Even though Insidious 3, and Insidious: The Last Key don't deal with Josh and Dalton, it deals with Elise, & how she got into the the job she had before she died. You even see how/why she did what she did. The movies are definitely worth a look.

The ghost mom I didn’t find scary but my dark humor kinda laughed whenever she was on screen. When she slapped the mom I was laughing my ass off and ik I shouldn’t laugh during her interaction with the son as a kid but it was giving Mommie dearest acting so I laughed there too. I really like this sequel and the 2 prequels and insidious 5 will never be on that same level as the first 2 movies.

It gives a short backstory to the BEEF with Parker Crane aka The Bride In Black and Elise - ‼️SPOILER ALERT AHEAD‼️ So basically , when Elise “got rid of” the bride in black for younger Josh, Parker Crane basically vowed to kill Elise when he got the chance. In the first one, when Elise had that weird gas mask on and she started to struggle,she went into the Futher to look for Dalton but Parker Crane got a hold of her and started choking her (this is a guess because they never actually elaborated on this) but because Elise is stronger alive, she fought her off. Fast forward to Parker Crane possessing Josh, now that Parker is in a human body, Elise couldn’t fight him off , hence why Elise dies at the end in the first movie.
the first time i watched this i swear to god it hurt my head.. i had to rewatch it to fully grasp what i saw.. ALSSOOOOO you should definitely react to the NEWEST insidious (its the continuum of THIS FAMILY)

I know this comments a few months late but I wanted to add that the reason they couldn’t just make Dalton forget in the first film is because he wasn’t in his body. His soul was in the Further which is why all the ghosts were coming to the house. They wanted to get inside his body and use it as a vessel. It was their chance at “living” again. At the start of the second film they’re able to make Josh forget because he’s still in his body and not currently astral projecting. Hope that makes sense.
The Red Door was such a disappointment for me. Honestly would recommend skipping it. Wish I could pretend this was the actual ending of the story for this family cause the Red Door was so boring to me.
