Silverstone 2023: Thinking of going as a day visitor? F1 British Grand Prix General Admission Ticket

Thinking of getting a day visitor pass to the F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone? General Admission?
Here are some highlights of a day pass (Friday) to the circuit.
Tickets go on sale early in the year but sell out quickly. You can purchase through the official F1 site. (Be prepared to enter a long online queue and to experience ‘dynamic pricing’ - the price quoted when you join the queue might have gone up when you finally reach the checkout due to demand).
Tickets are received via email and a cool Silverstone App.
We were also sent car park tickets (including a park and ride for the Friday to the east of the M1)
Bonus extras:
1. We also got an email offering to join a ballot for the first ever Silverstone Launch Party on the Thursday. It was easy to enter, I was successful first time but then we were on a reserve and got the tickets. (free). It was great - Kalvin Harris was headlining.
2. We also got offered free entry to the Silverstone museum which is worth doing while you’re there. We opted to go at 7pm on the Friday after most of the track action had finished.
There are several general admission viewing places around the track. We found one that is a not particularly signposted to, between two of the Hamilton Straight grandstands. Right on the pit straight! Opposite the Ferrari Garage. And on this particular weekend, opposite Brad Pitt’s garage as he was filming on track for his new movie.
Stowe Corner was the other decent viewing place we found. Lots of space and a raised viewing area.
If it’s a sunny day or a rainy day, be prepared - there’s not many places to get cover with general admission. So bring:
- a water bottle! (There are free filling stations)
- a camping chair
- sun cream and / or umbrella depending on weather
- snacks / packed lunch
- money!
There are over 200 food outlets and unlike some other venues you can use the local currency (£) at Silverstone and not F1’s rip off Credit system.
It’s a great day out - even just for the Thursday / Friday, you get loads of track action and an overall fun experience among a happy festival vibe crowd.
