- In this episode of DKD (Dikshita Kshetra Darshana), we visit Sri Vanchiam.
Dikshita Kshetra Darshanam (DKD), by Guruguhaamrta, is a project which endeavours to produce high-quality video documentaries combining the musical and other aspects of Kshetras (loosely translated as 'temples') filmed and sung on location at these Kshetras.
This project was conceived by classical vocalist, G Ravi Kiran, who is also the founder and Managing Trustee of Guruguhaamrta in collaboration with storyteller, arts, culture, history and heritage enthusiast, Madhusudhanan Kalaichelvan.
Copyright rests with G Ravi Kiran, Guruguhaamrta and the performing artists for all the music used in this video.
Video shot and edited by M Muthukrishnan and his team comprising Boopathy Muthuveeran and Bharat.

Absolutely fascinating combination of gripping narration and soulful singing which has drawn me again to this great Sri Vanchhiyam which can replicate both Kasi and Ganga for the devotee, with the majestic temple forming the background. It creates a magical universe even for someone like me not familiar with the rich treasure of Vedic knowledge and hoary legends which assume living shapes and produce celestial music! Art and devotion marvellously joined together to hold anyone captive.

A huge thank you to Mr. G. Ravi Kiran and Mr. Madhusudhanan Kalaiselvan for the holistic explanation of Dikshitar krithi on Sri Vanchiyam. I had the opportunity to visit this hoary shrine in addition to Tiruvarur, Tiruvaiyar, Vaitheeswarankovil and other places six years ago and consider myself very fortunate. There is so much to know and appreciate in these sacred places, but what pains me deeply is that these lack of maintenance in general. Mr. Kalaiselvan mentioned the presence of scholars in these villages surrounding the Kaveri delta evenduring the early 20th century. It can be assumed that most of them, but not all were from the Brahmin community. The gradual extirpation of these people who were the pillars of the temple going tradition of Tamil Nadu is indeed a great loss to our culture and needs to be revived in a inclusive manner. Your effort to embark on this mission is deeply appreciated.
A couple of self corrections: 1. There should be a space between "even during" and 2. It should be "in an inclusive manner" and not as written previously. Om Namashivaya!

It is a nice sweet and young Surutti. Well explained. THIRIKKANNAMANGAI is about 8 kms. A big beehive T.Mangai temple is believed to be Devas who came for the Marriage of Vishnu , decided to stay there in the beehive. Shri Trichur Ramachandranhas rendered this tough Kriti so melliflouslyand uploaded in TH-cam
