    I never turn the travel down in my radio. If my control surfaces move too far, I move the linkage in on the servo arm. I always use the outer hole in control horns. I do sometimes turn the travel down on the flaps channel when the servo arms bind and I can’t easily take the arms off and move them a tooth or two.

    I follow the dual rates fairly well. However, I got lost when you did both the travel and dual rates. What is the difference between the two? When setting up your radio, is it necessary to do both, or just one or the other?

    So say hi is 80% of its max, and low is 55%. Expo is like if you gave it 15% throttle normally, it would be 20% expo, as well as 30% would be 40%, 50% would be 70%?

    excellent info, but the video needs a lot of help. please set the radio down and have a camera zoomed into it for explanations. by hand holding, the radio is all over the place and sometimes goes out of focus. Also, have an actual airplane there to show the responses. The talker should also use a microphone for consistent audio.

    Do you need to setup the normal travel before you use Dual rates or just set dual rates if using a switch for flight mode?

    • @SpektrumRCvideos
      @SpektrumRCvideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travels are more for your servo endpoints to get the full range of motion. Then use Dual Rates to reduce movements to your tastes. Hope that helps!

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpektrumRCvideos So leave the travel settings normal (default) and just add or remove travel to like with dual rates?

    • @SpektrumRCvideos
      @SpektrumRCvideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BDTennessee If the model is a pnp or bnf then yes. If it is a ARF etc you will want to setup travels to get the max control throws that are recommended via the models instructions. THEN use Dual Rates to adjust travels to your tastes and how you want the model to fly. Hope that helps!

  • @jtepsr

    Excellent explanation but i wish you used a plane so we could see how each flt control was affected. If i wanted the ail to compensate for the rudder movement so i stay level, how do i set that.

    • @SpektrumRCvideos
      @SpektrumRCvideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James! You could use a RUDD to AILE mix, BUT that can get messy depending on the setup. Make sure to put the mix on a switch so that you can turn it off incase it is causing the aircraft to be difficult to control.

    When setting up Dual rates, the video loses what you do with your hands on the transmitter, so i am left guessing a bit what is going on. The information seems to be there but is obscured due to this loss.

    • @jaseun1
      @jaseun1 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use exponential for my cr914. Sometimes you need full rudder to get out of a jam. Otherwise light rudder input is best for maintaining your speed.

    My manual refers to %, i.e 100% or 70%. So, do I put those values straight into the D/R boxes or must I interpret like in this video?

    • @jimvalim1567
      @jimvalim1567 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see that this post is two years old. I was lost on this myself. The instructions the come with the transmitter manual don't explain dual rates and exponential in detail. The manual that comes with the plane I have says the same thing. The thing is that it just says rates. If it would have said high rates 100% and low rates 70% it would have made it a little easier to understand. The manual should say that you have to set this up in the transmitter under d/r and expo, but it doesn't. They should also tell you to use a little expo to tame the plane while flying.

    I’m confused a little bit so 20mm means 53% and 15mm 60 ?

    • @AngryPepper1964
      @AngryPepper1964 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First you would have to determine how many mm. it is to 100% of your max. deflection from flat even, then it will be easy to figure how many mm. it is for a given percentage.

      If it is a DX6E like he has in the video; on the back of the controller is a large plastic switch. Open it up, remove the blocking piece of plastic, throw the switch to the other position, put the block of plastic back in, put to cover back on

    • @spanzer6179
      @spanzer6179 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow I just gave you bad advice. I did not read your post carefully Now my best guess would be the wires in the plane are mixed but only if you use this control for just of one plane. You get the point. I am new to all this but I do know there are 2 pages that deal with assignment of each control surface.

    how do I setup an idle up switch?

    • @SpektrumRCvideos
      @SpektrumRCvideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go to the Throttle Curve menu, then assign a switch. In one position you will have curve 1. In that position change the values (1 - 5) next to the graph to your desired new throttle curve. If you are just wanting to change idle speed increase the 1 value. Hope that helps!

      I noticed that with most all his videos, he speaks as though we all already know what all the modes and switches are meant for. More explination is required at a slower pace in my opinion.

  • @paulwright8532
    @paulwright8532 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't think it was made clear that dual rates require setting up two different curves (eg 0 and 1) that are what switch C shifts between. Too much time spent on setting how many degrees may be changed ... rather than how to set up the high/low function in the first place. Ironically, none of this is covered in the rather worthless user's manual. :-/
