Yeah. That's George Hawkins. He passed away a few years ago. Depending on your age or what type if music you typically listen to, you've probably heard him more than you realize. He was definitely awesome. I've wondered why he wasn't more famous as a solo act. I've never really looked into into it. Maybe he just didn't want to be.

George Hawkins Jr played a killer bass line on this and is the reason this intro and the long intro of I'm alright are the two best intros ever in rock history. He played and sang bass. He wasn't a terrible slouch at either
Such a wonderful 1970s song to hold memories from. Thank you Kenny for being our "friend" and giving us this special song. You've given us so many songs & your dancing was great !!!

X-D I mean, I was a little girl and we didn't have google lyrics back then!
I love that song and the meaning behind it and Kenny sings it beautifully with real emotion and love for his friend 🌹🎶🌹 I keep thinking who would I dedicate that song to? I am now 64 years old I have gone through life threatening surgery recovery bedridden for 4 years lost my husband to a massive heart attack and I can honestly say I cannot find one person in my life or in my world that I could dedicate or think in my mind or heart that is worthy of those words. True, but the intro here is the studio recording while the rest of the performance obviously is not.

Wrong. Peaked in October that year.
