My 6 casa children think of me as their kind of grandmother.

CASA is not for everyone, from my personal experience a lot of Advocates have grown up themselves in an unhealthy family environment or has experience in the child care system or law enforcement. Getting the training and certification along with a judge consent once taking an oath in court, might not be a collage degree but many advocates do have a collage education or have some experience working with Children/Youth. There are many sections that can be taken into action to place children with a Family member until or can become a grounded placement. CASA is not a government organization, main goal is to truthfully report or be the eyes and ears of the judge in a case. Along with being a solid support system for the child or children involved. In many cases, a CASA can only do so much or go so far to ensure that the Youth or Child is in an environment that best fits there needs and wants, there are many pieces in the puzzle to get everyone involved or on the same page in that particular case. Many cases do have Youth who are in the foster care system but many are Not as well. If a CASA can be appointed at the start, (Not 2-5 years down the road) working with the different parties involved with the Child's needs and wants taken into consideration then the Child has a greater chance of not going into the foster care system. That I feel is important, if the Parent/Caregiver can get assistance, takes action, along with the Child's voice being communicated honestly through a CASA then there is a better chance of the child being able to be reestablished back in there Home or be placed with a Family Member(time frame) until that can happen. When a case first begins, TIME and everyone's commitment is crucial in the Case being a success or ending well with the Child placed back into a Happy and Healthy Home with there original caregiver or a Family Member.
