Song Jia has mastered the art of manipulation & seduction in a good way. She knows exactly who she was gonna end up with but that didn’t stop her from enjoying what the other boys have to offer. She has them wrapped around her finger, and knows how to make them wait. She also knows how to make each guy feel like they’re the only one for her, but she’s never swayed. I’ve noticed she likes to listen more than talk which is interesting cause such a trait gives her an advantage to know the guys feeling without revealing hers too much. From the beginning just by face alone I knew I would love both Yewon & Soyeon. They’re just more real and open to me.

she didn't master anything. Some people have a personality like this naturally. She even said in her videos that she doesn't know what to tell us because she naturally behaves like that and it's the way she normally talks. The only thing she said in one of her previous q&a's is that she learned not to trust people too much and that's why she doesn't say a lot about herself.
I agree, esp. the part where you said she knows how to make each guy feel like they're the one one for her. One of the commentators called her enchanting. Reminds me of how mermaids can be so alluring, only I don't see her willfully deceiving them so that can crash and burn on the rocks. However, her behavior can be misleading, and though as a girl, I like her, if I were a guy, I might get my feelings hurt.
God help me. I kept replying the part when one by one walked over to her at the Beach to choose her as the Final date. Hyun Joong striding there, Hyun Seung fixedly walking there and Sihun sashaying there. They are awesome. And the part when Hyun Seung asked his friend to go inside as he will take her. That is so manly funny. I think I am falling for them. I need to stop.
I totally agree that because this show was "not sexual" but sexy compared to other reality dating shows, that this was WAYYYYY more attractive and enjoyable to watch. I've BEEN over Western show's over sexualizing everything and ALWAYS including what sometimes feels like an unnecessary sex scene.
Recommend Temptation island is where couples are challenged with singles, who have to find love by splitting up the couples. That Western show also is enjoyable to watch. But yeah, Singles' inferno is more opposite to other dating shows.
Agree that this one is more "realistic". But a lot of people in Korea criticized it because they advertised the show as "the sexiest and hottest show", somewhat comparable to Too Hot, and people were like nah... that's impossible in Korea lol
The scene of HyunSeung and Yewon chatting in the dining hut was my fav. Too bad they didn’t give Yewon more screen time. Imagine if Jia came on the show later on and HyunSeung was there from the beginning 😳
I would like to see that! Hahaha.. Actually in Yewon channel, she and HyunSeung answered some questions. One of the reason HyunSeung choose Jia is because he thought Yewon and Junsik are solid. He also implied there is instances when he saw them together (which not showed) that suggests this. BUT, then again, Jia also already quite close with Hyeon-Joong when he arrived 😂 I think it’s also more because Jia is more indirect and mysterious. She know how to lead on people. Most of the time she is evasive and very clever at implying things when asked. I’m not criticizing her, I’m just stating it as I observed her on the shows. She got a real good flirting skill 😂 It’s actually make guys crazy over her because they cannot figure her out.
Yea Won easily. I think a lot of guys would like her over Ji-a. She's feminine, easy going, passionate and seems like the type who's not above trying new things. I also like girls who don't subscribe to society's tendency to play games (push and pull). She's upfront and that's attractive.

Honestly she lured three superficial dumbutts. A bunch of guys were obsessed with her as soon as they saw her. She didn't do much besides letting each of them think they had a chance and acting unfazed by everything. I didn't find it fasinating when the 3 guys chose her. I was just wondering what was wrong with their brains. She was going to get attention anyway since she's a common ideal type in Korea, though not necessarily in other countries.
What I like about the show, above many other things, is that it shows the more sweet, tender, considerate, respectful and polite culture of South Korea. Compare this to the raunchy, horny, selfish, and overly sex oriented nature of the Western dating shows that have aired on Netflix. Such a breath of fresh air; and to be completely honest, so much more humane and enjoyable in my eyes.

Agree. It’s probably the cutest, most wholesome reality dating show I’ve seen. And that’s what makes it unique. And the 4 hosts’ reactions are so relatable, like they get what the viewers are thinking.

i like that soyeon is straightforward but the fact she is too insecure , and cannot hide how she feels when its not even a week yet, and she keeps grinding on jintaek about her jealousy regarding jiyeon, is just a big No No. Jintaek is just a smooth talker playboy, And this show is about game of pushing and pulling, so Soyeon cannot be too insecure and need to keep an open mind, and she gotta stop acting desperate. She is hot, successful, kind and considerate but when Jintaek lose interest, Soyeon become panic that she goes crazy.Im sorry but its very hard to watch.

I think people forget that this show only lasted for 9 days. That’s a very short amount of time to get to know someone and determine whether you wanna date them or not. It’s not like other dating shows that takes weeks to allow connections to actually blossom. But because this show was so short, I don’t think it was bad for Sehoon to be persistent because again, it’s not like they were given often a lot of time to go mingle with others. If this show did last much longer, I’m sure things would’ve gone much differently or so. That’s just my opinion
I didn’t know that the show was for 9 days., I just watched this clip and I assumed inferno was also like other dating shows and lasted weeks so I was thinking, he straight up pestered her for such a long time lol But if the show itself lasted for only 9 days, then he tried to pursue her for only a couple of days and then was actually very understanding and empathetic in the end..
it was soyeon for me from the beginning ..i really liked her personality and healthy body. and then yeawon stole my heart in the end.she was so friendly with everyone and a very positive gal . that lil chat with hyunseung was so funny and cute that for some minutes i thought he is gonna take yeawon with him to paradise. and then crashed after he chose jia. lol.
I’m going to be honest I think Jiyeon only took interest in Sehoon because no one else gave her the attention she wanted. The other two guys that gave her attention eventually stop. You can see how hurt she was by it. Then Sehoon came back showing interest in her again and she finally gave him a chance after that.I mean they are cute together so no hate. I hated that that’s why she gave him a chance but at least she did.

Tbh i dont see them lasting past the show. He just wanted her because he couldn't handle rejection and she accepted because all of her options were out. He himself said that she wasn't even his type but was so adamant about getting to know her that couldn't take a no for an answer so it really rubbed me the wrong way (plus he was so mean to seyeon just because she told him the truth💀)
Jiyeon stated she was typically "need more time" person, she even tell Sehoon hontestly that she feels far and awkward with him the most at beginning, and sehoon suddenly aggresiveness to her at the beginning make her more confused, thats why she didnt choose him 2 times (eps 8). After 2nd date at paradise, she feels more tired and her hardly times with living in island make her more sensitive (eps 7), she feels pressurized and she started questioned her own choices (campfire eps 6), especially her guilty feelings to not give sehoon a chances, thats why she planned to talk with sehoon only after sehoon back from paradise (before 3rd election). But, when Sehoon surprisingly choose her at 3rd election, tell her that his choices was for his own good, make her comfortable (dating eps 7), and finally tell her "Its okay, do not worry about it. It must've be tough for you" after listened all her heart feelings and complaints (dinner eps 8). All of thats were good story and progress about they relationship.
I liked how So-yeon and Jin-taek had a heart to heart talk about what they wanted and clarified their misunderstandings. They were both waiting for each-other to make the first move. I’m so glad she was more proactive after that. Women don’t like to do a lot of chasing and look desperate- so it’s great when a man can communicate what he wants. I can definitely relate to So-yeon’s feelings. The mind games are awful. You feel stuck. It’s like, do I keep trying because we definitely were vibing or just move on? I agree with Esther, I would want to be friends with Yea-won too. Wish we got to know more about Su-min. I felt bad for her because Si-hun treated her like a get outta jail card. In the end, he still lost out🤷🏻♀️
Si Hun I feel is the worst because of his treatment to Su Min. Not only he lead her on (by saying she is his type and keep trying to talk to her), used her to boost his ego after rejection from Jia, he also kind of humiliated her. He know clearly he is not over Jia and only attracted to that one contestant but deliberately choose to do that. I know he will go to Jia at the end by their interactions in the paradise. Not once he seems so interested on Sumin, but he just keeps on thanking her.
At first I sympathized Si hun coz Ji a was leading him on but I knew she won't choose him. Safe to say he got a taste of his own medicine. Thanks to Jia
There’s definitely a fine line differentiating persistence from obsession. Like John said, someone whose persistent has the ability to acknowledge the other person’s feelings, while someone whose obsessed is seeking to validate their own. However, I think in real life, persistence is rarely received positively. In reality, if you’re “persistent”, you’re viewed as a “simp” and a person with no options, which makes you unattractive, especially in this online dating age. Other than that, the show was extremely fun to watch both through an educational and entertaining perspective 😂.
And if you have lots of options, you are seen as a fuck boy/fuck girl, or you are seen as a person that can’t be seen as sincere, or you are seen as just playing games etc. And if you don’t have to be persistent, you are seen as easy. Todays dating culture is trash. (Not sure if old times were good too) But I guess there’s no right answer, so I guess you just gotta do you.

My favorite in girls is Yeawon, she's so bubbly and such a good vibe. For guys aside from my friend, it would definitely be Sehoon. I'm into guys who knows how to cook. I personally for one am not fond of Sehoon. His actions at the end were really respect worthy but I still wouldn’t like a guy who’s been ignorant of my feelings for the most part and chasing me like that. Yeawon was my favourite tho. Yeawon and Soyeon - felt like they carried themselves so well as the cool unnies and were just so much more mature than the other girls who kind of came across as superficial.
I think persistence can work when you do something different or unexpected which shows them a different side of you. Like in Se Hoon's case when the new girls arrived and he started to show potential interest in them which made her notice him more. Then when she thought he wasn't going to choose her but he did. His actions were unexpected and it made her see him in a different light. If you keep doing the same thing, then they will continue to see you the same way they alway have and so nothing changes.
I no longer put watching this as a guilty pleasure... I proudly watched it and proclaimed my love for the show. Really enjoyed your commentary on this!
I think because this show is emotional instead of physical it is way more interesting. I was scared when I saw this on netflix that Korea was going too western with dating shows, which made me very sad. But when watching the show I was happy that it wasn't just a physical no emotion, empathy, & sincerity. As for me the mental and emotional aspect makes it more interesting and realistic.
My fav was also Yea-won. She's beautiful, has a great figure, but best of all has an amazing personality. Really wish she would've gotten more screen time. So-yeon is my second fav.

Yeah I think everyone agrees that yeawon is very very charming and attractive and are maybe confused why she got so little interest from the guys. But in a Q&A on her TH-cam she explained that she didn't really try to approach any of the guys full on because she's the kind of person to get into a relationship after a long time of knowing the other person, which means she was more befriending people and rarely flirting with anyone. I think she could've gotten a lot of guys if she wanted to and actually went for them like the other girls did but she was literally just there to chill lmao.
I believe she may have dated one of the guys for real IF one of the guys made a straight forward approach showing his serious interest in her. I felt like she didn’t end up dating any of them after the show because the guys had their own preferences from the start, and she said that Jun Sik was being just a friend when they went to paradise. They didn’t talk much about dating. And that’s where he messed up. I feel in dating, I wouldn’t give off only friendly vibes because then a person might just get friend zoned. A person has to show interest to show the other person is really liked. Really, the only time she approached someone was when the new guy showed up, beat everyone in the wrestling game, and impressed everyone. So when this happened and she showed interest, that made me not really believe her when she said she has to spend time with a person before dating. I mean maybe she does need time, but I just saw that no one was giving her a chance in a romantic way. As a guy, if I was on the show, I would have def chose her and Soyeon from the start to see how it would have turned out.
the jiyeon-sehoon moment at the paradise is the best part I guess why singles inferno became a hit.. I was touched too of sehoon's loyalty and sincerity to that one girl he fell for. waiting for season 2 ☺
As far as persistent vs stubborn: it definitely depends on the reason why I rejected you in the first place. If I suggest being friends for a bit at first and they can't respect that, then I'm going to be annoyed and I might even feel unsafe depending on the situation. But I definitely agree with Esther and I like to give people a chance before completely dismissing the idea of dating them. Also, pretty sure the Instagram poll indicated we wanted the other thumbnail option lol

@@JBRODUCTION it's also really interesting to see the different reactions in the comments. Several people indicated that they like feeling pursued when someone is persistent. A lot of people also bring up a good point that if the persistence/stubbornness is driven purely by ego it's not attractive (in my mind this is where it can potentially become dangerous and possessive). Conversely, if the persistence is allowing the interested party to actually take the time to get to know someone on a deeper level and grow into something more than just infatuation, that could be seen as more attractive to a lot of women. To be seen and valued as someone worth knowing versus another conquest. Maybe I'm thinking too much about this....😅

I loved the series! My fave was definitely Moon Se-Hoon. He has such a wonderful heart. I also think the PG’ness of Korean dating shows is really endearing. I have to admit I was not a fan of Ji-a. I felt like she was just collecting men with no regard for their feelings. I was very happy with all the couples that did get together! I cried when I watched that dinner scene so John, I get the glistening eyes for sure.
Completely agree. I didn't like her. If you like this dating show watch sundabang. It's not on Netflix but it's soooo good. Basically some celebs open a temporary cafe where they set couples up in dates while serving then coffee. The couples have a blind date there and everything is recorded.

I found Sehoon's persistent approach to be annoying. To be fair, he wasn't really given a chance before he was rejected buuuut if I was someone who had a set reason for why I rejected him, I would automatically block him and avoid him if he continued being this persistent. Before rejecting someone, I would tell them why and if they continue persisting, I find that to be scary
It’s interesting that all the couples, who paired, were very determined. At least one side of them was so honest to the one they chose since the beginning. I also have learnt that it was so pressure to build up a relationship for a date in a short time. The one who tried to be chilled and enjoyed building friendship like Yewon seemed to be happiest. Their friendship is so lovely.

I think Sehoon's persistence was justified. He never got an outright no and just wanted some closure if it didn't went well with jiyeon and picked her. They had a good time and jiyeon herself picked him to go to paradise with.
I was so frustrated watching the show with how Sehoon wouldn't leave her alone. He was so defensive when anyone pointed out that he was going overboard and if I was her I would have felt really burdened. I'm glad it worked out in the end I guess but I definitely thought it was way more about his ego than anything. I wish rather than be empathetic about how she felt he would have changed his actions so she didn't have to feel like that in the first place.
Persistent vs stubborn is on the same fine line as romantic vs creepy: It all depends on the receiver. If the receiver has a positive attitude/some interest towards the interested person then then things the interested person says and do can be considered romantic. But if the receiver is absolutely not interested the same thing that could have been romantic is just creepy. My personal problem with persistence and stubbornness in romantic settings is, that it kind of plays into the narrative of "women saying no but meaning yes/not knowing what they want".

Out of all the Guys in the show, Jun-Sik would be my ideal type 🙂. His character trait during the interview before arriving to the island and during his time in the island stood up for me the most and consistent and that is his Humility! At the end or rather the last episode, I loved his character trait even more….. He has such a beautiful attitude, a gentle spirit, and when he laughed and smiled even after getting “rejected” he has one of the purest smile I have ever seen ㅋㅋㅋㅋ~ 🤣😆🙈. When he waved “Goodbye 👋🏼” my heart broke for him and made me slightly teary 🙈. It was then I felt he has one of the a purest soul 😂💕

Cute guy on the left. Don’t worry. I also cried when Ji-yeon cried. And I am sure Se-hoon liked her even more after that. That was such an emotional scene. I commend Se-hoon for validating Ji-yeon’s feelings even though he had a difficult time if not the worst time on the island. And besides Ji-yeon’s ‘pure’ looks, I think she is sweet, empathetic and kind and I understand why Se-hoon likes her. It’s not just the fact that she’s pretty.

I think persistance it's good , but in this case when you just think about one person and that person accept you after alot of effort and start liking him , there is a great chance that he realise that she wasn't a big deal or what he had thought about her and he might lose his interest during relationship.

this is definitely my friend and her boyf in 2017, my friend is hard to get, her boyf liked her first and made the big effort to get her, finally she liked and accepted him, after 2 years of relationship my friend said to me that her relationship is a bit loose and boring, her boyf didnt do the big effort again cause they matured 😂, but thankfully theyre still with each other and going to marry soon 😆 a balanced mutualism relation will make the relationship last long

I haven’t seen the show all the way, but I agree w John’s comment about wanting to shake Se-hoon, knowing that he’s been rejected by Yewon basically the whole show. In today’s western culture, you would be seen as a simp or a guy who couldn’t take a hint. Nowadays, playing the ‘long game’ isn’t common anymore. Maybe even frowned upon by the Internet cuz as a guy, u really never know if ur investment of time, energy, and emotion will ever make a girl like u/ get u out of the friend zone. I personally don’t really endorse playing the long game for this reason, but I don’t blame the guys that do. They just have to really be ready to face disappointment when she decides that she ultimately still wants to be with someone else. Great video bros!

I can't believe people think Sehoon is "good." This is such misogynistic/nice guy behavior. The fact he can't take no for an answer despite making her visibly uncomfortable. That he gets MAD that she isn't open to his advances. I also watched this with my bf (and other friends watching shared the same sentiment) that this was super pushy/forceful behavior and that she probably just felt pushed to a corner especially on TV and had so much pressure she just gave up fighting back...

I’ve never heard of this show but this was interesting. Persistence works for particular people and more so than making someone uncomfortable I often think, “have some damn self respect.” Why endlessly pursue someone if they don’t want you? Not in a childish way but at a certain point when do you draw the line and say damn I’m not treating myself well by continually bothering someone and trying to convince someone to like me. I think his response is nice but ultimately like…ok..? It’s good he was kind, that should be standard. Best of luck to him and best of luck to that girl for having to go through that. Also that girl is so “hypnotic” because (in these clips at least) she listens and honestly it can truly be that simple.
I think the girl was emotionally exhausted and ready to go home at that point. I did not like Sehoon’s persistence. He didn’t respect the girl’s boundaries.
I think about the persistence part - it works if you can really impress the girl with the little opportunities you have. if you show me that you are a truly good person and you are THAT loyal to me, i would definitely be swayed. Sehoon met those two requirements and although i was annoyed at sehoon in the beginning, after jiyeon+sehoon’s date my views of him completely changed and he 100% won me over. Bottom line: be a genuinely, good person with pure intentions and show the girl youre only loyal to her. Then you might have a chance However if the girl is 10000% adamant about not wanting to date you from the jump, you shouldnt try😅 youre probably just going to annoy her

It may work for a few, but most of the time, it doesn’t pay off. I tried several times with my best friend from high school, but she kept rejecting me all the way to freshman year of college. We had a lot in common, but she didn’t feel the same way. And for me, I can’t be friends with a person I like (and knows I like her) who dates another guy in front of me. So I cut her off because there wasn’t going to be anything more, and it would have been awkward for me to still be friends with the person.
Ji-A is beautiful and witty. Se-hoon was stubborn and they edited the episodes to make him the story arch because it was the most interesting story line. He is nice but Ji-yeon wasn't/isn't attracted to him. she felt bad for rejecting him and felt a little burden by multiple pressures to make him her choice. She might have felt pressured to take his hand even if she not attracted to him.

The fact that ZIA has 1.88M subscribers, 3.2M instragram followers speak for her aura and influence. Like I said, I watched the show without liking this category of girls, but was hooked when she made such a strong impression. I don't understand why I seem hypnotized also. It is really unfair that she does not need any effort to make guys weak. She don't even need to tell jokes or be funny. And her 3 suitors are very very very charming and one woman's man. Watching her channel, she is a very sweet nice girl to her fans. The ways she called them Prinkies is so cute. She even make videos in advance of her absence for her Prinkies. That is dedication. And she said her parents like Sihun.
YeaWon and Soyeon had more personality in my pov, the guys were a tad bit less appealing personality wise. Idk 9 days is pretty short to determine so who knows. Sehoon and Choi Sihun when they said that they liked two of the girls because they were “pale and pure” I cringed, I understand that there are preferences, but that seemed pretty weird to say.
The way I saw it with se-hoon and ji-yeon, it seemed that due to other peoples involvement ji-yeon was bothered. She said (according to the translation) that she was bothered by the other people constantly commenting on him and her, which made her feel burdened. So I think that had more of an influence on ji-yeon being uncomfortable than se-hoon interacting with her. I think that is why she found him attractive as she got to be open with him, without having to think about the other ilanders. Because I believe that if she really was uncomfortable with his interactions she wouldn't have chosen him at the end.

Yea-Won and her love connection were drama free. Girl had a nice 🍑, she had a body on her. Ji-a strung guys along, who remembers the beginning? She said she didn't like anyone. Se-hoon finally started speaking up and 👏 thank 👏 God!!! Si-yeon liked him back. 🙏🏼 Choi Si-hun is the biggest simp! I can't believe he walked past Min-ji...they were friendly throughout her short time in Inferno but he had to be a Stage 5 Clinger and stand by Jin-a 🙈. By choosing her, he hurt Min-ji, I wanted to tell her (Min-ji) that it was a blessing. Meanwhile, Ji-a enjoyed every second of the adoration, regardless if she liked the men or not (big sign of insecurity and immaturity!) SMH! Si-hun is so simple minded, he left the island alone! 😛 My fave is So-Yeon because she's a lot like me - tall, feminine but loves male dominated sports, she speaks her mind, and is friendly with everyone. She's aggressive but not too much, she goes after what she wants. IDK if Jin-taek is just nice to most people, though, or he's a player. He was vague and played down his date w/So-Yeon when Si-Yeon was questioning him in their paradise suite - whatever the outcome, So-Yeon will be okay with or without him.
I actually came back after finishing and I have some points to add - Too much screen time for some characters and too little for some. They all came for the same goals but it felt like some were given privileges over others. Some could go to paradise once and some could be there everyday 🧐 also adding two girl characters at the last is just very injustice to them. How can you expect to build bond in hours? 😏 There were walking talking red signs but hardly anyone cared. 💃 The most highlighted thing to me is - soyeon and sehoon communication where they both cleared things like adults should do 👏 They paid attention to cinematography, amenities, shooting place but they lack at the most important part, direction. This is was a great show 👏 I didn't watch this with my mom but it's really something you could watch with parents without being scared about a "sexy" scene that would come on screen. As far as Ji-a... I knew she would be the most popular girl. But....I actually thought that she would not choose any of them because of the first episode and then seeing the last episode. All I saw was a lot of guys showing interest in her and me not really understanding why she didn't show any interest back. #spoiler : glad she chose someone "puppy". Other than that. I'm glad my favorite couples chose each other 🥰🧡

Personally I really liked Sehoon in the beginning, he was so cute and funny but then it all went downhill. My favorites from beginning to end were Yeawon and Soyeon. Jia was seductive as hell lol even I caught myself falling for her at times.

Se-hoon is the most real character on the show. You have to really like someone to persistently go after them over and over again. I doubt it works in most cases as they don't fancy you back either personality or appearance.

Song Jia has mastered the art of manipulation & seduction in a good way. She knows exactly who she was gonna end up with but that didn’t stop her from enjoying what the other boys have to offer. She has them wrapped around her finger, and knows how to make them wait. She also knows how to make each guy feel like they’re the only one for her, but she’s never swayed. I’ve noticed she likes to listen more than talk which is interesting cause such a trait gives her an advantage to know the guys feeling without revealing hers too much.

she didn't master anything. Some people have a personality like this naturally. I agree, esp. the part where you said she knows how to make each guy feel like they're the one one for her. One of the commentators called her enchanting. I totally agree that because this show was "not sexual" but sexy compared to other reality dating shows, that this was WAYYYYY more attractive and enjoyable to watch. I've BEEN over Western show's over sexualizing everything and ALWAYS including what sometimes feels like an unnecessary sex scene.

He also implied there is instances when he saw them together (which not showed) that suggests this. BUT, then again, Jia also already quite close with Hyeon-Joong when he arrived 😂 I think it’s also more because Jia is more indirect and mysterious. She know how to lead on people. Most of the time she is evasive and very clever at implying things when asked. I’m not criticizing her, I’m just stating it as I observed her on the shows. She got a real good flirting skill 😂 It’s actually make guys crazy over her because they cannot figure her out.

Honestly she lured three superficial dumbutts. A bunch of guys were obsessed with her as soon as they saw her. I was just wondering what was wrong with their brains. She was going to get attention anyway since she's a common ideal type in Korea, though not necessarily in other countries.
What I like about the show, above many other things, is that it shows the more sweet, tender, considerate, respectful and polite culture of South Korea. Compare this to the raunchy, horny, selfish, and overly sex oriented nature of the Western dating shows that have aired on Netflix. Such a breath of fresh air; and to be completely honest, so much more humane and enjoyable in my eyes.

I think people forget that this show only lasted for 9 days. That’s a very short amount of time to get to know someone and determine whether you wanna date them or not. It’s not like other dating shows that takes weeks to allow connections to actually blossom. But because this show was so short, I don’t think it was bad for Sehoon to be persistent because again, it’s not like they were given often a lot of time to go mingle with others. If this show did last much longer, I’m sure things would’ve gone much differently or so. That’s just my opinion

I didn’t know that the show was for 9 days., I just watched this clip and I assumed inferno was also like other dating shows and lasted weeks so I was thinking, he straight up pestered her for such a long time lol But if the show itself lasted for only 9 days, then he tried to pursue her for only a couple of days and then was actually very understanding and empathetic in the end..
it was soyeon for me from the beginning ..i really liked her personality and healthy body. and then yeawon stole my heart in the end.she was so friendly with everyone and a very positive gal . that lil chat with hyunseung was so funny and cute that for some minutes i thought he is gonna take yeawon with him to paradise. and then crashed after he chose jia. lol.
I’m going to be honest I think Jiyeon only took interest in Sehoon because no one else gave her the attention she wanted. The other two guys that gave her attention eventually stop. You can see how hurt she was by it. Then Sehoon came back showing interest in her again and she finally gave him a chance after that.I mean they are cute together so no hate. I hated that that’s why she gave him a chance but at least she did.

Tbh i dont see them lasting past the show. He just wanted her because he couldn't handle rejection and she accepted because all of her options were out. He himself said that she wasn't even his type but was so adamant about getting to know her that couldn't take a no for an answer so it really rubbed me the wrong way (plus he was so mean to seyeon just because she told him the truth💀)

Jiyeon stated she was typically "need more time" person, she even tell Sehoon hontestly that she feels far and awkward with him the most at beginning, and sehoon suddenly aggresiveness to her at the beginning make her more confused, thats why she didnt choose him 2 times (eps 8). After 2nd date at paradise, she feels more tired and her hardly times with living in island make her more sensitive (eps 7), she feels pressurized and she started questioned her own choices (campfire eps 6), especially her guilty feelings to not give sehoon a chances, thats why she planned to talk with sehoon only after sehoon back from paradise (before 3rd election). But, when Sehoon surprisingly choose her at 3rd election, tell her that his choices was for his own good, make her comfortable (dating eps 7), and finally tell her "Its okay, do not worry about it. It must've be tough for you" after listened all her heart feelings and complaints (dinner eps 8). All of thats were good story and progress about they relationship.
I liked how So-yeon and Jin-taek had a heart to heart talk about what they wanted and clarified their misunderstandings. They were both waiting for each-other to make the first move. I’m so glad she was more proactive after that. Women don’t like to do a lot of chasing and look desperate- so it’s great when a man can communicate what he wants. I can definitely relate to So-yeon’s feelings. The mind games are awful. You feel stuck. It’s like, do I keep trying because we definitely were vibing or just move on?
I agree with Esther, I would want to be friends with Yea-won too. Wish we got to know more about Su-min. I felt bad for her because Si-hun treated her like a get outta jail card. In the end, he still lost out🤷🏻♀️
Si Hun I feel is the worst because of his treatment to Su Min. Not only he lead her on (by saying she is his type and keep trying to talk to her), used her to boost his ego after rejection from Jia, he also kind of humiliated her. He know clearly he is not over Jia and only attracted to that one contestant but deliberately choose to do that. I know he will go to Jia at the end by their interactions in the paradise. Not once he seems so interested on Sumin, but he just keeps on thanking her.

There’s definitely a fine line differentiating persistence from obsession. Like John said, someone whose persistent has the ability to acknowledge the other person’s feelings, while someone whose obsessed is seeking to validate their own. However, I think in real life, persistence is rarely received positively. In reality, if you’re “persistent”, you’re viewed as a “simp” and a person with no options, which makes you unattractive, especially in this online dating age. Other than that, the show was extremely fun to watch both through an educational and entertaining perspective 😂.

Like in Se Hoon's case when the new girls arrived and he started to show potential interest in them which made her notice him more. Then when she thought he wasn't going to choose her but he did. His actions were unexpected and it made her see him in a different light. If you keep doing the same thing, then they will continue to see you the same way they alway have and so nothing changes.

I think because this show is emotional instead of physical it is way more interesting. I was scared when I saw this on netflix that Korea was going too western with dating shows, which made me very sad. But when watching the show I was happy that it wasn't just a physical no emotion, empathy, & sincerity. As for me the mental and emotional aspect makes it more interesting and realistic.
Korea has many dating shows. And most of them are a lot better than this one actually.

Yeah I think everyone agrees that yeawon is very very charming and attractive and are maybe confused why she got so little interest from the guys. But in a Q&A on her TH-cam she explained that she didn't really try to approach any of the guys full on because she's the kind of person to get into a relationship after a long time of knowing the other person, which means she was more befriending people and rarely flirting with anyone. I think she could've gotten a lot of guys if she wanted to and actually went for them like the other girls did but she was literally just there to chill lmao.
I believe she may have dated one of the guys for real IF one of the guys made a straight forward approach showing his serious interest in her. I felt like she didn’t end up dating any of them after the show because the guys had their own preferences from the start, and she said that Jun Sik was being just a friend when they went to paradise. They didn’t talk much about dating. And that’s where he messed up. I feel in dating, I wouldn’t give off only friendly vibes because then a person might just get friend zoned. A person has to show interest to show the other person is really liked.
Really, the only time she approached someone was when the new guy showed up, beat everyone in the wrestling game, and impressed everyone. So when this happened and she showed interest, that made me not really believe her when she said she has to spend time with a person before dating. I mean maybe she does need time, but I just saw that no one was giving her a chance in a romantic way. As a guy, if I was on the show, I would have def chose her and Soyeon from the start to see how it would have turned out.
the jiyeon-sehoon moment at the paradise is the best part I guess why singles inferno became a hit.. I was touched too of sehoon's loyalty and sincerity to that one girl he fell for. waiting for season 2 ☺
As far as persistent vs stubborn: it definitely depends on the reason why I rejected you in the first place. If I suggest being friends for a bit at first and they can't respect that, then I'm going to be annoyed and I might even feel unsafe depending on the situation. But I definitely agree with Esther and I like to give people a chance before completely dismissing the idea of dating them.

A lot of people also bring up a good point that if the persistence/stubbornness is driven purely by ego it's not attractive (in my mind this is where it can potentially become dangerous and possessive). Conversely, if the persistence is allowing the interested party to actually take the time to get to know someone on a deeper level and grow into something more than just infatuation, that could be seen as more attractive to a lot of women. To be seen and valued as someone worth knowing versus another conquest. Maybe I'm thinking too much about this....😅

I loved the series! My fave was definitely Moon Se-Hoon. He has such a wonderful heart. I also think the PG’ness of Korean dating shows is really endearing. I have to admit I was not a fan of Ji-a. I felt like she was just collecting men with no regard for their feelings. I was very happy with all the couples that did get together! I cried when I watched that dinner scene so John, I get the glistening eyes for sure.
Completely agree. I didn't like her. If you like this dating show watch sundabang. It's not on Netflix but it's soooo good. Basically some celebs open a temporary cafe where they set couples up in dates while serving then coffee. The couples have a blind date there and everything is recorded.

I found Sehoon's persistent approach to be annoying. To be fair, he wasn't really given a chance before he was rejected buuuut if I was someone who had a set reason for why I rejected him, I would automatically block him and avoid him if he continued being this persistent. Before rejecting someone, I would tell them why and if they continue persisting, I find that to be scary
It’s interesting that all the couples, who paired, were very determined. At least one side of them was so honest to the one they chose since the beginning.
I also have learnt that it was so pressure to build up a relationship for a date in a short time. The one who tried to be chilled and enjoyed building friendship like Yewon seemed to be happiest. Their friendship is so lovely.

I think Sehoon's persistence was justified. He never got an outright no and just wanted some closure if it didn't went well with jiyeon and picked her. They had a good time and jiyeon herself picked him to go to paradise with.
I was so frustrated watching the show with how Sehoon wouldn't leave her alone. He was so defensive when anyone pointed out that he was going overboard and if I was her I would have felt really burdened. I'm glad it worked out in the end I guess but I definitely thought it was way more about his ego than anything. I wish rather than be empathetic about how she felt he would have changed his actions so she didn't have to feel like that in the first place.
Persistent vs stubborn is on the same fine line as romantic vs creepy: It all depends on the receiver. If the receiver has a positive attitude/some interest towards the interested person then then things the interested person says and do can be considered romantic. But if the receiver is absolutely not interested the same thing that could have been romantic is just creepy.
My personal problem with persistence and stubbornness in romantic settings is, that it kind of plays into the narrative of "women saying no but meaning yes/not knowing what they want".

Out of all the Guys in the show, Jun-Sik would be my ideal type 🙂. His character trait during the interview before arriving to the island and during his time in the island stood up for me the most and consistent and that is his Humility! At the end or rather the last episode, I loved his character trait even more….. He has such a beautiful attitude, a gentle spirit, and when he laughed and smiled even after getting “rejected” he has one of the purest smile I have ever seen ㅋㅋㅋㅋ~ 🤣😆🙈. When he waved “Goodbye 👋🏼” my heart broke for him and made me slightly teary 🙈. It was then I felt he has one of the a purest soul 😂💕
My favorite was Soyeon. I was cheering for her every episode. She was so strong and beautiful. The type of lady I dreamt of becoming more like since I was a little girl 🥰

I think persistance it's good , but in this case when you just think about one person and that person accept you after alot of effort and start liking him , there is a great chance that he realise that she wasn't a big deal or what he had thought about her and he might lose his interest during relationship.

I haven’t seen the show all the way, but I agree w John’s comment about wanting to shake Se-hoon, knowing that he’s been rejected by Yewon basically the whole show. In today’s western culture, you would be seen as a simp or a guy who couldn’t take a hint.
Nowadays, playing the ‘long game’ isn’t common anymore. Maybe even frowned upon by the Internet cuz as a guy, u really never know if ur investment of time, energy, and emotion will ever make a girl like u/ get u out of the friend zone. I personally don’t really endorse playing the long game for this reason, but I don’t blame the guys that do. They just have to really be ready to face disappointment when she decides that she ultimately still wants to be with someone else.

I also watched this with my bf (and other friends watching shared the same sentiment) that this was super pushy/forceful behavior and that she probably just felt pushed to a corner especially on TV and had so much pressure she just gave up fighting back...

I’ve never heard of this show but this was interesting. Persistence works for particular people and more so than making someone uncomfortable I often think, “have some damn self respect.” Why endlessly pursue someone if they don’t want you? Not in a childish way but at a certain point when do you draw the line and say damn I’m not treating myself well by continually bothering someone and trying to convince someone to like me. I think his response is nice but ultimately like…ok..? It’s good he was kind, that should be standard. Best of luck to him and best of luck to that girl for having to go through that.

I think the girl was emotionally exhausted and ready to go home at that point. I did not like Sehoon’s persistence. He didn’t respect the girl’s boundaries.
I think about the persistence part - it works if you can really impress the girl with the little opportunities you have. if you show me that you are a truly good person and you are THAT loyal to me, i would definitely be swayed. Sehoon met those two requirements and although i was annoyed at sehoon in the beginning, after jiyeon+sehoon’s date my views of him completely changed and he 100% won me over. Bottom line: be a genuinely, good person with pure intentions and show the girl youre only loyal to her. Then you might have a chance
However if the girl is 10000% adamant about not wanting to date you from the jump, you shouldnt try😅 youre probably just going to annoy her
I rejected my husband more times than I can count before we started dating. He even had to ask me to Mary him 3 times before I said yes. Persistence works.
It may work for a few, but most of the time, it doesn’t pay off. I tried several times with my best friend from high school, but she kept rejecting me all the way to freshman year of college. We had a lot in common, but she didn’t feel the same way. And for me, I can’t be friends with a person I like (and knows I like her) who dates another guy in front of me. So I cut her off because there wasn’t going to be anything more, and it would have been awkward for me to still be friends with the person.
Ji-A is beautiful and witty. Se-hoon was stubborn and they edited the episodes to make him the story arch because it was the most interesting story line. He is nice but Ji-yeon wasn't/isn't attracted to him. she felt bad for rejecting him and felt a little burden by multiple pressures to make him her choice. She might have felt pressured to take his hand even if she not attracted to him.

YeaWon and Soyeon had more personality in my pov, the guys were a tad bit less appealing personality wise. Idk 9 days is pretty short to determine so who knows. Sehoon and Choi Sihun when they said that they liked two of the girls because they were “pale and pure” I cringed, I understand that there are preferences, but that seemed pretty weird to say.
The way I saw it with se-hoon and ji-yeon, it seemed that due to other peoples involvement ji-yeon was bothered. She said (according to the translation) that she was bothered by the other people constantly commenting on him and her, which made her feel burdened. So I think that had more of an influence on ji-yeon being uncomfortable than se-hoon interacting with her. I think that is why she found him attractive as she got to be open with him, without having to think about the other ilanders. Because I believe that if she really was uncomfortable with his interactions she wouldn't have chosen him at the end.
I think being an open book like yeawon is pretty attractive as well. No mind games etc.. love her eyesmile ;)

My fave is So-Yeon because she's a lot like me - tall, feminine but loves male dominated sports, she speaks her mind, and is friendly with everyone. She's aggressive but not too much, she goes after what she wants. IDK if Jin-taek is just nice to most people, though, or he's a player. He was vague and played down his date w/So-Yeon when Si-Yeon was questioning him in their paradise suite - whatever the outcome, So-Yeon will be okay with or without him.

I actually came back after finishing and I have some points to add -
Too much screen time for some characters and too little for some. They all came for the same goals but it felt like some were given privileges over others. Some could go to paradise once and some could be there everyday 🧐 also adding two girl characters at the last is just very injustice to them. How can you expect to build bond in hours? 😏
There were walking talking red signs but hardly anyone cared. 💃
The most highlighted thing to me is - soyeon and sehoon communication where they both cleared things like adults should do 👏

This is was a great show 👏 I didn't watch this with my mom but it's really something you could watch with parents without being scared about a "sexy" scene that would come on screen. As far as Ji-a... I knew she would be the most popular girl. But....I actually thought that she would not choose any of them because of the first episode and then seeing the last episode. All I saw was a lot of guys showing interest in her and me not really understanding why she didn't show any interest back. #spoiler : glad she chose someone "puppy". Other than that. Personally I really liked Sehoon in the beginning, he was so cute and funny but then it all went downhill. My favorites from beginning to end were Yeawon and Soyeon. Jia was seductive as hell lol even I caught myself falling for her at times.
