It was actually really nice to hear Jason use the word "retired" when decluttering his clothes. It made the decluttering and justification of decluttering the items seem more natural. I loved it.

Yes!! H & J definitely vibe together and seem like a great couple, but he lost some points when I heard Carla say he likes wire hangers. 🤣 Kidding. But, glad I don’t have to share a closet with him. 😂 I want them to upgrade their hangers one day though. They have the ones with wire tops, but the bottom is flat/slightly rubberized, and they would be perfect for everything (including tank tops that like to slide).
@@mandyjb77 Yes! The thin velvety ones like I got from Amazon. They are all the same color and they are great for holding on to dresses etc with thin straps. They take up less room than wooden hangers and they look nice.

Word! Way to much content make it seem we have to shop t declutter. This is not the case and it’s good when people show that
I just can’t get over the amount of decluttering you can do in such a short time. When I start to clean an area, I easily get overwhelmed and stop!
Weed stuff out that is going to be trashed or donated until you think youve gotten everything. THEN take out what's left and go through it one by one.
I am the same way, Mary. However, I have to say that you get better as you keep doing it. Do a little bit and when you feel you need to stop, then stop. It's okay. Once you start seeing the beauty and lightness of extra space, you will WANT to do it. Everything is so much easier to clean and manage and you'll love your place. One thing at a time. 🌿

When she said she didn’t have much storage I definitely gasped in 600 square-foot apartment horror. Her closet is the size of my entire bedroom 😅 still, they did so great and I am so glad they let you film this and I loved watching this!

I love watching men’s reactions to decluttering decisions. My husband was adamantly opposed to decluttering his clothes UNTIL he couldn’t fit anymore unto his closet rods & he finally realized that his “Dadbod” had changed shape (it happens!). He ended up removing two large black garbage bags full! We gave some away to nephews & his younger brothers because even used, I have always kept his clothes in great condition. The few things that were left were donated to the local thrift store for the disabled.
I really loved this couple! They seemed awesome and easy to work with. And the closet looks so good afterward! This was fun to watch :)

Carla,🌹you should have an express card to all Goodwill shop drop off spots around the world. You are a blessing to others.
You are so patient Carla! The way you calmly listen to all of the stories told for each item - wow! And people really seem to need to do that as part of the process. What a sweet couple they are! And they did a great job getting rid of so much - I'm sure it feels great! The only things I was struggling with were the hangers!! lol! I know it's better not to waste or to spend more money - but I was saying outloud to the screen that while Jason was out getting Command Hooks to get some packs of the velvet hangers or at least matching ones - I always think that takes the final product to another level! Regardless, you & Jason & Heather did an amazing job ♥♥♥

Hey Carla is one of my girls I watch daily. When I saw Heather and Jason I nearly died. Jason is my sons best bud. Love these people.

I'll admit, I'm nosy 😂. Also it's just satisfying, seeing space decluttered and reorganised.
I'm doing crockery at the moment. Finding it tricky because you have to wrap it up and pack it properly. I've brought it into the house either in its box, or wrapped in newspaper from the thrift store, one item at a time, but it has to go in bulk. Word of caution folks, don't overbuy crockery/breakable items, they're a pest to get rid of!
I use packing cubes to store my “out of season” clothes. I put them on the highest shelf of my closet. I do the same with some of my favourite clothes if they are too big or too small. I am 48 y.o. and my weight fluctuates.
I allow myself one size up and down, I know I will never wear European size 36 again (mother of 3 here 😊 )
I do something similar but even use them for some of the clothing that routinely gets worn. I keep all my socks in a packing cube and just unzip to pull out a pair when needed. Also started using one to keep my folded up flannels( for me folding worked better than hanging I am more likely to grab something from a drawer than a closet when I am getting dressed half asleep at 4 am). I really used them for organization of my wall locker when I was deployed. I have found them pretty hit or miss for traveling, they work well with a large suitcase not a backpack but they are great for prepacking when trying to get stuff set aside before packing. The mid and large sized ones with handles are also great as a standalone bag for visiting family over the weekend.

They did such a great job of decluttering. The closet looks so much better. I would've not only organized by type of clothing, but by color. Black, white, roygbiv (red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, violent) It makes the space look so much nicer and organized. Plus, it's so easy to find what you're looking for.

You are so calm and respective of your friends individuality when decluttering. The use of baskets , boxes, things they already have for storage is nice for memories as well as saving money.
This is the second video of yours that I've watched. I am so inspired by how you are able to start and complete the space in one day!! The first video I watched was an extreme garage decluttering and it took, you and the homeowner, 9 hours from start to finish.
I NEED THAT TYPE OF HELP, FOCUS, BODY DOUBLING, AND CONTINUED MOTIVATION, to tackle...Our garage, Attic, Our Master Closet and A Section of Our Master Bedroom. We recently (it's been at least a year😬🤭😮) did a "Master Bedroom Refresh." I've packed up the original decor into totes but I don't know what to do with it all...Now! They have been and still are, taking up space in Our Master Bedroom. I get to a point where,
"I feel like I'm just going in circles."😢 I feel like I make loads of progress only to feel defeated by the previous years worth of decor items. As far as Our Master Closet goes...I can get through about 1/3 to about 1/2 of the space and just crash. I get decision fatigue and I haven't figured out how to get passed it.
I should add, that our closet serves as extra storage, like keepsakes, a filing cabinet, etc...as well as all of mine and my husband's clothing, shoes, and accessories, of course.
This is way too long 😂 I apologize for dumping all of this in your comments section. I just thought maybe someone else might see that they aren't alone. There are other people out here currently struggling with the same things that they are currently struggling with. I feel like sections of my house adds to my anxiety....but there's only so much of me to go around, ya know?!

I'm excited to declutter again!! Thank you. I started about this time last year in the kitchen, then I hit the bedroom closet and dresser. Since then, I decluttered the kitchen two more times (it gets easier 😊). I had injuries that were getting worse, so my organization/decluttering came to an end. I'm now healing from hip replacement surgery and watching your videos ... AND .. watch out world, in just a few more weeks, I'm getting my game on!!!!!! I can't wait.

Would love to see them have matching velvet type hangers to bring in the cohesiveness to the closet. The colorful boxes that houses the pictures swapped out for matching all white boxes from IKEA would really pop! I hope you begin to create a series that showcases what the homes look like once your pop in 3-4 months later. 🥰

Same type of hangers, honestly, made our closet look so much nicer. My husband has always been neat with his side. So I can’t blame him for anything to do with my side. I’m the messy one. But, I bought nice black hangers. I cleanup, put away, gave some things and I haven’t looked back. It’s a nice neat closet to walk into.

great 'makeover' !! my main hangup with declutering is what to do whith the stuff that i dont want because a lot of types taking it to certain spots means only a small percentage of it will be donated and most of it is going to the landfill

They should get some garment bags for the winter coats as well as the sentimental dresses- they are great and will help preserve the items when not being used! Nice work!

If you have seasonal clothes, try magic bags. Bring out spring/summer let's say ,try everything on, purge and then pack up winter etc. Ditto in fall. I use a Rubbermaid type bin the put flattened stuff in. Also try pant racks.
I am a very organized person. I color coordinate all of mine and husband's clothes in our walk in closet. It makes it so much easier and faster to get dressed. I love clothes and have a lot, but do purge every Spring and Autumn, getting rid of things I have not worn in the past year. Living in Indiana, we have to have seasonal clothes. I suggest that you, Carla, color coordinate clothes in your client's closets and drawers. It makes a much more organized wardrobe!
I love matching hangers and sort by type and color. All shirts and pants hung, sweaters folded.
They're both lovely people and they deserve a ordered and pleasing area to start their day - well done the space looks very nice.

Just did a nice session like this with one guy friend this morning, was great fun. Clothes go to textile reuse, and he a happy closet to go every morning. ‘How did I deserve all this?’ Sounded his greatful sigh. :) ❤

that closet is like as big as my teenage room i used to live in, when i was still living with my parents. Its crazy how much stuff people can keep in a space and then not use it, or like not use that space properly. Always feels really freeing, decluttering and organising things.

I think you can really feel the difference when people are ready to declutter. I'm convinced in big moments of life course changes (like starting a new company and going back to work) people reevaluate and ajust their belongings for the new future. I think I'm trying to say that life change inspires the want to change your environment at home. And I'm sure there are moments in a persons life where they are just unable to let go or start the process of decluttering. Timing may sometimes be everything.

Great job! Before decluttering at your friends closets ask them to buy 100-150 of the same hangers! There were possible hang the cloths in a color range. It looks much better and you find more easy the desired shirt or whatsoever.
