Nah, back window tint isn't regulated, or barely depending on state. Just front windows. I went looking at new 2025's on the lot last week and I couldn't see in the back windows they were so dark!
In my area all the drug dealers drive in BMW's with loud exhausts and excessive tint and will always be stopped. I always wondered why they don't drive in these super family looking cars like a FIAT Multipla or something.
My friend drives one of those BMW's and he always gets stopped, me on the other hand drive this Toyota Yaris grandma mobile and police have never stopped me.

That might have been an illegal search, although it sounded like he did give consent but it was kind of vague. The open container would have given the officer probable cause to search the inside of the vehicle but not the trunk.

@@samwaldorf8777 I don’t understand why the insults are necessary, clearly you’re not well read on case law. His probable cause for the search was based on the open container in the front cup holder. As per Arizona vs Gant, the officer would only have the right to search the immediate area around the suspect, that would not include the trunk. The officer didn’t necessarily ask the suspect for consent either, he basically said, “the open container gives me the right to search the car” and the suspect responded with something along the lines of “go ahead”. It wasn’t clear or precise request, it was more so the officer telling the suspect what he’s allowed to do and the suspect acknowledging that. There’s a possibility that everything found in the trunk could be ruled inadmissible.

Go read up on Arizona vs Gant and get back to me. The open container would have only given the officers probable cause to search the inside of the vehicle. They popped the trunk before placing him under arrest so the vehicle was not yet considered impounded. The only way they could legally open the trunk is if the driver gave them consent or they were impounding the vehicle. You cant impound the vehicle until the suspect is arrested which wasn’t the case here. This guy has a decent shot at getting off on a technicality.
