I LOVED THIS SCENE.
It was just so perfect. I mean, whether or not this was a plan in which Lisbon was actually involved doesn't matter. Jane was fake crying over his dad. And the bank robberies xD.
And the last moment. It was just... ugh.
Oh, and yes, the moment in which Lisbon literally begs for Jane to talk and only then will he give in. I don't care if that was all thought through by them. It was adorable.

Is anyone else on here gonna bring up the fact that Jane's goofy childhood recollection was most likely a repackaged truth?
Jane's father *did* teach him to steal, and essentially threatened abandonment if Jane didn't agree to escalate the type of theft he was good at, i.e. chicanery. I doubt Jane ever robbed houses or banks, but the pickpocketing may very well have been true, and the escalation to appease a parent certainly was. I think his conning started as an attempt to connect with the outside world he felt cut off from--to give joy and catharsis, to be admired--and his father made it worse by anchoring it to Patrick's sense of survival.
Jane hid the truth inside a lie, and sold it as the truth. That is quite the feat of recycling.
He said before, the trick to a con is one big lie, and then keep everything else the same.
He definitely pickpocketed before, there's pretty good evidence in the show.
@@meaganmccabe5856 he definitely can/has, but in regards to who taught him and how/why he started in the first place I'm not sure. But it wouldn't surprise me if that was his dad's fault, and for his own benefit.
@@tabithaprovan957 I'm pretty positive his dad taught him mainly for their whole carnival act as the psychic boy wonder, and stealing stuff was probably another reason as Alex(Jane's father) was said to be a wicked con-man as seem by roping Jane into tricking a dying girl and her grandmother out of a lot of money and getting majorly upset when Jane refused.
He does it quite a bit. Especially when someone tries to get under his skin by "calling out" his depression or assholery, or when they poke the soft spot of his wife and child. He will always brush it off, acknowledge their attempt to their face, or play into the expected insult/sadness they want until he maneuvers them right where he wants them. Not only are the best lies partially truth, but he exposes his weak spots before you can, thus taking your power

At 2:52 I can see a slight shift in her eyes where she realises this is all a con. I love how she could always see through him when he put on the emotional acts.

You take what you don't have or you enjoy the rush of doing something you are not supposed to. The poor steal because they want something... the better off (rich) steal because they think they can get away with it, but it also gives a rush. The rich also don't normally steal anything that they couldn't pay back if they do get caught so it is "safe" crime for them.
Look at the Sacklers and the Bushes and Bezos and all that. The richer you are the more you steal.
