I was liking that Tuff Krate...until you told me you can't stack 3600s vertically. Deal Breaker. And OMG as I continue watching...$105 for THAT??? Ridiculous. Nevermind. It deal-broke itself... $205 for the Kayak Krate??? OMG again... I'd say that the winner, hands down, is that Blackpak Pro by YakAttack. Not an awful price for something that you can do a lot to. Can you put the rod holders on diagonally on that thing? That would be sweet. PHENOMENAL Video, Jay. NONE of these are right for me and they're probably not right for a lot of guys, so you hit it out of the park at the end by suggesting your other video on building your own. Great work. 👍
Thanks for watching Bryan! Agreed, the price on the kayak krate is WILD for what you get 👎🏽 The tuff krate is a great option but if they made it a hair taller to accommodate those 3600 vertically, it would be on another level. For the last 3 years, my milk crate did everything I needed it to. That thing held everything plus more and handled the abuse I threw at it. So it’s a good option if these aren’t. Appreciate you bro! 🙏🏽
Thanks RV! If I’m able to get my hands on all 3 sizes, I’ll definitely do a breakdown. After having the 16x16 for a bit, I think the 13x16 would’ve been good for me too.
I honestly kinda hate that you can't buy the Flambeau base and add the top later. It's either one or the other, and because of that, I would rather just spend the money out the gate and get the blackpak.
Cool video... New sub here, love the Dad jokes too. I'm getting ready to make a crate vid myself..... Waiting on the new halfpaks from Yak Attack to show up. The Wilderness krate is not waterproof or resistant too well, i added door weather strip to mine and it helped out. Good job on the video
I’ve used the old DIY Crate, Wilderness Krate, Hobie Hcrate, original blackpak, 13x16 Blackpak Pro and recently upgraded to the 16x16 so I can store tackle and my battery for the Newport motor inside it. Each have had their pros and cons but the ability to customize the blackpak pro has made it the top pick for me. When I used a Revo I turned the 13x16 long ways in the tank well and had the rod holders set up accordingly. Jumped in a newer outback and turned it the wide way and way able to easily swap around where I wanted the rod holders, added bungee on top to hold my rain jacket, some bungee dividers inside to separate tackle boxes, 90 degree mount for the VisiCarbon pro light… so many ways to “Make it Yours”
Honestly, seems expensive for what you get, but the open profile might be better for certain set ups. Doesn’t have enough to call my attention personally.
i did a DIY box. milk crate with a cut down crate as a lid 2 rod holders. the problem for me with the lid is at 67 years old i lack the dexterity to get into the box with the lid on. so i removed the lid which makes it easier. i also put tethers on the rod holders which i never use. thanks for an informative video
I have the Toughcrate. It came with my used Hobie PA14 I bought recently. I’m excited to get it out and give it all a whirl. Really great info. I’m having a ton of fun watching all this content and figuring out how to get this all together.
The original one is discontinued but this is a similar option: www.amazon.com/dp/B0784Y3VQ5/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_F1FMJG5DRCWYX8V2S30C?linkCode=ml2&tag=jdvalentin-20
Excellent information! I'm not a kayaker, but I do have a 12 foot aluminum boat and I've been looking at using a crate or two to keep my gear and poles organized. This video is very thorough. Nice job!
Great vid. I’ve had 2 out the 3 and love the new blackpro. Can’t wait to add the shortstak on the blackpak. Keep up the great content!
Might have to pick up that shortstak 👀 thanks for watching bro!
Love your videos. I found my flambeau at Wal-Mart on clearance for 15$ without the lid. It's a good kayak crate for the price.
Thanks for watching! That’s a steal!
Great video Jay! I went with the 13" x 16" BlackPak Pro. Fits perfectly in the back of Jonny! :P
Thanks for watching Aaron! 13x16 is a perfect size too!
Black bak pro has been working great for me
I love mine so far!
Good job staying straight. Nice vid. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏽
cant go wrong with a DIY milk crate
💯
after watching this I will keep my homemade crate
I used mine for 3 years and loved it 👌🏽

You can buy adapters to put the rod holders on diagonally but they do not come included
Great break down. Are you planning a break down between the 3 sizes for Yak Attack? Leaning toward 13x13 or 13x16. Great stuff Jay!
Thanks RV! If I’m able to get my hands on all 3 sizes, I’ll definitely do a breakdown.
After having the 16x16 for a bit, I think the 13x16 would’ve been good for me too.
Glad I went with blackpak. So many customizable options. I like that blackpak now has a top compartment just like the Tough Crate does.
I just got an email today about the new top. I'll be ordering one on the 13th.
@@kensorensen5321 yes sir. Tomorrow at 9am. I’m sure they will sell out quick.

Yeah I agree. That’s not cool
16:17 wait. so the manufacturer tells you how to do it, but doing so will void your warranty? thats not right.
Exactly! Caught me way off guard 😂

Appreciate it bro! Thanks for watching and for the pointer! Good to know 💪🏽
Bro the 15-20 minutes is a straight up lie! Hahaha I’m right there with you and I used a power drill also!
😂😂😂 100% bro
Great breakdown Jay. I’m looking forward to the short stack yakattack is dropping soon.
Thanks Lucas. Yeah that short stack definitely adds to the allure!
Gotta get a Blackpack!
They are sharp!
Looks can be deceiving. When I was doing my research, the WS krate had leaking problems.
Thanks for sharing. I wouldn’t have guessed!
@@BeardedDadFishing I know, right?! If I come across the video, I’ll send it to ya.
Nice video - love my DIY that is very similar to the tough crate. Spent maybe 20 bucks to make -cover on top. Had it for 3 years with no issues.
Hard to beat that! I rocked my DIY for 3 years and loved it.
Great review Jay! Black Pack Pro for me. Absolutely love it. So many cool accessories and more coming.
Thanks Joe! Agreed. Excited to grow into my Blackpak this year 👌🏽

I’ve gotta agree with that. The customization is top notch for sure! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
Hoping Yackattack uses 316 stainless for those screws to prevent rust?
I’ve owned the Tuff Crate but those latches would fall off frequently.
Now the black pack pro has the top storage section like the flambeau…only better with more flexibility
Yes sir! Gives it an edge for sure!!
Hey Jay, what are e your thoughts on the yakgadget low pro crate
Honestly, seems expensive for what you get, but the open profile might be better for certain set ups. Doesn’t have enough to call my attention personally.

For the price, it's hard to beat the Tuff Krate. I added some paracord to stop the lids from opening too far and added two more rod holders.
Agreed!

Do you have a link to the pouch on the front of the blackpak?

@@BeardedDadFishing thank you sir. I’ve tried a few off Amazon and they were all pretty chinsy. I’ll give this one a go.
Nicely done
Thanks for watching brother 🤙🏽
Does the Yakattack box let water in from the bottom, sides or top at all?
Thank you
No sir. The holes in the gridlock pattern are not all the way through. It’s not water tight, but my gear has stayed dry.
@@BeardedDadFishing awesome and thank you, that’s all I needed to know!!!
Thank you for the reply and thank you for making awesome videos‼️🙌🏻💥
@@txmexnittro happy to help brother! Best of luck and appreciate you watching 🤙🏽
Thanks, I just bought the Wilderness Systems Kayak Crate as it was on sale for $101 on Amazon.
Killer price! Enjoy it! Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
