This is a really super cute idea. You could make a set for your tree or a gift to someone. I think they would be cute with a little bell at the bottom and perhaps spray your strips with a little starch and press them before u braid them. It would give them a little structure. U could do a candy cane or a snowman. U could make little trees and then sew them together to make a 5 point star and in the center hang a little bell or a tear drop bobble like she had. Lots of possibilities.😉👍
@@createandcraftwithchristine Well as the old saying goes....the greatest creations were created by one basic idea, but someone has to be responsible for that basic idea. You!😉👍
A lil' tip? When trying to braid or macrame long strands, its helpful to wind up the ends in little bundles, and secure with rubber bands, and then pull them out as needed. Keeps all your strands out of your way.❤🎉
Hi Christine, thank you so much for this idea! It's fabulous. I'm going to get to work on a miniature for my tabletop tree. 🎄 I think every sewing list needs to have pliers on it, right by needles and thread. Every stitcher I know uses pliers. They come in quite handy. TFS 😊

That’s a pretty design, and so effective! The red and green work really well together. Could you plait in stranded beads as well? If you bundle up the tails and clip them with your fabric clips, would they get tangled less? I guess moving the clips would be annoying though. Also, if you turned the little silver heart over and then topped it with a tiny pearl, would it look like angel wings? I love hearing about Lucy the dog! Pets are definitely no respecter of tidiness and organisation! 🤣
Love your ideas my friend and so many possibilities with this. I think the clips on the ends are a good idea. You’re definitely right about dogs 😂 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Hello Christine. I love love love your little trees. I am making them for my friends and a few other people. I would be interested on how you would use buttons in place of the beads. I love watchinhg your channel. I have oodles of fabric, thread and beads.
Thanks Brenda - for buttons you could just stitch through them like a bead but through both holes so they lay flat between the fabric layers. Alternatively you could stitch them spaced out on a thin piece of fabric that could run up the centre of the tree which you could then stitch the fabric plait onto wending it’s way between the buttons. Have fun creating. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
I really love how you use fabric for the background on your studio desk. It really is very pleasing to watch compared to a plain desk or stark fabric cutting mat! Kudos for this. 🤍✌️
Christine, greetings from Southern California, USA. We are in mid-winter here, but no snow on the ground. I live about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Your tree decorations were adorable and really scrap-friendly! Bless you and thank you for sharing. 🙏💖💖

Just found your channel and I'm excited about what you make. I always close the knot into a drawer to braid my fabric. Or plat...I think you are saying. 😊
So lovely to have you here and I hope you enjoy making one of these! And yes, here in Australia we call it plaiting or a plait which is also known as a braid. 😊 cheers, Christine

Interesting project! It requires lots of dexterity. It's similar to other types of braiding as we call it in the U.S. I think I've seen 3 strips tied to the back of a chair with wood slats in the back. That way they would really be secured and easier to braid.
Thanks Kay! It’s definitely easier if you can secure the plait or braid to something and stand with the lengths a bit freer than it is possible on the craft desk under the camera. The things we do for our craft 😂 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
