I'm not disappointed in Jin Young, he was never the smooth and calculating type. For him to tell Seulki anything other than his honest unsure thoughts in that situation would be against his nature. He has been genuine and not calculative through the whole show, so even saying his thoughts in a more refined way would not be his true self. I can relate a lot to Jin Young's personality. Honesty > self-interest.

For Jin Young to say that he cannot "support" a girl friend who is a student as his job is not stable and he is busy taking care of himself. This is already very calculative!!!! I am sure he doesn't think about marriage at this point. He is talking about who is going to pay the bills during dating...etc. This is extremely calculative, obviously!!! He is basically telling Sueki she has to pay half of the bills if they go out for dates. He comes off very self-centered and calculative. JY was trying to manipulate Sueki's feelings until the end. That's why he told Mi su to catch up after leaving inferno, stood next to Nadine for so long to cause confusion. He is a playboy until the end. He doesn't deserve Sueki at all.
Jason’s analysis is so on point. I agree with him 100%. A lot of people talk about what JY should have done (or not done) to earn Seulki’s heart, but at the end of the day, they were just not meant to be, at least not in that show. Seulki made a right choice for herself and everyone. I like her for that, and Jinyoung for being the person that he is.

I think JinYoungs date with Nadine definitely sparked his thoughts of the future. He had to definitely think while he was assessing Nadine’s situation, how both the women he was interested in are both still students. I think you are definitely right. From Seul-Kis’s perspective, though, he looked unsure. A guy saying “I don’t think I can take care of my girlfriend and I’m not stable yet so I’m torn” isn’t quite what you want to hear when you’re making up your mind about him
During his date with Nadine, you can pretty much see JY shut down in thought. He then said she made him rethink what he really wanted in a relationship. It gave him a reality check and he just didn't explain it well to Seul-Ki.

I think JY thought a lot about it. He and Seul Ki live in two different worlds. He loves the mud, the challenges. He hates branded stuff and does his best to stay away from luxury. While Seul Ki lived in luxury all her life. It would be hard to even start a relationship with her. STATUS in Korea also matters a lot. If you don't want to get hurt, just avoid getting into situations that would hurt you. Another thing is Seul Ki is still a student, as JY thought. She and Nadine still has a lot to do and accomplish. As for him, he still needs to work on his career so he can have a stable life. AT the end of the day, they were all there for fame and not to really get into a relationship. So let's stop judging them as if we are better than them. Because honestly, most of us messed up way worse than they did in our life.
It’s so funny that it was Jinyoung who said ‘his date with Seulki or her in general is impactful but if small things pile up together it could be even more impactful’ but it was Seulki who did just that while Jinyoung stick w/ the 1st impact. Her date w/ Jinyoung was impactful but the small things Jongwoo did for her pile up together and it eventually become more impactful to the point she chooses him. Really ironic!

One of the best reaction videos of SI2 that i had watched! Comments were on point. I really thought that Jongwoo will take the big L award for this season & I am sobbing with him from ep1 to 7 every time he gets rejected... but this guy's effort to win over Seulki without putting so much pressure on her & giving her space really made him victorious at the end which everyone can relate into.. even the co-cast members are rooting for him! While Seulki who clearly knows her worth and had seen the signs! I am rooting for them... and i totally agree with Jason when he said "Love is Fate" 🥹❤️
This is one of the only videos about the ending where they actually try and rationalise JY thoughts and where they came from which I really liked. Also another note is that he literally spent 3 nights in Paradise back to back where not only doubts grew and festered in him more so after the date with Nadine but within Seul Ki. And the way he fumbled with his words, didn’t pick up she didn’t really care about that and the fact that he is too honest and blunt I think this plus his stunt with Nadine at the end just made her want to pick JW among other things
I think Jinuong self sabotaged on purpose. I think he knew that Seulki was looking for that stable type of relationship, and he was making excuses to deter her from choosing him.
I think Jason’s spot-on with how JY basically became really self-conscious about his career and self-worth in a relationship *after* his date with Nadine. I keep thinking about how during his date with Nadine, JY said something to the effect of like wow Nadine you really have a set career path for yourself and you have med school up ahead and things are figured out for YOU. I think he kept then thinking the next day how *realistically* a relationship with SK would work. She’s studying piano. Granted, at Seoul University but what’s next? Is she going to be looking for an oppa to take care of her? When he’s still figuring things out himself? I also think he had great chemistry with Nadine but the fact that’s she’s a pre-med student studying abroad was a hard no for him. The positive is that one date seems to have really made him do some deep introspection on who he is and what kind of relationship he wants!
I really think that Nadine meant to be with him, if he can break his standard (ideal type) for her. They have things in common and he can clearly know what he should expect in real relationship after talk to Nadine once. They can fulfil eachother.
During their paradise stay he already admitted to Nadine saying that he never thought he would be drawn to someone that is not his ideal type. To me it’s an indirect confession already. He asked many questions trying to foresee the possibilities of their relationship. But too bad Nadine is the type to take it slowly and unable to reassure him that she’s into him as well at that particular moment. And I think she’s more to curious about him only during that time. Too late for them to open up themselves and too quick they need to make the final decision. Perhaps JY deep down knowing that Seulgi might not be the right person for him too. He rushed to talk to Seulgi the next day and sought for her answers on what she sees in him but she failed to give a solid answer. I think that’s why JY as an ISTP couldn’t make up his mind because of that too. If u based on final day confession, he had chosen Seulgi but gave a vague confession ‘I think I like you’. He told Nadine he will always support her until her dream comes true. It’s like the answer to Nadine’s statement in Paradise night that she believes that she would found someone who will support her dream. Well… 🤷♀️
What i observe about Jinyoung is someone who did not expect he would actually fall for someone in the show, I see a guy who came in the show for exposure, he tried to connect with everyone, spoke with all the girls, but at the end he always seeks Seulki, then he was greeted with a fact that he has a real rival and found himself concern about it which he did say himself, it bothered him whenever he sees her with Jongwoo. It surprise the panel that he was actually thinking of their future, but it sounded like a rejection to her. Here is the thing though they are in the show, it’s not like after this it means they HAVE to date or get married, for him to say he was still deciding is a clear rejection on her part or atleast she was seen as one her options and she did not want half sincerity, whatever his troubles it can be something they would worked out after the show.
and I observed his reactions and what he had to say after the show. Even after months he wasn't ready to watch the end. He said it in interviews more than once. It was a shock for him and I believe he had strong feelings for seulki from the beginning. And after she left with her new puppy he said, this guy won the game and took his love. But the main fault I give the directors who decided to have him paradise days one after the other. ( 3) He even came later to the show, so he and seulki had not much time together, no talking, no meeting nothing. If they had the opportunity to meet in paradise a 2. time the show had ended in an other way.
I loved your analysis. It was pretty realistically rational of what happened. And I also believe it wasn't meant to be, how things happened and the moments to happen, not even the best Kdrama screenwriter could write as well and excitingly as it was.
Same thing happened with Jin-young in Love and Joy (another Korean dating show). He was initially Mr Popular but the girl he liked didn’t pick him. You should watch it too guys, a lot of similarities in Single’s Inferno.
I love that show! It's more natural + less drama than Single's Inferno 2. After watching these two reality dating shows, I can sum up that Jin Young tends to fall for the prettiest lady in each show hehehe~ Both happen to have big, beautiful eyes hehehe~ So, I'm not surprised when he chose Seul Gi at the end of Single's Inferno 2 (despite the fact that they couldn't communicate much beyond physical/sexual attraction).
I watched that prior to SI2 & Jinyoung made the same mistake, he was not that good in expressing his true intention which made both girls (Seulki & girl from love+joy) confused and ended up choosing another guy...
The pivotal moment is the beginning of ep 10. JY told everyone that he needed to go talk to SG first. When they had the talk after taking water, JY kept asking SG what she was looking for in a potential partner. JY was looking for more of the emotional connection. So far SG has been saying JY is cool, he’s on her mind. But not other qualities. While JW has been so attentive, taking care of her. JY has not been doing that. JY wanted to know that SG likes him more than his physical aspects. He didn’t get the assurance that he wanted from SG. JY ended up talking about his insecurities. He was conflicted because he was still searching for his identity after UDT. He was unsure of whether he could support her. He self sabotaged himself. Tbh, it was the best outcome for all of them. I think JY wouldn’t be who he is if he settled with a girl. His personality seems best alone. If he had a gf, he might not be so charming as he is.
In my opinion Jinyoung actually liked Seulki a lot however he was hesitant to show it and wasn't able to be vulnerable the way Jongwoo was. I don't think he had much of a romantic connection with any other member, even with Nadine he didn't seem to actually be romantically interested. He was trying to play it cool but he didn't realize that he also has to give her some sort of stability.

I think him going to Paradise basically 3 days in a row really hindered him and her because they barely interacted after there first paradise date as it due to people calling them and that only allowed doubts and worries to grow and set in which I think won in the end

You guys might be right about JinYoung, but for some reason I really think he knew himself and what he was doing very well! I feel like that was a conscious decision of his to act the way he did in the last episode. He seemed too sincere for the game. He was being honest in his life more than for the game. That's what got him I feel! The ending was not bad. It was nice spending time on this show!
I think that the reason Seulki didn’t choose Jinyoung despite being so attracted to him is that they’re not on the same page. She wants something else the atm kind of relationship whereas he’s thinking about future talking about the stability etc I also think they don’t have an emotional connection that she has with Jongwoo that she can opens up with JW, speaks comfortably and be more herself and he’s the type ideal type of guy she mentioned she wants early in the show she wants a kind guy, a good guy. Be real she’s attracted to Jinyoung but they barely had conversations with each other. So she weighs her options and probably think things will work out better with Jongwoo irl like they can date around without worry and JW just set on her .Also the same age factor probably plays a huge factor too Also her feelings for Jongwoo might not be as intense as hers for Jinyoung but she does adores him and never rejected him his advances unlike her and Dongwoo, in fact she welcomes and acknowledged his feelings
could you do the analyst abt the date of him and Nadine. I think Nadine is the type that would accept him the way he is and the situation he is in. And i think he’s somewhat attracted to Nadine actually. they are the type that can grow interest for each other in the long-term.
I got the feeling that his only attraction to Nadine was the fact that she lived in US... He was curious about that aspect of her life since he's thinking of moving to the US also... I didn't see any physical or emotional attraction from him towards Nadine during their date. Just a friendly conversation on his part... Nadine was the only one gushing over him. And honestly she would be too good for him. Her class & education would not fit his. Even Seulki was not a perfect match to him.. They couldn't even carry on a full conversation together... They just had a massive physical attraction to each other. Which was probably not gonna last for long.

But he said he was "curious" about her. As with Seulki he was clearly physically attracted / infatuated, since he could also see the effect he had on her compared to how she was with guys. He even pointed out at one point how she's all chatty with the other guys but not with him. At least he was mature enough not to lead anyone on. He was aloof with all of them ... I'm glad he was on the show. He made it more interesting. 😊

While everyone was sure that she would choose Yoong Jae, she proved how mature she is against the hate she received. And it was because she did what was best for her. Infact she didn't even choose Sejun as it was too sudden for her to get on with him especially after the good time she had the other day at paradise. So she chose her dear friend Hanbin to sort out her thoughts. Yoong Jae knows he led her on. He isn't wrong to choose someone he actually likes but what he did with Soe was wrong!
@@slee2695 Yoong Jae cant handle conflict it seems like. He should have clearly said I see you more as a friends, rather than a potential parter. He never did that, until the point of Soe had to reject herselft because he was unable to communicate his feelings. Look at how Seul-Ki told Dongwoo clearly she saw him more as a friend, and how JinYoung told Misu that he did not see a romantic partner. Thats how you draw a line.
I’d like to know why YJ suddenly joined forces with JinYoung to throw out Jong Woo. YJ was an automatic in to Paradise and the 2 guys were not going choose Soeun, so YJ had no skin in the game. Thought YJ would help Jong Woo if he collaborated with anyone. They were together on the island for longer. He really should have let the 2 guys battle it out themselves. YJ is a disappointment. Soeun deserves someone classier

I’m going to disagree with Jason’s analysis. As John mentioned, on the last date JY was completely out of character. If he really wanted a casual relationship, he could’ve sweet talked her to the end. Yet, he went from a smooth player to an insecure adolescent. Yes, it could be considered a fumble, but I believe it was a calculated move. Here’s why. Men like JY thrive in fictional settings like Singles Inferno, where people date purely based on physical attraction since your age, social status, and financial stability does not matter. JY, unlike the other male contestants, possesses a handsome bad boy look and a free spirit. He doesn’t cater to the girl’s needs to win her heart like JW or DW, but rather focuses on respecting her as an individual. Unfortunately, having spent his 20s in a hierarchical society such as the military, he is too sensitive to the world of power dynamics. He understands that he might be the alpha on the island, but once the show ends, he’s going to face reality where he will now have to compete with men who not only have looks, but also money and status. In fact, when dating SK, he’s going to have to fend off interested men who are high value. Not only that, I’m sure he was informed during his conversations with other contestants, that SK not only attends SNU, but is also from a very prestigious family background. Imagine the peer pressure he would face from society as a high school dropout with no stable career, especially in a superficial, highly competitive society such as Korea. He doesn’t have time or energy for the drama nor would he be able to spend a lot of time with a student who needs a lot of love and attention. As a late bloomer, he’s trying to make it out there. Yet, despite all this, JY musters up the courage to take a chance at love. On the surface, he might not appear so, but on the inside, he’s a hopeless romantic. I believe the last date was JY’s last attempt to confirm SK’s heart, and we can argue that he was not straightforward with his communication. He genuinely started having feelings for her, which led him to think farther into the future than focusing on the present. In their last conversation, prior to his “fumble”, he asks SK what her ideal man is. Though he realized he did not want to date a student per his Paradise date with Nadine, he was going to make an exception for SK, because he really liked her. Unfortunately, SK did not provide JY with a reassuring answer. It showed her immaturity, in that her view of a possible relationship was very superficial. She replied with “someone who has a nice eye smile and is always on my mind.” You can tell by JY’s face that he was not impressed by this answer and understood that SK was not ready to face the harsh reality and challenges that they would face as a couple when they return to society. This is a very crucial moment in SF because for the first time, viewers are able to see the shift in power dynamics. Throughout the show, we see SK chase JY, while JY remains ambiguous. However, in this scene, JY displays seriousness and we could see that internally JY likes SK more. As so, I believe he intentionally replies with uncertainty as a preface to explain his current financial situation, which I thought was extremely mature of him and one of his rare moments of absolute vulnerability and total transparency. Given his age and experience, he understands that a relationship cannot be founded on puppy love. His honest explanation of his unstable career and finances was basically him giving SK his unabridged resume. What JY wanted after this tell-all was for SK to reaffirm her interest in him. A simple, “That’s okay, come as you are” would have done. Interestingly, it is JY who needs reassurance this time, not SK. Instead, she replies very passive aggressively with “Don’t think too much, do what your heart says. I’m upset at you.” SK, due to her age (23) and most likely her past dating experience, misinterpreted his language as a sign of rejection. You could tell that SK felt humiliated and was upset because she thought JY played her the whole series and that JY looked down on her for being a student. Since the female contestants have to choose their final choice one day before D-Day for camera production purposes, she decides to choose Jongwoo who she was certain would choose her. She couldn’t risk another rejection for her own public image. This season really displays the harsh reality of people trying to date outside their “socioeconomic status” as well as the challenges of dating someone with a wide age gap.
Oh my God! This is on point! Guys might really think that "Dude that's not how you do it." but for me I really admire his honesty. Yes it might be too early to think for the future but that's the REALITY. I would pick a guy who would be brave enough to tell me what he has to offer than a guy who would only show me what I want to see. But I have nothing against Jong woo and Seulki. 😊
Completely agree. How could he sustain the relationship if she just liked him because he was cool? More tug-o-wars and mud wrestles? He was looking for something more and was a little sick of hearing he’s cool. I also agree about the part where his personality was the best on dating shows. Should he settled down with a girl, he would lose his charismatic self. He was suited for being carefree and single. That’s his charm. Also why he emphasises that he is looking for an independent girl who realises that he loves being carefree. He needs his partner to understand that he might not be the 100% always attentive and taking care of her kind of guy.
TOTALLY AGREE! Only people who are mature enough with experience will understand him. Both had feeling for each other but timing was off. They needed to understand each other deeply for them to grow more .

Yeah I think Seulki do likeJongwoo in sense that it’s the little things he did and how he paid attention to her genuinely interested in her and her well being. I felt that she didn’t have that connection with Jinyoung on emotional level and it’s more on physical attraction. When Jinyoung asked her what she likes about him she can’t answer him. She choose someone that she thinks the relationship can grow outside of Inferno, smart girl

Like I said in your last review I said I like a guy who doesn’t play games and doesn’t keep me guessing because I couldn’t trust him…I guess Seulki felt the same way! I do think she’s more physically and mentally attracted to JinYoung but Jong Woo was a safer choice and he was confident in his feelings and didn’t mince words. JinYoung, imo, liked to play games and stay in power keeping Seulki intrigued and wanting more. I felt like he was too arrogant knowing all these women were vying for his attention and affection so he was too cocky.

It's not entirely fate. She gave JY an opportunity and what he said gave her a decision. She was deadsight on him but JY seems like he wanted to know for sure if you only like me cause of my looks or this chemistry. Totally agree with you. People think that only Seulki was disapointed of their conversation but JY was also. The point is in Paradise with Nadine they talk a lot and he founds that they have so much in commun. When he return in inferno he wanted to know if he can also have fun with Seulki beside their physical attraction but she failed bc she gives him a superficial answer at what she like about him. I think he understand that Seulki is attracted to his cool side and physique not to his inside personality it's why he give up by to be honest about his life.
@@semifoever not entirely fate when the chances are 50/50. She was 70/30 JY side. She didn't get the answer she wanted from JY so it became 40/60 Jong Woo. She stated she was upset with JY on the walk back and she wouldn't tell him. Miscommunication is a death to any situation.

@@semifoever Other than attraction, they had great banter and they are both playful with each other. Both their conversations were somewhat guarded. JY is very protective of his emotions. Even when Seulki was very flirtatious with him, he never really reciprocated back but you can tell he was fallin' for it slowly. We know that Seulki is only acting like that towards him because we are the viewer but as a contestant, you wouldn't know who else she's flirtatious to. It's a dating show and if I was a contestant, I would be wary on who's trying to lead me on with false hope like what Dong Woo(doctor) did with Nadine and what Yong Jae did with So-e and Se Jeong. It's true with what the host said about being young and just going full forward with the one you like without thinking about anything else. Once you get older and have more experience with a lot of heartache, we tend to be more protective. Seulki wanted an answer(which is very fair)...JY wanted something more concrete than superficial (which is also fair).

IMO, Seulki and Jinyoung were infatuated with each other. They are both attracted to what they see. Seulki was so eager to unravel Jinyoung's mysterious aura. She was so ready to overstep the boundaries on their first date in Paradise. That's infatuation in full display. Then later on Jinyoung gave her a reality check after going through a realization during his conversation with Nadine. He popped Seulki's fantasy. Also, seeing the big difference of JY and SK's personality and lifestyle, I don't think they will last. After Single's Inferno, I can see Jinyoung getting to know Nadine instead. They are at their discovery phase of their lives. And it seems, Nadine is so willing to be supportive while Jinyoung is willing to wait for her. And guess what, JY asked her mom what she thinks if he and Nadine pursues a LDR relationship. EDIT: Forgot to say Nadine's mom approves. And one more thing, even though Jinyoung didn't choose Nadine at the end, there's one thing that Jinyoung unconsciously did for Nadine that he didn't do for Seulki. That made me feel that he cares and respects Nadine. Two essential formula in building a healthy long relationship.
The difference vision of love, between Jin young and seulki makes that not happen, seulki just hopes to get a boyfriend who understands her, and is always loved and can have fun for now, but Jin young thinks about the future. He thinks dating is for the future and not just having fun today, and he knows very well that Seulki is not the type of tough woman who can accept a man as he is, because of that when he was asked by seulki he replied he had not decided yet. Seulki is still living for teenage love, while Jin Young looks to dating for the future. he sees girlfriends as part of the future and not just to have fun, while seulki just wants to be pampered and loved, so they just don't match

He even told Mi su they are going to hang out and keep in touch after inferno and stand next to Nadine for so long to cause confusion to everyone. To him, it's just a game. Hot take: I think the reason Seulki was turned of by JY in that talk was that he said that he didn't feel ready to take care of a girlfriend and himself with his career, implying that Seulki as a unstable student needed to be taken care of. Seulki is wealthy and a baddie and could take care of herself and her future man. If I were her, that would be a huge turn off for me.
Okay but it's not even about her wealth and being a 'baddie'. I know feminism is really big in America rn but most girls everywhere else are still more traditional and some are entirely traditional, especially in Eastern Europe and Asia. There's a crucial scene you missed where the girls are sitting in the tent talking and the gal that forced two dates with Jin Young talks about going swimming. If you look at Seulki's reaction that was a major issue. Remember she chose not to swim on her first date because in her mind it felt to intimate with a guy she definitely wasn't into. With Jin Young she was hesitating at first but then she chose to go in with a sexy two piece. Remember she had more than one suit packed and she chose the sexy one thinking about their date. The swimming scene was memorable to her and a time of her being gutsy so in her mind him swimming with the other gal lessened her view of him. Her outfit with Jung Woo is also telling--much more conservative and fully covered. Drfinitely no chemistry, but Jung Woo was a safe choice.
Emotional truth (can't be hidden forever), mixed with all these fake beauty standards, are just as hard to unveil as real-life feelings in a relationship! I'm sure jin young is to suelki their reactions, gestures from the entire show showed they cared for each other. JY asking for suelki in the beach, calling suelki while washing dishes, choosing suelki from others to have lunch, diched 3 women and brought suelki a drinks so they can talk, choosing suelki so they can talk from the last episode for their last date. From all of these scenario JY showed that he liked suelki from all other girls in the show.
Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the finale. Jason’s analysis of Jiyoung and Seulki’s conversation was really insightful, I didn’t think even consider how JY’s date with Nadine may have had an influence on that. I think JY was confident in the beginning because he didn’t think too much into things, but he fumbled on later on because he genuinely likes SK and thought far ahead. I feel like when ppl think of the future, they’re getting serious. I also didn’t think much about JW, but it was touching at the end. SK’s choice was a mature one and realistically one that most would probably make in that situation. You guys have a good grasp of the casts’ thoughts and emotions.
You guys didn’t mention how that new girl came on the show and took Jim Young to Paradise twice. This allowed Sooki to spend time with Jong Woo in Inferno. That girl stopped the momentum between Sooki and Jin Young.

I like J Bro's way of thinking, observations & individual opinions presented in this video. As usual, it was very enjoyable to watch. Given that Singles Inferno is a reality dating show, at the end of the day, it's still a tv show. In my opinion, I believe the showrunner has the full control to have the last say in which couples will connect by the end of the Season. So after my thorough observation & J Bro's dissection of SI2 finale, those things made me ponder if Singles Inferno does multiple endings with different couples being matched-up. As such, the final cut that will be chosen for the show's finale will depend on the viewers' favourites & most popular couples to leave the island together or remain single leaving alone. I believe, having multiple endings, is a programming method used to successfully capture the hearts of the viewers in order of getting a chance or way to gain stronger viewership and increase their ratings. So if the showrunner is successful in acquiring strong ratings, it can potentially help them capture the Network's attention for future Season(s). However, I could be completely wrong because the above is based solely on my opinion & observations -- not any factual evidence. But no matter what, I still liked & enjoyed watching both Seasons of Singles Inferno because it has the romance without the raunchiness.

Interesting and insightful analysis for the most part but I fundamentally disagree with you on why SK chose JW. SK was covered from head to toe in the pool because she had no romantic feelings for JW. SK revealed her cleavage to JY in the pool. After the paradise date with JW she then walked with JY back on inferno: 1 -she confessed her feelings to JY under the tepee 2 -she admitted she wants someone like JY in terms of personality 3- she admitted JY was always on her mind 4- she admitted she kept her eyes on JY during the men's pit fight. 5- she told JY that he was the only man who could lift the water buckets by himself 6 - she said had made her decision 7 - after all that JY then failed to commit to her. 8 - her face changed and she's clearly pissed off. 9 - on the walk back SK said she's upset at JY but wouldn't tell him why. 10 - when JY stopped by Nadine at the end SK is clearly shocked and disappointed. 11 - her decision at the end was big finger to JY for playing with her emotions rather then genuine attraction to JW. 12- interview at the end SK said she chose someone who liked her instead of someone that she liked. 13 - SK posted photos when she was in the US of her and guy with same side face profile as JY months after the show ended. It was taken down as Inferno aired. 14 - SK is still following JY on IG. It's so obvious SK heart is with JY rather than JW even at the end, she has admitted it so many times. If JY had simply said he will choose her on their last date under the tepee then SK picks him easily despite the simping from JW. I think SK will "stick" with JW until the inferno public hype is over and will dump her butler when she comes across the next JY type.

I'm not disappointed in Jin Young, he was never the smooth and calculating type. For him to tell Seulki anything other than his honest unsure thoughts in that situation would be against his nature. He has been genuine and not calculative through the whole show, so even saying his thoughts in a more refined way would not be his true self. I can relate a lot to Jin Young's personality. Honesty > self-interest.

Jason’s analysis is so on point. I agree with him 100%. A lot of people talk about what JY should have done (or not done) to earn Seulki’s heart, but at the end of the day, they were just not meant to be, at least not in that show. Seulki made a right choice for herself and everyone. I like her for that, and Jinyoung for being the person that he is.

I think JY thought a lot about it. He and Seul Ki live in two different worlds. He loves the mud, the challenges. He hates branded stuff and does his best to stay away from luxury. While Seul Ki lived in luxury all her life. It would be hard to even start a relationship with her. STATUS in Korea also matters a lot. If you don't want to get hurt, just avoid getting into situations that would hurt you. Another thing is Seul Ki is still a student, as JY thought. She and Nadine still has a lot to do and accomplish. As for him, he still needs to work on his career so he can have a stable life. AT the end of the day, they were all there for fame and not to really get into a relationship. So let's stop judging them as if we are better than them. Because honestly, most of us messed up way worse than they did in our life.

I really thought that Jongwoo will take the big L award for this season & I am sobbing with him from ep1 to 7 every time he gets rejected... but this guy's effort to win over Seulki without putting so much pressure on her & giving her space really made him victorious at the end which everyone can relate into.. even the co-cast members are rooting for him! While Seulki who clearly knows her worth and had seen the signs! I am rooting for them... and i totally agree with Jason when he said "Love is Fate" 🥹❤️

This is one of the only videos about the ending where they actually try and rationalise JY thoughts and where they came from which I really liked. Also another note is that he literally spent 3 nights in Paradise back to back where not only doubts grew and festered in him more so after the date with Nadine but within Seul Ki. And the way he fumbled with his words, didn’t pick up she didn’t really care about that and the fact that he is too honest and blunt I think this plus his stunt with Nadine at the end just made her want to pick JW among other things
I think Jinuong self sabotaged on purpose. I think he knew that Seulki was looking for that stable type of relationship, and he was making excuses to deter her from choosing him.

I think Jason’s spot-on with how JY basically became really self-conscious about his career and self-worth in a relationship *after* his date with Nadine. I keep thinking about how during his date with Nadine, JY said something to the effect of like wow Nadine you really have a set career path for yourself and you have med school up ahead and things are figured out for YOU. I think he kept then thinking the next day how *realistically* a relationship with SK would work. She’s studying piano. Granted, at Seoul University but what’s next? Is she going to be looking for an oppa to take care of her? When he’s still figuring things out himself? I also think he had great chemistry with Nadine but the fact that’s she’s a pre-med student studying abroad was a hard no for him. The positive is that one date seems to have really made him do some deep introspection on who he is and what kind of relationship he wants!
I really think that Nadine meant to be with him, if he can break his standard (ideal type) for her. They have things in common and he can clearly know what he should expect in real relationship after talk to Nadine once. They can fulfil eachother.
During their paradise stay he already admitted to Nadine saying that he never thought he would be drawn to someone that is not his ideal type. To me it’s an indirect confession already. He asked many questions trying to foresee the possibilities of their relationship.
But too bad Nadine is the type to take it slowly and unable to reassure him that she’s into him as well at that particular moment. And I think she’s more to curious about him only during that time. Too late for them to open up themselves and too quick they need to make the final decision.
Perhaps JY deep down knowing that Seulgi might not be the right person for him too. He rushed to talk to Seulgi the next day and sought for her answers on what she sees in him but she failed to give a solid answer. I think that’s why JY as an ISTP couldn’t make up his mind because of that too.
If u based on final day confession, he had chosen Seulgi but gave a vague confession ‘I think I like you’. He told Nadine he will always support her until her dream comes true. It’s like the answer to Nadine’s statement in Paradise night that she believes that she would found someone who will support her dream. Well… 🤷♀️
What i observe about Jinyoung is someone who did not expect he would actually fall for someone in the show, I see a guy who came in the show for exposure, he tried to connect with everyone, spoke with all the girls, but at the end he always seeks Seulki, then he was greeted with a fact that he has a real rival and found himself concern about it which he did say himself, it bothered him whenever he sees her with Jongwoo. It surprise the panel that he was actually thinking of their future, but it sounded like a rejection to her. Here is the thing though they are in the show, it’s not like after this it means they HAVE to date or get married, for him to say he was still deciding is a clear rejection on her part or atleast she was seen as one her options and she did not want half sincerity, whatever his troubles it can be something they would worked out after the show.

and I observed his reactions and what he had to say after the show. Even after months he wasn't ready to watch the end. He said it in interviews more than once. It was a shock for him and I believe he had strong feelings for seulki from the beginning. And after she left with her new puppy he said, this guy won the game and took his love. But the main fault I give the directors who decided to have him paradise days one after the other. ( 3) He even came later to the show, so he and seulki had not much time together, no talking, no meeting nothing. If they had the opportunity to meet in paradise a 2. time the show had ended in an other way.

I loved your analysis. It was pretty realistically rational of what happened. And I also believe it wasn't meant to be, how things happened and the moments to happen, not even the best Kdrama screenwriter could write as well and excitingly as it was.
Same thing happened with Jin-young in Love and Joy (another Korean dating show). He was initially Mr Popular but the girl he liked didn’t pick him. You should watch it too guys, a lot of similarities in Single’s Inferno.
I love that show! It's more natural + less drama than Single's Inferno 2. After watching these two reality dating shows, I can sum up that Jin Young tends to fall for the prettiest lady in each show hehehe~ Both happen to have big, beautiful eyes hehehe~ So, I'm not surprised when he chose Seul Gi at the end of Single's Inferno 2 (despite the fact that they couldn't communicate much beyond physical/sexual attraction).
I watched that prior to SI2 & Jinyoung made the same mistake, he was not that good in expressing his true intention which made both girls (Seulki & girl from love+joy) confused and ended up choosing another guy...
The pivotal moment is the beginning of ep 10. JY told everyone that he needed to go talk to SG first. When they had the talk after taking water, JY kept asking SG what she was looking for in a potential partner. JY was looking for more of the emotional connection. So far SG has been saying JY is cool, he’s on her mind. But not other qualities. While JW has been so attentive, taking care of her. JY has not been doing that. JY wanted to know that SG likes him more than his physical aspects.
He didn’t get the assurance that he wanted from SG. JY ended up talking about his insecurities. He was conflicted because he was still searching for his identity after UDT. He was unsure of whether he could support her. He self sabotaged himself.
Tbh, it was the best outcome for all of them. I think JY wouldn’t be who he is if he settled with a girl. His personality seems best alone. If he had a gf, he might not be so charming as he is.
In my opinion Jinyoung actually liked Seulki a lot however he was hesitant to show it and wasn't able to be vulnerable the way Jongwoo was. I don't think he had much of a romantic connection with any other member, even with Nadine he didn't seem to actually be romantically interested. He was trying to play it cool but he didn't realize that he also has to give her some sort of stability.

I got the feeling that his only attraction to Nadine was the fact that she lived in US... He was curious about that aspect of her life since he's thinking of moving to the US also... I didn't see any physical or emotional attraction from him towards Nadine during their date. Just a friendly conversation on his part... Nadine was the only one gushing over him. And honestly she would be too good for him. Her class & education would not fit his. Even Seulki was not a perfect match to him.. They couldn't even carry on a full conversation together... They just had a massive physical attraction to each other. Which was probably not gonna last for long.

He even pointed out at one point how she's all chatty with the other guys but not with him. At least he was mature enough not to lead anyone on. He was aloof with all of them ... So she chose her dear friend Hanbin to sort out her thoughts. Yoong Jae knows he led her on. He isn't wrong to choose someone he actually likes but what he did with Soe was wrong!

He never did that, until the point of Soe had to reject herselft because he was unable to communicate his feelings. I’d like to know why YJ suddenly joined forces with JinYoung to throw out Jong Woo. YJ was an automatic in to Paradise and the 2 guys were not going choose Soeun, so YJ had no skin in the game. I’m going to disagree with Jason’s analysis. As John mentioned, on the last date JY was completely out of character. If he really wanted a casual relationship, he could’ve sweet talked her to the end. Yet, he went from a smooth player to an insecure adolescent. Yes, it could be considered a fumble, but I believe it was a calculated move. Here’s why. Men like JY thrive in fictional settings like Singles Inferno, where people date purely based on physical attraction since your age, social status, and financial stability does not matter. JY, unlike the other male contestants, possesses a handsome bad boy look and a free spirit. He doesn’t cater to the girl’s needs to win her heart like JW or DW, but rather focuses on respecting her as an individual. Unfortunately, having spent his 20s in a hierarchical society such as the military, he is too sensitive to the world of power dynamics. He understands that he might be the alpha on the island, but once the show ends, he’s going to face reality where he will now have to compete with men who not only have looks, but also money and status. In fact, when dating SK, he’s going to have to fend off interested men who are high value. Not only that, I’m sure he was informed during his conversations with other contestants, that SK not only attends SNU, but is also from a very prestigious family background. Imagine the peer pressure he would face from society as a high school dropout with no stable career, especially in a superficial, highly competitive society such as Korea. He doesn’t have time or energy for the drama nor would he be able to spend a lot of time with a student who needs a lot of love and attention. As a late bloomer, he’s trying to make it out there. Yet, despite all this, JY musters up the courage to take a chance at love. On the surface, he might not appear so, but on the inside, he’s a hopeless romantic. I believe the last date was JY’s last attempt to confirm SK’s heart, and we can argue that he was not straightforward with his communication. He genuinely started having feelings for her, which led him to think farther into the future than focusing on the present. In their last conversation, prior to his “fumble”, he asks SK what her ideal man is. Though he realized he did not want to date a student per his Paradise date with Nadine, he was going to make an exception for SK, because he really liked her. Unfortunately, SK did not provide JY with a reassuring answer. It showed her immaturity, in that her view of a possible relationship was very superficial. She replied with “someone who has a nice eye smile and is always on my mind.” You can tell by JY’s face that he was not impressed by this answer and understood that SK was not ready to face the harsh reality and challenges that they would face as a couple when they return to society. This is a very crucial moment in SF because for the first time, viewers are able to see the shift in power dynamics. Throughout the show, we see SK chase JY, while JY remains ambiguous. However, in this scene, JY displays seriousness and we could see that internally JY likes SK more. As so, I believe he intentionally replies with uncertainty as a preface to explain his current financial situation, which I thought was extremely mature of him and one of his rare moments of absolute vulnerability and total transparency. Given his age and experience, he understands that a relationship cannot be founded on puppy love. His honest explanation of his unstable career and finances was basically him giving SK his unabridged resume. What JY wanted after this tell-all was for SK to reaffirm her interest in him. A simple, “That’s okay, come as you are” would have done. Interestingly, it is JY who needs reassurance this time, not SK. Instead, she replies very passive aggressively with “Don’t think too much, do what your heart says. I’m upset at you.” SK, due to her age (23) and most likely her past dating experience, misinterpreted his language as a sign of rejection. You could tell that SK felt humiliated and was upset because she thought JY played her the whole series and that JY looked down on her for being a student. Since the female contestants have to choose their final choice one day before D-Day for camera production purposes, she decides to choose Jongwoo who she was certain would choose her. She couldn’t risk another rejection for her own public image. This season really displays the harsh reality of people trying to date outside their “socioeconomic status” as well as the challenges of dating someone with a wide age gap.
Oh my God! This is on point! Guys might really think that "Dude that's not how you do it." but for me I really admire his honesty. Yes it might be too early to think for the future but that's the REALITY. I would pick a guy who would be brave enough to tell me what he has to offer than a guy who would only show me what I want to see. But I have nothing against Jong woo and Seulki. 😊

I also agree about the part where his personality was the best on dating shows. Should he settled down with a girl, he would lose his charismatic self. He was suited for being carefree and single. That’s his charm. Also why he emphasises that he is looking for an independent girl who realises that he loves being carefree. He needs his partner to understand that he might not be the 100% always attentive and taking care of her kind of guy.

Like I said in your last review I said I like a guy who doesn’t play games and doesn’t keep me guessing because I couldn’t trust him…I guess Seulki felt the same way! I do think she’s more physically and mentally attracted to JinYoung but Jong Woo was a safer choice and he was confident in his feelings and didn’t mince words. JinYoung, imo, liked to play games and stay in power keeping Seulki intrigued and wanting more. I felt like he was too arrogant knowing all these women were vying for his attention and affection so he was too cocky.

It's not entirely fate. She gave JY an opportunity and what he said gave her a decision. She was deadsight on him but JY seems like he wanted to know for sure if you only like me cause of my looks or this chemistry. Her answer of "someone like you... whos in my mind" wasn't what he wanted to hear too. He wanted something more than the outside... something concrete like what Seulki wanted from JY. Totally agree with you. People think that only Seulki was disapointed of their conversation but JY was also. The point is in Paradise with Nadine they talk a lot and he founds that they have so much in commun. When he return in inferno he wanted to know if he can also have fun with Seulki beside their physical attraction but she failed bc she gives him a superficial answer at what she like about him. I think he understand that Seulki is attracted to his cool side and physique not to his inside personality it's why he give up by to be honest about his life.

@@semifoever Other than attraction, they had great banter and they are both playful with each other. Both their conversations were somewhat guarded. JY is very protective of his emotions. Even when Seulki was very flirtatious with him, he never really reciprocated back but you can tell he was fallin' for it slowly. We know that Seulki is only acting like that towards him because we are the viewer but as a contestant, you wouldn't know who else she's flirtatious to. It's a dating show and if I was a contestant, I would be wary on who's trying to lead me on with false hope like what Dong Woo(doctor) did with Nadine and what Yong Jae did with So-e and Se Jeong. It's true with what the host said about being young and just going full forward with the one you like without thinking about anything else. Once you get older and have more experience with a lot of heartache, we tend to be more protective. Seulki wanted an answer(which is very fair)...JY wanted something more concrete than superficial (which is also fair).

IMO, Seulki and Jinyoung were infatuated with each other. They are both attracted to what they see. Seulki was so eager to unravel Jinyoung's mysterious aura. She was so ready to overstep the boundaries on their first date in Paradise. That's infatuation in full display.
Then later on Jinyoung gave her a reality check after going through a realization during his conversation with Nadine. He popped Seulki's fantasy. Also, seeing the big difference of JY and SK's personality and lifestyle, I don't think they will last.
After Single's Inferno, I can see Jinyoung getting to know Nadine instead. They are at their discovery phase of their lives. And it seems, Nadine is so willing to be supportive while Jinyoung is willing to wait for her. And guess what, JY asked her mom what she thinks if he and Nadine pursues a LDR relationship.
EDIT: Forgot to say Nadine's mom approves.
And one more thing, even though Jinyoung didn't choose Nadine at the end, there's one thing that Jinyoung unconsciously did for Nadine that he didn't do for Seulki. That made me feel that he cares and respects Nadine. Two essential formula in building a healthy long relationship.

He thinks dating is for the future and not just having fun today, and he knows very well that Seulki is not the type of tough woman who can accept a man as he is, because of that when he was asked by seulki he replied he had not decided yet. Seulki is still living for teenage love, while Jin Young looks to dating for the future. he sees girlfriends as part of the future and not just to have fun, while seulki just wants to be pampered and loved, so they just don't match

Hot take: I think the reason Seulki was turned of by JY in that talk was that he said that he didn't feel ready to take care of a girlfriend and himself with his career, implying that Seulki as a unstable student needed to be taken care of. Seulki is wealthy and a baddie and could take care of herself and her future man. If I were her, that would be a huge turn off for me.

There's a crucial scene you missed where the girls are sitting in the tent talking and the gal that forced two dates with Jin Young talks about going swimming. If you look at Seulki's reaction that was a major issue. Remember she chose not to swim on her first date because in her mind it felt to intimate with a guy she definitely wasn't into. With Jin Young she was hesitating at first but then she chose to go in with a sexy two piece. Remember she had more than one suit packed and she chose the sexy one thinking about their date. The swimming scene was memorable to her and a time of her being gutsy so in her mind him swimming with the other gal lessened her view of him. Her outfit with Jung Woo is also telling--much more conservative and fully covered. Drfinitely no chemistry, but Jung Woo was a safe choice.

I'm sure jin young is to suelki their reactions, gestures from the entire show showed they cared for each other. JY asking for suelki in the beach, calling suelki while washing dishes, choosing suelki from others to have lunch, diched 3 women and brought suelki a drinks so they can talk, choosing suelki so they can talk from the last episode for their last date. From all of these scenario JY showed that he liked suelki from all other girls in the show.

Given that Singles Inferno is a reality dating show, at the end of the day, it's still a tv show. In my opinion, I believe the showrunner has the full control to have the last say in which couples will connect by the end of the Season. So after my thorough observation & J Bro's dissection of SI2 finale, those things made me ponder if Singles Inferno does multiple endings with different couples being matched-up. As such, the final cut that will be chosen for the show's finale will depend on the viewers' favourites & most popular couples to leave the island together or remain single leaving alone. I believe, having multiple endings, is a programming method used to successfully capture the hearts of the viewers in order of getting a chance or way to gain stronger viewership and increase their ratings. So if the showrunner is successful in acquiring strong ratings, it can potentially help them capture the Network's attention for future Season(s).
However, I could be completely wrong because the above is based solely on my opinion & observations -- not any factual evidence. But no matter what, I still liked & enjoyed watching both Seasons of Singles Inferno because it has the romance without the raunchiness.

Interesting and insightful analysis for the most part but I fundamentally disagree with you on why SK chose JW.
SK was covered from head to toe in the pool because she had no romantic feelings for JW.
SK revealed her cleavage to JY in the pool.
After the paradise date with JW she then walked with JY back on inferno:
1 -she confessed her feelings to JY under the tepee
2 -she admitted she wants someone like JY in terms of personality
3- she admitted JY was always on her mind
4- she admitted she kept her eyes on JY during the men's pit fight.
5- she told JY that he was the only man who could lift the water buckets by himself
6 - she said had made her decision
7 - after all that JY then failed to commit to her.
8 - her face changed and she's clearly pissed off.
9 - on the walk back SK said she's upset at JY but wouldn't tell him why.
10 - when JY stopped by Nadine at the end SK is clearly shocked and disappointed.
11 - her decision at the end was big finger to JY for playing with her emotions rather then genuine attraction to JW.
12- interview at the end SK said she chose someone who liked her instead of someone that she liked.
13 - SK posted photos when she was in the US of her and guy with same side face profile as JY months after the show ended. It was taken down as Inferno aired.
14 - SK is still following JY on IG.
It's so obvious SK heart is with JY rather than JW even at the end, she has admitted it so many times.
If JY had simply said he will choose her on their last date under the tepee then SK picks him easily despite the simping from JW.
I think SK will "stick" with JW until the inferno public hype is over and will dump her butler when she comes across the next JY type.
