Also, a gentle reminder for those who live in truly northern places. Keeping yourself warm, dry and comfortable comes first! These videos are inspiring and a pleasure to watch, but let's not try and fool ourselves about our living situation (I've previously done that and it wasn't pretty🤗). If you need snow boots or raincoats and wellies, get them! Style and beauty be dammed!😁😁

True. I’ve had to consider that even though Audrey’s outfits are beautiful, I could not wear some of them where I live, especially those heels in midfall...it will be snowing here within a couple of weeks!

It's true but you can still be cute and colorful all bundled up. I've been really working on my winter style the last few years and have a lot fun with layering a wool cocoon coat over denim jacket, leather or a vest. Colorful blanket scarves and beanies. Waterproof heeled boots with a lug sole are great. This year I'm experimenting with bright orange nail polish and sunglasses with colored lenses because it does get depressing wearing dark monochromatic looks the whole long winter.

@@sononi4798 I agree with that. I love my patterned scarves and I try to match my scarves to my beanies. I also got my winter jacket in a dark purple, because I love purple and if I have to wear something everyday it needs to be in my favourite colour!

@@sononi4798 absolutely! Color is our best friend, because we lose the different designs and cuts, because we wrap all our skin in layers and layers of clothes. Also, yes to bright colorful nail polish - I refuse to make it just for the summer thing😁

I agree, it gets pretty cold and dirty here in New England in the Winter and early Spring, too. I just went to TJ Max and bought a white colored short puffer Parker, just to brighten up things beyond black/navy. We'll see how that goes this winter. The woman at the register said, You must be very neat to buy white for the Winter. That made me laugh.

Agreed. Fall lasted about 5 minutes (hyperbole) in Northwestern Ontario. Not just sub-zero temperatures but sleet/snow/ice and wind conditions would be helpful. Dressing like fall with winter conditions is a unicorn moment when achieved lol.

I grew up in Spain and no one sends their knitwear to the dry cleaners. We always washed our sweaters at home. Besides being more economical, washing at home makes your knitwear feel softer and smell so much better.

I live in the USA. I used to avoid any fashion item that had the care instruction ‘Dry Clean Only’ simply because I could not afford the charges. I realized I could hand wash in a mild cleaning agent (usually Woolite), with wonderful results, while also being far less expensive. I have a difficult time with the ‘dry cleaning’ chemical odor. While I hand launder most items, and also use the ‘delicates’ cycles on my Electrolux washer & dryer, there are a few that must be dry cleaned, such as tailored blazers, coats, and slacks. When I bring these items home from being dry cleaned, I hang them outside, or in a well-ventilated room, before placing them in my closet.

Underwear should be washed at 60 degrees, but I haven't really done that myself either since it's more convenient to wash them with other clothes. But you should wash them in higher temperature, I need to start doing that.

I have been looking at the French dressing options. You dress very much in the French style. These are very fundamental pieces with just a little bit of oomph, a sweater with special patterns in it, a shirt with some buttons or lace in it, a beautiful pattern of top or dress, There is something that makes the piece unusual and not plane. Simple boots or ballet slippers or a simple heel and lots of blazers and a little special accessory that completes the outfit. It's a simple look that looks easy but is well thought out and put together. They tuck their sweaters into their pants or skirts which is something I had not considered. Even wearing the buttons in the back is a trick the French girls do. It's playing into your own personal style and wearing what you enjoy. I love your beautiful colorful coat and your boots. I love you in light colors. It reminds me of the video that you had your body typing done where the stylist put you into light colors. That's you!

Very useful. Keep things looking brand new season after season year after year. I feel that garments were made very well during my Grandmothers and Mother’s time... sweaters and shawls still look and feel lovely.. and now I feel men’s department items are still much better made than women’s.

    • @snehatitus8994
      @snehatitus8994 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

And its not just women’s clothing... if we want quality items we have to either wait for sales without many options of sizing left or pay through the nose to buy any item. Its the same for footwear, handbags and accessories. Clarks were the shoes my Dad would buy for daily shoes. That aas when Clarks were still made in England. Excellent craftmanship. They would last him years and he would wear them all days through the year. Now its made elsewhere at literally the same cost thate we are paying and does not even last a year.

Early on I have washed my clothes myself, I even go further I washed my cashmere sweaters, even dress pants and blazers in cold water, quick cycle in my washing machine!!! I so appreciate and respect your aesthetic and ethics, Audrey. Your approach really resonates with me (and several thousands of others, obviously). Your point about the boots especially got my attention and I wonder if you might offer some more guidance there. While I appreciate the durability and beauty of leather, I choose to not purchase it for personal reasons. My experience with nonleather shoes and boots has been pretty disappointing. After a single year, the faux leather boots are still functional, but the faux leather material looks really shabby (as opposed to just worn in, which I rather adore). Do you have any suggestions on how to go about purchasing nonleather boots that will live up to the standards you described in the video?

I know you are petite, so am I and I love the shorter pant length on you but it doesn’t seem to work on me. I just keep seeing “high waters”. I know you talked about the angle you shoot your videos to make you look taller. How does that work in real life. I sure want to try it to show more shoe/bootie. I am so obsessed with those lace up beige colored booties. Love love them.

I would look into kibbe body typing or other ying Yang typing systems. I just did a whole video on it and basically you can be the same height as me but not suit the same things due to our different body angles etc. For me, being a gamine or ingenue, cropped pants and shrunken tops work on me in real life but they may not for everyone ❤️

Haha this made my day! ❤️😂 also check aly arts videos because she has playlists dedicated to every type in kibbe and gives quick run downs of pants, shirts, dresses etc for each and I find them so helpful 🤗

So true about quality footwear. I had a pair of Chelsea boots with a rubber sole that wore through on the heel. On a lark (I didn’t think that type of sole could be replaced) I asked my local shoe repair shop about it and was able to complete the repair for $28. And I’m thrilled because the boots are so comfortable.

Hello, Audrey! Wow and wow again! It seems like you have the classics down pat, and are now adding in extra imaginative elements to really punch up the fun and beauty! The blouses are all exquisite. That red coat is stunning. The champagne midi and light colored tops combinations just beautiful. I love the ponytail on you, and the freed up curls! Must go back and view all over again.

I live vicariously through you on nice shoes. I stick to hiking boots for daily shoes because they are so comfortable for all day walking/work and the good grip on the bottom means clumsy me isn't breaking bones so often.

Hi Audrey, I love that you speak about an *approach* to dressing, and not specific, rigid actual 'rules' (as you explain). I also love that on your channel, a title like this is not a cover for an ad video - but conversely, your detailed suggestions in the comments are so, so helpful. Thank you for your channel (which I must admit to binge-watching a little bit since I found it!).

Wonderful tips as always Audrey! I especially love the last one...trust your instincts. It's so easy to get wrapped up in what we should be wearing instead of discovering what we love to wear. You communicated this point beautifully!
