I also can vouch for the skull and co grip. Have it for my OLED and it's very comfortable, has swappable grips and fits in the dock with NO bulging. Seems to be easier to find in the UK too.

Having owned the skull and co. grip, as well as a satisfye grip, I can vouch for the Skull and Co. being superior. The swappable/removable grips mean it can still be stowed in a regular case or bag, and it’s still dockable too. Honestly the Satisfye grip looks like a ripoff of the other.

I've had one of these since the Ronin came out, and i love every part of it. Especially having the 2 cartridge slots, they have a solid click, and you kinda need your fingernail to take them out, but it's very secure, and way better than going to the game case to change games. I also recommend the Elite case, holds a portable battery pack in the bottom, right angle cable to charge in the case, plus a top pouch that can hold more joycon, those slim 8bitdo controllers, and genki dock and cables

I love this grip but agree with the dock issues, the bulging is just enough to make it just not feel good and a little sketchy. They could have made the plastic thinner but cover a larger area (covering the kickstand which is useless with this grip) to maintain rigidness but feel smoother to dock. I also don’t like that the feet obstruct the ability to push the console out via the joycons. I’ve had older joycons that don’t quite snap in so when you push on the console to release from the grip they snap off, it also just causes unneeded pressure on the rails of the joycons. The game storage is actually near and useful to me but it is poorly designed and they are very hard and awakward to get games out.

  • @JittikMieger

The JoyCons are absolutely atrocious: sticks are to small, they are prone to drift, there is not a good D-pad and they are seriously uncomfortable to use!
We use Hori Split Pads and Nyxi Hyperion Metor pads: you get normal sized sticks, a very good D-pad, good sized buttons and very comfortable grips.
Downside: our Switches are as big as my Steam Deck...

Hi, I got the Mobapad M6 joycons recently. They are amazing. Bigger and easier to grip, premium, clicky buttons (Omron microswitches), haul-effect sticks (You can change the faceplates, as they are magnetic, as to have an 8-direction gate, like a fight stick, which helps for a lot of games.) and the best d-pad I have ever used. (I can finally enjoy street fighter 3 on my switch in handheld.) I added some small rubber pads to the sides to help with grip, as I live in a hot country, so sweaty hands can be an issue, but otherwise they transform the switch into a much more premium feeling system. And they have HD rumble and motion controls which work great for Switch Sports. If the triggers were analogue (not used in many games) and they had some rubber grips, they would be almost perfect. Already the best by a long way in my opinion and they fit in the dock. (I added some U-shaped USB adapters, so my cables don't point out the side of the dock and don't interfere with the larger grips.)

Been looking into maybe getting these. One question I've been asking of people who own these is, given that the buttons are akin to a mouse click, how loud are they really AND is it so loud that it becomes slightly annoying to either yourself or those around you?
Thanx in advance for the feedback.

@@sofaking1180 The buttons are louder than others, but they are the same as clicking a mouse. It doesn't bother me, but I have been told it sounds loud. That said the buttons feel much better than others, plus the d-pad uses the same switches and it is fantastic for fighting games. It's a night-and-day difference in my opinion.

I dislike the ZenGrip Ronin because all the gravitational weight/force rests on the joycons.
This wears down the rail connection with the base that wants to fall down out of the joycons that are hold up by the grip.
I'm using an USB-C extension cable with my dock, so my Switch stays in the grip and stands next to the dock.
Ideally I'd buy a mod kit for the dock to change it so that I can slide my Switch in even with the grip on.

I got one of these after having one of the originals and while the dockable nature of it makes it a step up in my book, it's not 100% an improvement. The molding, most notably, has more flashing on it around the parting lines, and there's more of a gap in the union of the parts. It's also less rigid than the original. BUT, if you play docked a decent amount, it's a huge step up. If you play mostly mobile, go with the original.

If you're a handheld only player I highly recommend the Fixture s1/s2 (depending on what switch you have) and if you have a pro controller it seriously can't be beat at the moment. I have converted every Switch owner in my life to switch to it, honestly should get a kick back from Fixture by now. Can angle the arm and Switch anyway you want for how you're sitting or laying down and the biggest plus is you get to use the pro controller while in handheld. I went through quite a few grips because I just couldn't play handheld long without my wrists hurting (preexisting condition). But I can hold the pro all day with the switch attached. So if you have similar issues look into it.

For handheld mode, I personally use the Hori Splitpad Compact. It's much larger in size compared to the original joycons, much more ergonomically designed for the hands, and it can be used on the original Switch model or OLED model... they can also be docked without any trouble on any Switch dock too, so no hassle with having to use any sort of grip device! The only functionality missing from the Hori Splitpad Compact is the motion sensor and NFC sensor.

My dock 💩 the bed about 1.5-2 years ago.
Oddly, I use the switch in handheld 99% of the time. So I used the dock pretty much exclusively for charging.
So why the video portion of the dock pooches is beyond me.

Big fan of the Split Pad Pro by HORI. Not so much a grip as replacement for the joy-cons (None wireless, only works when connected). Fixes my main problem when playing handheld: The joy-con buttons and d-pad feel too small and not tactile enough. And since it just replaces the joy-cons it doesn't impede docking at all.
Now I just need to find a case that fits the switch with them connected. It's huge.

I've been using the Satisfye since it came out.
The non-symmetrical grips are perfect for long gaming sessions
I've been saying this for years that they needed one to go in the dock!
Surprised you took so long to do a video on this version!
edit-since I got my satisfye grip two years ago I haven't played docked at all...

I have bought two of the satsifye grips and they wind up leaving kind of an eraser trail on the back of the switch from the rubber bumpers. I just switched to using the hori compact joycon replacements and it's solved all my problems. Weighs less too.

The grips aren’t bad but then you’re left to deal with those thumb sticks unless you want to pull them apart. Not a fan of the limited movement and drift. I got the Mobapad M6 HD, and WOW, so much better.

Congrats on your recent nuptials 😊
As for this product, I've been a Switch owner since launch, and while my Switch is easily my most played console, I'd estimate 99% of my thousands of hours playing it have been in docked mode. However, the recent Balatro release has finally got me playing it in portable mode, and as someone who has wrist issues, I could definitely see this helping an "old 37 year man" like myself :P

Grip cases screwed up my oled. Can barely play with the joycons attached anymore because they just fall off (won’t lock properly in place anymore). Don’t know if the wing sliding bars are bent or if it damaged the locking lugs when removing it from the grip case I had. So I’m pretty much just using it on one of those desk vices with telescopic arm.

Was skeptical but when I realized I could use grips and dock it, I was in love. My only hesitation is that we're very near the end of the Switch's lifespan. If this had come sooner, I would be purchasing it right now. I just hope they come up with something like this for the Switch 2 (if the console doesn't change form too dramatically)
EDIT: Ah, you made all those points at the end lol

Is there a fix for joycons for house of the dead remake? There was a update that fixed it a bit. still wonders after a wile. even tried getting them replaced with no luck. IDK.
ended up getting doyoky gamecube controllers. IDK motion worked out better. Even the switch pro controller worked better.
There is joycon drift fix that replaces the joysticks. will that help. kinda don't want to get arms and switch sports now. Works grate with other games without motion.
