      25 years here, thing is you have to relearn photoshop all the time since its features are pretty different from what they were a decade ago.

      @@adilator Same here. I think it really depends as well on what you do. I was a commercial illustrator so I never used filters and plug ins. It just wasn't what the clients wanted, it was all product stuff, super clean, no textures, no gimmicks.

    I still use what I learned from this tutorial, but I've figured out a couple of things:
    If you make your own collages, it can add some depth if you barely glue the pieces down so they curl and cast little shadows.
    I usually add a highlight adjust layer above the levels layer. I set it to overlay, and brush over areas I want to pop with a large soft brush set at a very low opacity. I use a white or black brush, depending on what I'm trying to make stand out. White's pretty common on the eyes.

    What awesome effect--the the texture layer mapping and the ability to adjust the cutout shape sizes with the levels layer makes this effect so versatile. The collage textures are really awesome but you can always do different scribble textures, or water color or even hair patterns and get crazy cool stuff. I love this!!!

    I've used an effect like this one some years ago and did a lot of images like these of yours and also the double exposure trick.
    I recently found your video and retake the idea on making these again, I use a lot BLEND IF in my day to day work.
    Your layer with the oleo filter is genius!, that's what mine needed, thank you so much for the video, I'm using your textures as well, thank you so much for that too!!!
