you'd be surprised of the amount of college educated people who don't know who Paul Revere is.

This video seems to down play Paul Revere and his bravery....Here are some facts not mentioned:
Paul Revere risked life crossing the harbor that April night to reach Charlestown shores to begin his epic ride. The 64 gun British warship was in that same harbor ferrying soldiers from it to shore. Paul was in a row boat that was easily seeable from the ship, and there was an order for no one to be on the waters that evening...some how...miraculously...he was not spotted by British patrols.
He escaped cross country on his way to Lexington from two British soldiers who he ran into that night. The soldiers were a road blockade to stop any news of the Regulars marching on Concord.
He was the first rider (beating Dawes who left earlier than him) to reach one of the main cities (Medford) just past the blockade the British had set up. After quickly stopping at the first house to sound the alarm he then began to outwardly vocalize without stopping at houses, “the Regulars are out”; raising the alarm for men to gather in their militias. Finally after reaching Lexington and meeting with Samuel Adams and John Hancock he decided to continue to Concord. He was caught before Concord by British soldiers, and even though he was very much in danger of life stood strong and pointed out the fact that between those randomly posted soldiers and Boston where the main British troops were marching from, and where they would have to take their prisoner, stood thousands of gathering militia men...which prompted the British captors to release him as they thought it easier to travel and survive the Militias without a prisoner....Paul Revere was absolutely a key figure and hero during the feud with Britain. We must be careful of downplaying History when not portraying all the facts...

History has told this story and take it as fact. But it is not quite correct. The poem was written to protect the identity of the real rider, Colonial Prescott. His statue is on the top of Bunker Hill in Boston along the Freedom Trail.
