He changed his mind and did not rape the girl. But in the last murder both are shown trying to kill the victim. The question is what was the motive. Were they just a serial killer couple or had some other motivations.

The sheriff said, "Surely, people look different when dead", and suggested that the criminal wasn't a local, most importantly crept around Grace in the same place where they suspected the kidnapping happened, but the chief was the criminal because he used too much butter?
