Super awesome video thank you so much for sharing. I just bought a 1998 Honda Trx 450 ES and the red light comes on after few minutes after I start the engine. I don’t wasn’t to blow my engine I love this machine
Wow in less than 2 mins I helped me understand EXACTLY what I gotta do.and you’re far from dumb bro.I say the same shit about myself still at 40.called myself an idiot for buying a wheeler w issues for $1,200
It nice that you kept it simple but was hard to focus because the camera was so shakey..thank you though. I'm having the oil temp issue on my son's quad right now
The ATV system supplies power to the fan, the only thing that turns the fan on and off is the bimetallic strip in the temp probe that when heated closes the curcuit to ground allowing fan to work.
I have 02 and if I give power to blue wire my fan turns on but I don’t gotta ground anything to get it to power on but if I got up to fan wire and give fan power it don’t kick on so its opposite of what your saying.
So if i am following...when i run the jumper to by-pass the temp sensor and the fan turns on, then it is the temp sensor? If it does not turn on, it could still be the temp sensor but I should then test the fan control switch? Should i test the fan control switch with the jumper on or put the original wires back together? In your opinion, if my temp sensor light never comes on, even when it is really hot, would that indicate the temp sensor has failed? (I have a 2007 Honda 400 Fourtrax Rancher)
The thermosensor just needs ground, no power. You don't even have to unplug it, just slip the rubber connector cover back and alligator clip to ground, turn on the key. If no fan still, try wiggling the connectors at the control box before replacing
Make sure the ground wire coming from the fan is grounded, and take the positive wire from the fan connect it to a toggle switch then run a hot wire from the battery to the toggle switch.
@@terrybartruff9460 The color does not mater but you said " connect it to the battery to get power" then you said "connect the other jumper to ground to complete the circuit". If one jumper is on the battery positive and then you clip another lead on to it and connect its other end to ground, you are going to melt the wire lead. I dont know, but just guessing, the temp switch probably closes the ground side of the circuit when it reaches temp. So, if the blue wire is the ground side, connecting the blue wire alone to ground should energize the fan if the rest of the circuit is good, that is if the blue wire is the ground wire going to the switch.
Thank you for breaking that down. This was really helpful. I think I watched the other guys video and I’m glad I watched yours too.

It seems you just said to connect the blue wire to battery +12v and then to ground - shorting the battery to ground. Not good!

I’m not understanding putting power to that wire and grounding it, do I put hot power to the blue wire ?
Great content, keep it simple, keep it running!

You are NOT dumb buddy!! You understand other things better than you understand this kinda stuff. Everyone doesn't know everything about everything.

I ran my fan to a toggle switch so I can always keep the quad running cool
One more,do I have to put a fuse in line on any of these closed circuits u showed us?
I appreciate this man I just got one and am gonna have to do it myself so good job
which direction is the fan supposed to spin
My fan stays on when I turn the key on even if it's been sitting
hey, have you found anywhere that has parts for this bike? can’t find them anywhere
I'm in the same boat. I got a seat cover and a fan off of ebay. If you have any luck, please share.
All you had to do is ground the sensor wire if it comes on your temp switch is good. Your telling people to short the battery positive to ground.
Hey guy, Would u mind too much making a re-do on that vid? Not very clear. For me anyway. More confused now.
How would I make a switch to manualy turn it on mine doesent turn on either

People don’t do what he says he is incorrect do not run a wire to the battery positive and to ground, that’s bad.
You can't hook it up the way you're saying I just tried and about burn my thumb off when I touch the ground
The fan should kick n when the motor gets to a certain temp
How do you take fan off

You ran the black wire to the battery and the red wire to ground! You will shorted out the battery by doing this!
The color of the wire doesn’t matter when it’s just a jumper wire.
