along on the adventure, take care, and rock on!
Groovy tunes, volcanic chickens, and trippy thunder eggs 👍🏽 this video has it all! Such a beautiful location to rockhound also! Thanks for taking us along Karen 💎👀💪🏼
LOL, love that it checked all the boxes and I like your caption. It's funny, both Ochoco and Owyhee will steal thundereggs to chew on and Owyhee has been stealing rocks ever since he could walk! The are the consummate rock lickers 😂. Thanks for coming along, cheers!
We freaking love the Owyhee area. The landscape is just so unique and the rocks are out of this world. Great video Karen! Wish we had your knowledge while there though. We'll be smarter next time thanks to you! Beautiful sunset and eggs. Looking forward to the polishing for sure. Super cool stuff.
The expanse of Eastern Oregon is incredible. We just can't stay away. You're so right about the unique terrain and incredible geology. The knowledge is just a build up of exposure, the delight is in the adventure and discovery each time. Thanks for coming along and we'll be polishing these up soon! Cheers!
Beautiful! video. The scenery is stunning, somewhere I will never see in real life but you take us along on your walks, with the dogs ♥ and show us so much beauty. I really look forward to seeing those eggs polished. Thank you.
Thank you very much, Dawn. It's a really good thing these dogs don't mind being dragged around to these spectacular places, I suspect they even really enjoy it too, lol. Can't wait to polish these eggs, they do take a lovely shine! Thanks for watching!
Loved this! Amazing hike into amazing territory!!Great video! You guys are living the Dream! Wonderful! Thank You for taking us along. 💎 Still watching.
Thank you for coming along on the hike with us! That place just couldn't lose for anything, so much beauty and fun up there. Thanks again for watching, cheers!
Just watched the cutting round-up. Awesome stuff! Some o those eggs cut fantastic! Love the whole ‘chicken’ thing too! That’s so cool! And did I see some smokin’ gunz right at the end there?!! Wow! Great Video. You guys are AWESOME!!💎
@@rockhoundingwithjasperblue Those eggs, if stable, can be so good! I love the blue and purples, it'll be fun to shine some of them up. Some that I've done in the past turned out so juicy! You know that rockhounding is a good workout, the more rocks you carry...lol. Thanks again!!!
@@OzoneFineArtVentures Definitely!!💎
I very much enjoyed your video. I’m glad I found you.
Beautiful hike ✌️💜😃
The stones are amazing

Glad you enjoyed it! That hike was definitely breath taking in every way, luckily there's a hot spring nearby!!! Those eggs still having me swooning, can't wait to polish some! Awwww, thanks for the feedback, anything to improve stressful days. Cheers and thanks for watching!
What a wonderful video!!!
Beautiful sites, and amazing finds!
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
So glad you enjoyed it! It was a pleasure to take you along, this place was incredible. Thank you for watching, cheers!
These are the videos that I love from you thank you so much!
Glad you like them! Thank you very much for watching! Cheers!
reminds me of a lot of the stuff i see where i live in california. also high desert, near red rock canyon. beautiful area over there! and thank you for the info!
It's interesting how many similarities exist in the west geologically. That's cool that you have that beauty near you as well. Perhaps we'll have to come down and check it out some time. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, cheers!
Awesome video, I enjoyed all the great finds!!
Caption this-" Yum, mama's making eggs for dinner!"
Love it! They love eggs for dinner, breakfast, lunch, snacks, any time! True rock hounds, lol. Thanks for watching!
I'm so stoked! ♡ You Rock! Thanks so much! ☆♡☆ 100!
So many awesome rocks! You make such great videos!
Fabulous video, with titanic finds in an astounding setting! Your descriptions are priceless; I'm adding terms like "gnarly", "wavy", and "gooey" to my common chert characteristics, just to spice things up! "Twinkie jam" inspired saliva flows on this side of the screen! Thanks for the adventure! Still not licking any rocks, but your eggy examples sure look...tasty!
Thanks and I'm glad you don't mind the stream of consciousness vernacular! It's funny when I'm going back through the footage to edit and I'm like 'lol, you said what?!' These eggy delights wouldn't be good to lick, they used to mine cinnabar up there and the miners legit went crazy (so the local lore has it). I'll be polishing these up and we'll have a look soon on the podcast! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, thundereggs are one of my rockhounding weakness, it suck that there aren't any spots near me.
Awwww, that is a bummer! But you have so much else that is awesome near you! Perhaps you can come down and hunt for some at some point? Thanks for watching, cheers!
@@OzoneFineArtVentures That is true, the grass is greener on the other side eh :)
I thought I was subbed but no. So just subscribed. Love your videos

Awsome
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
@@OzoneFineArtVentures I really enjoy your guys videos. Vary informative.
😂I’d caption it “delicious thunder eggs FOUND!” 😆
😆😋😎
Hello. My husband and I would like to know the location of your trip to the thunder egg trip. By the way cute doggies
This is a trail on the back side of the Steens Mountains (Alvord Desert side). It's a huff puffer of a hike up the canyon, but really beautiful. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Like your video, but you should dump the background music, so its easier to hear what you are saying.
Thank you for your feedback, Chet. I agree the levels need messing with big time, all part of the learning curve making these videos. Thanks for watching, cheers!
That tree might become good charcoal when it dies later
Agree! Thanks for watching!
Is it in crane creek?
No, I think that's a spell west of this location. This is in the Steens. Cheers!
Hey Karen, I have some michigan fossils Lily and I would like to send you? Do you have an email I can reach you at to get your address!
Thanks Karen, you rock!

Glad you enjoyed it, looks like you're not that far from here. It's one of our favorite places...meaning that whole SouthEastern quad of Oregon, lol. You can toss all the adjoining Idaho to that favorite-ness as well, such cool country! Thanks for watching, cheers!
